Chapter 5 Mounts

Kroeber shook his head at that.

"I'm sorry, Frank. It's just leather armor made from tanned and stitched monster hides. I'm not so poor that I have to beg for something like this."

In the final analysis, it is not worth it. The Golden Rose Family has already invested a lot in Krober, which is enough to consume the family affection that Lilith left for him during her lifetime.

If he actively asks for it again, he will probably use up Krober's own favors.

If he owed too many favors, the Golden Rose Family's impression of him would probably decline, which would be detrimental to his future development. Naturally, he would not let such a small matter affect his future support.

"That's true, but Adam Golden Rose from the Golden Rose Family happened to be passing through Moonlight City. He's said to be bringing you resources for this month's cultivation. Are you sure you want to meet him?"

Frank showed a mischievous smile on his face, as if he was very happy about this trick he played on Kroeber.

Krober's reaction did not surprise Frank. He just stared at him with wide eyes, as if saying, "Wow, you were waiting for me here."

"Well, Frank, I was wondering why you suddenly brought up this topic. It turns out you were just setting a trap for me to fall into."

"Bring me to the dinner party tonight, Frank. As payment for your trick, I'm going to give you a feast so horrible it'll keep you awake for three days."

This was of course a joke. With the financial resources of the Moonlight Mushroom family, Frank wouldn't feel the slightest bit of pain even if Kroeber ate as much as he wanted every day.

Frank also enjoyed this kind of joke between friends.

"Okay, if you can make me feel pain, you're awesome. I'll just provide you with a year's worth of food, all monster meat."

“Hahahahahaha…”

The two of them chatted and laughed as they walked into the castle.

Inside the castle.

Krober looked at the luxurious castle and couldn't help but admire it.

"Although this isn't my first time here, every time I enter Moonlight Castle, I'm always dazzled. I can only say it's worthy of being called the Moonlight Mushroom Family."

The Moonlight Castle is a fortress with a distinct military pioneering style. It is built entirely of marble and is surrounded by a wide moat that is three meters wide and seven meters deep.

The castle's outer walls are covered with holes for shooting and placing spears, and the storage rooms inside are filled with large quantities of arrows, logs and other items all year round.

Frank took Krober into the guest room and told him that someone would call him after the dinner started. Then he hurried away, as if there were many other things waiting for him to deal with.

And Krober also waited quietly in the room, thinking about how to express his demands after meeting Uncle Adam.

Knight Foster, who had been standing by and watching, took the initiative to speak.

"Master, are you worried about how to talk to Baron Adam?"

Kroeber nodded.

"I think there's absolutely no need for you to waste your time on this kind of thing. Baron Adam loves you far more than you think, but you just haven't noticed it yet."

Krober undoubtedly fell silent when he heard this.

Perhaps it was his identity as a time traveler, or the excessive hostility he had suffered since childhood, which led to his rather cold-blooded approach to dealing with things. He believed that the Golden Rose Family was only treating him with affection and never thought about himself.

Or perhaps, at most, they took into account their own outstanding talents, but did not take into account the so-called family ties.

As for what Foster said, it's not that Kroeber hadn't thought about it, but the general environment for all aristocrats was like that. He didn't quite believe that an extremely powerful earl's family would attach so much importance to family affection that they would not even let go of the fourth child of a married-in family.

"Perhaps, Grandpa Foster, there's no such thing as kinship among nobles. Everything is just an exchange of interests. I'd rather believe that."

As if he had heard this kind of words many times, Knight Foster did not react at all. He just bowed respectfully and left the room, leaving the space for Krober to be alone.
