Chapter 19 Clearing the Subway Station

Ji Yuetong was starting to look forward to her future happy life.

But An Qingwu wasn't as shameless as her. Her face was flushed red, and she turned her head away, ignoring Ji Yuetong.

"Xiao Wu, it's your turn next."

After Zhang Lin escorted An Qingge upstairs, he waved to An Qingwu.

Compared to An Qingge, An Qingwu was lighter and thinner. She was not as generous as An Qingge in terms of the future child, but her legs were long and straight.

Zhang Lin picked her up and tossed her gently. Logically, she should have clung to the top of the wall, but with a little more effort from Zhang Lin, she would have made it up.

An Qingwu seemed lost in thought and didn't react at all. Luckily, Zhang Lin reacted quickly and caught her again; otherwise, her small frame might not have been able to withstand the fall.

What are you thinking about?

Zhang Lin held the boneless An Qingwu in his arms, somewhat speechless. The little person in his arms radiated a burning heat, and was soft and comfortable to hold. But what time was it? There were still zombies on the street. Time couldn't be wasted like this.

"Ah! I...I'm fine, brother-in-law, let's do it again!" An Qingwu came back to her senses, her mind in turmoil, completely lost, and instinctively replied.

She was completely stunned.

The moment Zhang Lin embraced her, An Qingwu felt a sudden, inexplicable surge of emotion. Her heart raced, her body burned, and her mind went completely blank, forgetting everything she was supposed to do.

"This is just too outrageous!" An Qingwu thought to herself, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Be careful this time, don't make the same mistake again," Zhang Lin said, his tone slightly stern.

"Hmm~"

An Qingwu perked up this time. Even though her heart was still pounding wildly, her rationality had returned, and she knew what she needed to do.

Using the same trick as before, Zhang Lin got An Qingwu onto the track.

Finally, there's Ji Yuetong.

"bring it on."

Zhang Lin opened his arms to her.

Seeing this, she threw herself into Zhang Lin's arms without hesitation. She was slightly heavier than An Qingwu, but to Zhang Lin, that little weight was nothing, and he easily put her on the track.

"You'd better watch out, my brother-in-law has a girlfriend!"

As soon as Ji Yuetong arrived, An Qingwu warned her, feeling that Ji Yuetong had been too forward; she herself hadn't acted that way...

"Hehe..." Ji Yuetong smiled slightly and said insincerely, "I know."

Finally, there's Zhang Lin.

He simply took a few steps back, then took a running start, and as he approached the wall, he leaped up, grabbing the top of the wall with both hands, and flipped himself over.

After getting on the tracks, Zhang Lin and the others turned on their flashlights and headed towards the terminal station.

As Zhang Lin predicted, there were no zombies in the tracks.

After all, the subway station is protected by railings, while this small section of track outside is either on an elevated track or protected by a wall, so zombies can't get in at all. Before the apocalypse, no one could enter the tracks.

The four of them walked along the track for over ten kilometers. If they kept walking without stopping, they would arrive before dark.

However, neither the An sisters nor Ji Yuetong had the physical strength to do that.

Therefore, Zhang Lin could only slow down and walk slowly with them. They walked and stopped until late at night, and finally reached their destination.

Like other subway stations, the terminal station was filled with zombies.

Zhang Lin had considered this issue before. After much thought, he felt that it was very safe to travel on the tracks. He could deal with the zombies in the subway station at his own pace, and it wouldn't be a big problem. So, he ultimately decided to take the subway tracks.

It was late at night, not a good time for fighting, so Zhang Lin and the four women found a place to sit down on the tracks to rest and take a nap. He would deal with the zombies when it got light.

Since he was speaking in a low voice, half asleep and half awake, Zhang Lin stood up and climbed over the railing to the subway station when dawn broke.

"hiss--"

"roar--"

The zombies seemed to have gone without food for a long time. When they suddenly saw a living person, they all became excited and rushed towards Zhang Lin.

Zhang Lin, of course, was not going to sit idly by and wait to die. He had already planned ahead. He jumped onto the security scanner next to him, stood on the high ground, took out his pistol, and began shooting at the zombies below.

The security scanner wasn't very high, and the zombies could still reach it by stretching their hands, but Zhang Lin wasn't one to be trifled with. Although it was summer, he had changed into a pair of thick leather boots that he wore in winter, and he had also specially chosen thick trousers, tucking the trouser legs into the boots, making his protection very thorough.

He shot at the zombies in the distance and kicked those that were close by. Whenever a zombie got close, he could kick it away and then finish it off with a gun.

The gunshots attracted more zombies, and Zhang Lin stood on high ground, slowly clearing the zombies out of the subway station.

Not far away, in the subway duty room around the corner, a group of people were peering out the glass window, but they weren't facing Zhang Lin, so they couldn't see anything.

"Gunshots! The rescue team is here! It must be the authorities coming to save us!" A disheveled middle-aged woman couldn't help but shed tears of excitement.

"We're finally saved!" A little girl with freckles on her face also shed tears. "Oh my god, if no one had come soon, we would have starved to death."

"Everyone, don't cause trouble for the rescue team. We'll stay here and wait for them to clear out the zombies before we go out," a young man stepped forward, remaining calm.

The young man's name was Niu Lei. He was a subway station attendant. After the apocalypse, they were very lucky. None of the people in the duty room turned into zombies. They hid in the duty room and escaped the disaster.

During this time, Niu Lei risked his life to retrieve a batch of food from a store near the subway station, which has allowed everyone to survive until now.

However, he couldn't guarantee that he would come back alive if he went out again.

Therefore, Niu Lei was very excited about the arrival of the rescue team.

Hearing the gunshots outside, he felt a sense of relief.

As the zombies' howls subsided, a look of relief finally appeared on the faces of the people on duty.

After a while, the gunfire subsided.

They could hear footsteps, sometimes near, sometimes far, and occasionally gunshots.

This must be the rescue team clearing out the scattered zombies.

Finally, the zombies' roars stopped, and the gunfire ceased completely.

The people in the duty room cheered.

Niu Lei pushed open the door and led the group to look for the rescue team, but after circling around, they only saw zombie corpses all over the ground.

There was no sign of a rescue team at all!

"Could it be that the rescue team didn't find us, thought there were no survivors here, and left?" he muttered to himself. Then he turned a corner and saw a man standing by the tracks, kicking over the guardrail, and then pulling several women up from under the tracks.

Suddenly, a very absurd idea popped into Niu Lei's mind.

Could it be... that this man cleared out all these zombies?
