Chapter 45 Classification

Chapter 45 Classification

The movement on his side attracted the attention of those "things".

The dim light shone on their pale and thin faces. The skin and bones caused by years of hunger made their eyes look particularly large.

The pure black eyes were extremely lifeless, as if they were filled with a pool of stagnant water that never made any sound, and no light could penetrate them.

Two inverted triangle-shaped dark shadows were left on the lower eyelids, and the ends were the same as their pointed chins.

Sun Yuancheng felt an unbearable stinging pain in his eyes and his body shrank back unconsciously. After a long time, he smelled a strong stench.

It sounded like secretions such as urine and feces fermenting, or like a corpse that had been dead for a long time emitting a foul odor.

It was difficult for him to describe what he saw.

Despite the dim light, he could see that those "things" were humans, or rather, human children.

But the scene layout and the nausea floating in the air all reminded him of the farms in the countryside where livestock were imprisoned.

Directly in front of him was a cement walkway that seemed to have no end in sight. On both sides of the walkway were walls about half the height of an adult. Inside the walls were walls again, cutting the long space into several small cubes, and the children were locked in these small cubes.

At this moment, they put their hands on the wall and stretched their necks to look out.

Sun Yuancheng stared at them, vaguely sensing that something was wrong.

Although their bodies appear too thin due to malnutrition, the size of their bones shows that many of the children here are nearly ten years old.

At the age of ten, a normal child should be in the fourth grade of elementary school.

However, their expressions were very silly, more like newborn babies less than one year old.

There was some sticky unknown liquid remaining on some parts of his body. Sun Yuancheng couldn't help but get goose bumps and wanted to escape from here immediately.

But he was thinking about the mission, so he still went forward.

The children's eyes were like cameras that aimed automatically; with every step he took, the children's gaze moved a little.

It's not scary if one person moves, but it's scary if everyone is looking at him.

When I walked in and took a look, I felt even more strange.

Their faces looked dull, but there were obvious differences in the subtle details.

The child in the first box on the left has his mouth slightly turned down, and his two hands placed on the wall are very close to each other. It is obvious that he is naturally pessimistic and lacks a sense of security.

Most of the children in the second room had sharp eyes, upturned eyebrows, and their hands were casually placed on both sides of the wall.

Occasionally, scars were seen on the sides of their faces, probably because they had been in a fight before, and they were prone to irritability and temper.

Looking at them one by one, it seems that these children are classified according to their different personalities.

Why classification?

Sun Yuancheng didn't quite understand.

Does this have anything to do with his mission?

Putting that question aside, how could he save these children?

Does taking them out count as saving them?

There was no door around the fence, so it looked like the only way to get these children out was from above.

Sun Yuancheng put his hand halfway into the fence and didn't see any obstacles. Just as he was about to make the next attempt, he heard some strange noises coming from the corridor in the distance.

The most obvious sound was the rolling wheels, with two footsteps of varying heaviness hidden underneath. I could vaguely hear someone talking, but it was too far away to make out what they were saying.

The sound was getting closer and closer. Sun Yuancheng originally wanted to climb out from where he fell at the beginning, but when he ran over there, he found that it seemed to be pressed down by something and he couldn't push it open.

In a hurry, he jumped into a block without hesitation, got to the innermost part, curled up his body, and hid himself among a group of children.

The wheels seemed to be rolling on his face, causing a burning pain and a strong sense of oppression that made it almost impossible for him to breathe.

Go over there quickly.

Go over there quickly.

However, luck did not favor him this time.

The wheels stopped suddenly in front of the block where he was hiding.

“Click.”

He then heard a man and a woman talking.

The woman seemed to be shaking her head: "The new ones delivered are too little, not enough for cutting."

"If it really doesn't work, don't be so strict in categorizing, and kill the inferior ones as well."

"...That's fine, let's talk about it in the evening. This is not your fault. You pushed that thing too hard yesterday and broke several of them. Otherwise, there would be no need to kill so many children today."

The other voice didn't reply. After a few seconds, he seemed to be pinching something, then grinned and said, "Why are you crying?"

The child uttered a suppressed whimper.

