"You, I'm going to kill you all!"
Recalling the humiliating experience of being hung from a tree, he glared at Phil Gray and the others through gritted teeth.
He was about to rush forward and attack, but when he saw his uncle's face, he restrained himself.
"Shut up, Tracy!"
Morris's face darkened. He first silenced his humiliated nephew, then bowed to the guests present. "This is my nephew, Tracy. I apologize for the embarrassment."
The guests were buzzing with discussion, their eyes darting back and forth between Tracy and Phil Gray.
“Ahem, it’s alright, but these guests don’t seem to be locals. Isn’t it really going too far to hang Tracy on a tree and then impersonate her to attend the banquet?” An old nobleman sitting in the front row stood up and questioned.
“Ha, he rode his horse recklessly through the streets and injured people. If my friend hadn’t been quick-witted, we would have been seriously injured. He didn’t even apologize, but instead cursed at us. How could such a person with no manners be a follower of the Prophet of the Day? It’s a disgrace to the image of the gods. So, can’t I teach him a lesson on behalf of the gods?” Phil Gray retorted.
"This..." The old nobleman was at a loss for words. He didn't know if the bishop's nephew was like this, so he could only look at the bishop questioningly. When he saw the bishop's tacit agreement, he instantly understood and sat down awkwardly.
Morris's face darkened completely. He knew his nephew's personality very well and knew that what this man said was true. He glared at Tracy, "They're all telling the truth, aren't they?"
"Uncle, I was just in a hurry to get to the banquet, so I rushed. They're the ones who are awful; they broke my horse's leg!" After saying that, she glared angrily at Phil Gray and the others.
"Alright, you were in the wrong first, apologize to them!" Maurice snapped.
Tracy looked at her uncle in surprise. "No, how could I possibly apologize to them after they humiliated me like that?"
After saying that, she turned her head to the other side.
"You!" The bishop was furious. This nephew really had no sense of propriety. The people present were all nobles and clergy from Numas. First, he made a ruckus and disrupted the banquet, and then he made a mistake and refused to repent.
Having exhausted all other options, he waved to the two guards, "Take Tracy out and let him calm down." Then he turned to Phil Gray and said:
“I apologize to you on behalf of my nephew. We will not pursue the matter of you attending the banquet tonight without being invited.”
He bowed again.
The guests present praised the bishop, after all, the fact that the bishop of a city apologized to a stranger one after another fully demonstrated his magnanimity and virtue.
"Alright, let's leave it at that. Dear guests from afar, what brings you to our city of Numas? We'd be happy to provide you with the best possible service," the newly appointed city lord, Steven, said with a smile, as he approached Phil Gray and the others.
Although the rude and unruly bishop's nephew left a bad impression on him, he still had a good impression of the bishop and the city lord.
“We are here mainly because we have been summoned by the gods to complete a mission,” Phil Gray said with a smile.
"What?" Steven was confused, and the other guests were equally baffled.
Phil Gray was actually somewhat hesitant about whether to reveal his identity as the Holy Son at this banquet, but he also felt there was no point in hiding it, since there would be a coronation ceremony later and everyone would know anyway.
So I decided to abandon my previous idea of hiding and go ahead and show off.
"I have come at the invitation of the Prophet of the Day to become the Son of Dawn, to spread light throughout the world," Phil Gray said calmly, using the power of the Dawn to illuminate his face, as if he were under a spotlight.
Eli suppressed a laugh and, like Ernest, maintained a serious, servant-like demeanor.
Everyone present was stunned. Didn't the Cult of Dawn only have one Holy Son? Vincent of the Wyatt family, they all knew that.
“This…” The bishop narrowed his eyes. Some time ago, the Holy See did send a message saying that there would be a new Holy Son soon. This was internal information, known only to him and the new city lord Steven. Could this person really be the Holy Son?
He and Steven exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.
The nobles present were somewhat surprised, but their surprise was mixed with sneer, especially the old nobleman who had just spoken.
They seemed to have heard something very funny.
"Do you have any proof?" the bishop pressed.
“A mark of the gods.” Phil Gray revealed the sun mark on his wrist, which he had infused with divine power, and the sun mark emitted a golden light.
All the Chosen Ones of Dawn felt the presence of the gods. They couldn't help but look up at the sky. Even with the roof blocking their view, they seemed to see the dazzling golden sun and began to praise the Prophet of the Day and the Church of Dawn!
An excited look appeared in the bishop's eyes. He had been skeptical of the news from the Holy See, thinking that the higher-ups might have some other plan or that some family might have caused some trouble by arbitrarily assigning a holy son. He never expected that there would actually be a holy son with the mark of God!
After all, this is extremely rare. Vincent's appearance alone made them ecstatic, let alone the appearance of two divinely appointed holy sons in the same era!
There were probably a whole basketful of people on the field whose jaws dropped in utter astonishment.
"Holy Son! My God! It truly is a sign from the gods!" a silent nobleman suddenly exclaimed.
“I’ve never seen a divine mark before either. After all, Vincent wouldn’t easily show it to others!” said a young chosen one of the gods, who had previously been arrogant and unwilling to exchange pleasantries with others, in surprise.
"Excellent! The glory of the Dawn Cult is about to be restored!" Steven grinned from ear to ear. Moreover, the Holy Son himself came to attend his inauguration banquet. This is incredibly prestigious!
