After chatting with Lu's father and mother for a few words, Louis ignored his injuries, tore off his things, and rolled off the bed.
Although he was very weak, Louis could feel that his body seemed to be returning to normal inexplicably quickly.
At first, it was difficult for Louis to stand up, but soon, Louis walked towards the gatehouse, walking faster and faster.
Even Lu's father and mother, who were almost beside him, couldn't stop him in time.
Then Louis' steps became faster and faster, until he started to run, dressed in a hospital outfit, heading towards the first floor.
His footsteps were as rapid as the sound of raindrops falling outside the window.
The pungent smell of disinfectant in the corridor rushed into my nose.
He opened the door to the corridor and ran downstairs quickly.
Finally, at a corner on the first floor.
In an empty ward.
In the center of the mourning hall was placed the girl's portrait. She was smiling, and the black and white photo shocked Louis' nerves.
He didn't understand why such an ordinary day would be turned out like this.
What puzzled him most was.
Why would they deliberately kill the girl?
Was it because she was blocking their way?
Haha, if that's the case, it's ridiculous.
What on earth do they regard human life as!!!
As a good person who sticks to his duty, he couldn't understand why something like this happened.
Why, do this!!!
"Young man, you are..."
At the door of the ward, an old woman in white mourning clothes looked at Louis with some confusion. She didn't know this young man.
Of course she didn't know him. After all, Louis and Xiaolu were just strangers who met by chance.
The only time we spent together was when we met by chance after school.
But in the girl's eyes, Louis was not just a passerby. She liked Louis, liked Louis's exuberant smile, and liked Louis' kindness, but she could no longer say these words.
"Hello, I'm..." Louis' voice stopped abruptly. He paused, then said, "Her friend."
"friend?"
"You're wearing a hospital gown. Are you a patient here?"
"Forget it, if you know Xiaolu, come in with me to pay your respects." The old woman sighed, she wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief, then pushed open the door and walked in.
At this moment, Louis felt as if his feet were filled with iron and every step he took was so heavy.
But my heart was beating as fast as the raindrops outside the window.
He finally stepped into the room.
A girl covered with a white sheet was lying on the hospital bed.
On the table next to her was a black and white photo of her and a mourning hall was set up.
Louis stared at the hospital bed covered with white cloth, and his heart turned cold.
This is murder!!
It's murder!
It was that black van that killed her right in front of him!
And the reason was simply that the girl was blocking their way!!!
"The deceased is gone, please accept my condolences." said the old woman.
These words were supposed to be said by Louis to the old woman.
After all, for a girl, old women are her relatives.
And Louis was just an outsider.
The old woman blurted out these words, and she didn't know why she said them.
Maybe it was because he saw Louis' shaking shoulders and the tears trembling and falling from the corners of his eyes that he said it subconsciously.
There was a strong wind outside the window, the rain was continuous, and a flash of lightning flashed, followed by "boom boom boom——"
A thunder roared through the sky.
"It's strange. There's obviously still food at home, but she has to go shopping in the afternoon every day, and she has to go at that exact time. If she could go home earlier, maybe this wouldn't have happened."
The old woman sighed, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes.
The speaker may not mean it, but the listener may take it seriously.
Louis' shoulders trembled twice, he slowly turned his head to look at the old woman, and an idea flashed through his mind.
He asked, "What do you mean by that? What do you mean by having to go shopping on time?"
The old woman sighed, "Two years ago, I don't know why, I went to buy groceries once a week, but gradually it became more frequent, every day, and I had to go in the afternoon."
"I remember one time, she left home at five o'clock, but returned home at seven in the evening."
That time, Louis remembered, he was late and was punished by the teacher to clean the school toilet.
So school ended an hour later.
It happened to be a rainy day that day and he didn't bring an umbrella, so he waited until the rain stopped before leaving school.
That day, he thought the girl had already gone home.
But unexpectedly, on the way home, I met the girl by chance. She was holding an umbrella.
There was a vegetable basket hanging around his waist, which was full of oranges.
Combine the old woman's words with the memories in your mind.
There are not so many coincidences and accidental encounters.
She was waiting for me on purpose.
But what is the purpose?
She just wanted to have a chat with herself.
So what about today...
She shouldn't have met him there.
Louis invited Wen Xiaolu to have coffee, which took up quite a bit of time.
If it weren't for Louis, Xiaolu wouldn't have crossed the road with him at that time.
He would not have been hit and killed by a black van at that intersection.
“If I hadn’t helped her at the beginning, she wouldn’t have died…” Louis collapsed, covering his face with his hands and kneeling on the ground.
How on earth does he still have the nerve to think he's done anything good?
