The four traveled day and night towards the Church of Dawn on the west bank.
Malu Island was indeed a chaotic place. They encountered several groups of people who robbed them on the road, including not only those favored by the gods but also some ordinary people.
The island's vegetation was very dense, with grass taller than a person. The robbers hid in the grass and set up some traps.
But for those favored by the gods, it was simply not enough.
After a day and a half of travel, they finally saw the dilapidated church near dusk. Under the setting sun, the church, which had been completely burned, looked even more tragic. The roof was gone, and only half of the statues of the gods remained. The ground was covered with ashes from the fire.
"If it wasn't repaired, then why did Caroline see a complete church in the Eye of Fate?" Phil Gray and the others stopped and gazed at the church ruins from a distance, somewhat puzzled.
“Let’s go take a look.” Edith dismounted and walked towards the church.
The others nodded and followed.
Inside the dilapidated church, Phil Gray wandered around and unexpectedly encountered someone who, while surprising, made perfect sense!
Caroline lay on the ground, seemingly unconscious, and sitting cross-legged beside her was the very spirit who had followed him out of the corridor of death!
The undead's eyes were still white, and its face was still half white and half black, but the white area had expanded and spread towards the black half of its face.
“What is this guy?” Patrick took a few steps back in fright, but Edith grabbed him and said, “I can feel two opposing forces clashing within him.”
“He’s the cultist I was talking about who came out with me,” Phil Gray explained.
After saying that, he tried to walk towards Caroline. When he was about to put his hand on her nose to check if she was still alive, the ghost suddenly stood up and pushed him away with a divine force.
But it was very gentle, seemingly just to keep him away from Caroline.
"Is he protecting Caroline?" Eli asked. "Perhaps he recognized the girl as someone from their church."
“But we don’t know Caroline’s condition right now, and he won’t let us examine her…” Phil Gray frowned.
They stood there gazing for a long time, but saw no movement from the spirit. Caroline lay there, unresponsive no matter how many times they called to her.
When they try to get close, the undead will use their divine power to push them away. However, the undead can only easily push Phil Gray away. When Eli and the others try to get close, they are all sent flying far away.
"Hey, what level is this undead? Edith is already at the divine revelation level, and even she can't do anything about it." Patrick rubbed his head, which had hit the wall, and said through gritted teeth.
“Since he’s protecting Caroline, she’s bound to be in trouble.” Phil Gray was temporarily relieved, then continued, “This undead senior was probably a god in life.”
"What? That's powerful!" Patrick looked at the wooden-like undead in surprise, instantly feeling a terrifying sense of oppression.
“Are we going to wait here?” Eli asked.
“No need. Let’s leave a message and then leave,” Phil Gray said, picking up a piece of charcoal from the church ruins and writing a few words on a relatively clean patch of ground near Caroline and the spirits:
"I am Phil. If you encounter any difficulties, do not act alone. You may come to Jonas Plantation to find me. If not, meet me at the Cult of Dawn!"
They took one last, deep look at the church, mounted their horses, and rode away.
However, after they left, the entire church twisted and transformed into a brand new appearance.
The statue is now complete, but the daytime prophet's large eyes appear somewhat empty.
...
"Cousin, may the goddess of the sea and the god of fate protect you and give you a safe journey!" Patrick and Edith stood on the shore, while Phil Gray and Eli stood on the deck of a small boat with a rose in the water painted on it; this was Edith's boat.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure they get to the Western Continent safely," Colin said with a grin, looking rather simple-minded, which made Phil Gray wonder how he had mistaken him for a pirate captain.
Perhaps it was the chair that brought it good fortune.
Edith, in her red dress and red hair, stood out sharply against the deep blue sea, looking dashing and heroic, while Patrick beside her appeared somewhat petite and dependent.
Phil Gray couldn't help but smile, waved to them, and said goodbye.
They stayed at the plantation for two or three days, during which time they also had several pirates keep watch near the chapel of the Church of Dawn to observe the situation.
However, they had to leave because they needed to go back to find Ernest and go to the Cult of Dawn together. After all, they had made an agreement with Elder Glen to get to the Cult of Dawn as soon as possible.
As for the route to the Cult of Dawn in the Eastern Continent, after discussing it, they decided to return to Duer City, tell Patrick's servant to come looking for his young master, and then go to the Church of Life to collect their reward for completing the mission of escorting George. After all, they did complete the mission and delivered George to the capital of the Kingdom of Puna, didn't they?
Colin steered the ship, and after five days and five nights of sailing, they arrived at the coast of the Western Continent, at the same dock as before.
"Pirates are coming! That's Sea Rose's ship!" They had just moored their ship near the dock when they heard someone shouting wildly beside them.
"Quickly notify the guards!"
"No, no, no, they didn't hurt us!"
"Oh my god, run!"
Colin scratched his head awkwardly. "You guys should sneak down from the side. I won't come to the shore to see you off, or the guards will really come soon!"
“Okay.” Phil Gray nodded. “We’re off, see you later!”
Taking advantage of the commotion, they secretly disembarked and mingled with the crowd, then watched Colin's ship gradually sail away.
"Why did you leave so suddenly? Were you afraid the guards would come?" A male voice breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the boat leave. He wiped his leather shoes, which had been dirtied by the others. "Luckily I didn't run away. It'll be my turn to board the boat soon."
“They’re not afraid at all. If they were, they wouldn’t have killed so many heartless nobles at sea!” a girl said, her clear gaze fixed on the departing ship, showing no fear whatsoever.
"What does a little girl know!" The man combed his hair, said disdainfully, and then craned his neck to look at the approaching passenger ship.
The girl was somewhat indignant, but she did not argue with her.
Phil Gray quietly used the Fate Blade to shave off a lock of hair from the back of the man's head, exchanged a smile with Eli, and left.
"How unlucky can I be?" The man slipped as he boarded the boat and accidentally fell into the water.
The girl was also waiting for the ship, and she giggled.
Phil Gray and Eli bought two horses nearby and set off for the capital of the Kingdom of Puna.
