"A trade fair for those favored by the gods," Phil Gray said slowly.
Morey thought for a moment, then looked up. "Currently, the Commercial Church has two shops in Duer City that cater to the trade of those favored by God. Let's split up and investigate."
“Speaking of which, a few days ago when I went to the commercial church shop near the tavern, I saw the proprietress talking to someone wearing a cloak. The person had bubble-shaped patterns embroidered on their cuffs. Could it be related to the Dream Cult?” Phil Gray suddenly said, his eyes lighting up.
Everyone looked at him. "Yes, the emblem of the Dream Cult is a pink bubble!"
Morey tidied up the documents on the table. "Let's go, let's go to this one first, right now."
Phil Gray and his group followed.
Soon, they arrived at the store entrance.
The proprietress greeted them warmly and smiled at Morey, saying, "Are you the captain of the Tulip Knights?"
"You know me?"
"Yes, I had the pleasure of seeing you catch a plague maker last time. You are truly amazing, protecting our Duer City."
"We came here to ask if you've ever sold this book here?" Morey took out the copy of "Peter and Anna" and handed it to the proprietress.
The proprietress took the book but didn't look at it. She walked inside and said, "Please come in, everyone."
Upon entering the shop, I said, “The chosen ones who come to sell things here all receive gold coins. I naturally don’t care what they sell. This is also the rule of the commercial church. Just like, although this is the parish of the Church of Life, I cannot prohibit the chosen ones of the God of Death from trading.”
The proprietress placed the book on the table again, saying, "I handle countless transactions here every day, I can't even remember if this book is still here."
“But this book has already caused several of the Chosen Ones in Duer City to behave strangely, and the Church of Life has the right to search your premises.” Morey snorted coldly and pushed open the door to the painting. “Let’s go in!”
Phil Gray and his group went into the inner room. There were many people trading today, so they probably didn't hear the argument outside. The transaction was still going on and on.
The proprietress followed behind them with a stern face, not uttering a word.
Phil Gray looked at each item in turn. The traded goods were still plentiful, but the one favored by the god of death was gone. He must have gone back to restock and, while he was at it, searched for the right hand of the dead.
Just as they were still searching carefully, they saw Ernest draw his longsword and point it at a woman in a red dress. Everyone at the trade fair immediately turned their attention elsewhere.
"What do you mean?" The woman looked at him in a panic. "You dare to make a move at the trade fair?"
"What book did you just hide in your spatial dimension?" Ernest asked in a deep voice.
"I...I didn't. What's it to you?" The woman glared at him and tried to push his sword away.
The other vendors glared angrily at Ernest, seeing him as someone who had come to cause trouble at the trade fair.
Morey quickly walked over, his cold gaze sweeping across the entire trading hall before finally settling on the woman. "I am the captain of the Tulip Knights squad of the Church of Life. I am now searching your space stone."
“I don’t have a space stone, and I certainly couldn’t have hidden any books. He must have bad eyesight and made a mistake.” The woman shook her head.
“There’s no way I could be mistaken. When I came over, there was a stack of books on her desk, but those books suddenly disappeared. Where else could they have gone if they weren’t put into a space stone?” Ernest continued to stare intently at her.
"Boss lady!" Morey called out to those behind him.
"What is it?" the proprietress asked, her face still stern and her tone impatient.
"Search her body for me."
"Why! Why is the Church of Life doing this?" the woman screamed angrily.
The proprietress also looked unwilling.
“If you don’t want to be personally searched by me in public, take out your space stone and let us check it,” Morey continued.
Phil Gray thought to himself, "This captain of the knight squad seems a bit domineering, but that's the only way to find out where the books came from."
"you……"
Those around seemed to find it unacceptable, and they rebuked, "Isn't there freedom of trade? What about the commercial church? Are you just letting the Church of Life do this?"
"Gentlemen, you are now in the territory of the Church of Life, and I have the right to take any action against you to ensure the safety of Duer City. The books she's carrying have already harmed several of God's Chosen, and I naturally cannot ignore this." Morey then looked at the woman. "What do you choose?"
The woman didn't say anything; she overturned the table and ran quickly towards the door.
"Quick, after her!" Morey ran in the direction the woman was heading.
Phil Gray hesitated for a moment, then followed after him.
Running out of the store, the woman's figure flickered like a ghost, passing through alley after alley, but she was quickly cornered in an open space by the knight captain, who was already at the Divine Prophecy level.
Phil Gray caught up, panting, while Patrick wiped the sweat from his brow. The knight, who had been wandering for years, and Eli, however, strolled along as if nothing was amiss.
Phil Gray thought to himself, "Looks like I'll have to improve my physical fitness in a while."
Morey had already caught the woman, but she slowly uttered four words: "Daydream!"
Morey froze on the spot, seemingly lost in a hallucination. Just as the woman was about to run away, Ernest's longsword came hurtling through the air, slashing directly at the woman's arm.
She had to pause for a moment, while Morey had already regained his senses, his hands flashing with green light, "Life Embrace!"
Green vines wrapped around the woman's body, and she struggled desperately, but the vines did not change at all.
"Don't bother. You can't break free unless you reach the Divine Prophecy level." Morey looked at her coldly. "Aren't you going to take out the book? Or wait for me to finish you off? I heard that if the chosen one of the Dream God dies, the illusion she creates will naturally disappear."
As he spoke, a spear appeared out of thin air in his hand, seemingly formed from divine power.
"I'll give it to you, please don't kill me!" Tears welled up in the woman's eyes, making her look pitiful.
A pink light flashed, and four books appeared on the ground. Patrick stepped forward and picked them up. "They are 'Peter and Anna'."
"What is your purpose in using these books to deceive the nobles and the chosen ones? Did you do this alone, or do you have other accomplices?" Morey asked again.
"I did it all by myself. I just couldn't stand those noble ladies. Please, let me go. I'll dispel their illusions right now and I won't hurt them," she pleaded. Her disheveled hair, accompanied by the constant stream of tears, made her look like a rose ravaged by rain against her red dress.
Phil Gray's gaze began to blur as he looked at her, and the whole world seemed to consist only of the red flower in front of him.
Something was wrong. He shook his head, focused his divine power on his eyes, and everything returned to normal. Looking at the woman lying on the ground, her expression was so cunning; she didn't look pitiful at all.