"Bang!"

The body was thrown heavily to the ground, and the child's mouth opened instinctively, about to burst into tears, but at the last moment he swallowed the pain back because of excessive panic.

Tears welled up in his eyes and his lower lip was bitten.

The children around him hugged him tightly, and a few tiny cries floated around like haunting ghosts.

"Look, they don't even dare to cry. What can these people do when they grow up?" He grabbed another child in the other block, and then a suppressed curse came out of his mouth.

"Fuck, this bastard bit me."

He was furious and slapped the child who bit him hard. The child was knocked against the hard and cold wall. Two lines of scarlet blood instantly flowed from his forehead. He closed his eyes and fainted.

The remaining children were angry at his brutality, but they were more mocking of the unconscious child.

"Who told you to catch it?"

The female voice said something in a gloomy tone, showing no sympathy for him.

"Hmph," he gripped the handlebars and pushed the cart forward, "Let's go. When the bell rings for the first time, I'll come back and kill all these kids."

The man said nothing more, and the two men pushed the cart away.

After a long time, until he was sure that he could no longer hear any extra sounds, Sun Yuancheng finally dared to breathe safely.

He let go of the child in his arms - the previous noise frightened the child. He grabbed Sun Yuancheng's clothes, his eyelashes trembling, sending him a distress signal.

Sun Yuancheng sighed and then hugged him in his arms.

When he stood up, he found that many children around him were pulling his clothes.

What's wrong with him?

Did you accidentally get into a nest full of timid rabbits?

Sun Yuancheng climbed out of the cube quietly, wanting to take more children out as soon as the two men left.

Although he didn't know where to take the child, and the mission didn't tell him, he could only take things one step at a time given the current situation.

He lifted up the armpits of the child at the front of the timid block, and just as he was exerting force with both hands, he heard the child suddenly scream loudly.

"Oh my god."

Sun Yuancheng cried out in a low voice and quickly covered the child's mouth. Unexpectedly, the originally cowardly child suddenly gained strength from somewhere and started biting Sun Yuancheng's hand.

He took a few steps back in pain.

What's going on?

The children were quiet when he was hiding in there just now. What happened?

What made him feel even worse was that the child's scream seemed to have infected others, and now all the children in the cubes started screaming.

The sound is extremely sharp and can cause considerable damage to the human eardrum and brain.

Sun Yuancheng was so disturbed by the sound that he just wanted to run away, but he still endured the discomfort and continued to hold the child out.

But no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't hold up the child who was so thin that it seemed like only bones were left.

It seemed as if a heavy stone weighing tens of millions of pounds was hanging under the child's feet. Sun Yuancheng looked down and was suddenly startled.

The light here was dim, and the wall blocked some of the light. He didn't see the child's feet before, but when he saw them now, he felt as if all his strength was instantly drained away.

The child was not wearing shoes, or rather, he couldn't wear shoes at all.

The skeleton looks like that of a child of about ten years old, but the size of the feet is no different from that of a baby.

They shrank into two small lumps, and the lower ends were connected to densely packed flesh-colored silk strips, the other ends of which were connected to the ground, firmly fixing the child there.

No wonder he couldn’t hold her before.

Sun Yuancheng was so nervous that cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

wrong.

Since the mission says that he can be saved, there must be a way, but now I can’t carry him... What went wrong?

Before he could figure it out, he heard the sound of wheels rolling that had disappeared before coming again from the distance. This time it was much more urgent than last time. It was obvious that the man and woman from before had discovered something was wrong.

Sun Yuancheng gritted his teeth and was about to drill into the block again, but he inadvertently caught a glimpse of a little light coming from the place where he had rolled in before.

Can I go out?

He reached over there without hesitation, pushed his hand upwards, and the door opened.

Sun Yuancheng quickly climbed up and closed the door. He heard a series of angry insults and a child crying from downstairs.

well.

Sun Yuancheng sighed weakly.

However, before he could recover, he heard an unspeakable roar again.

He was very familiar with this voice.

When he was on the swing, he was in great trouble because of the dogs below that bared their teeth at him.

Sun Yuancheng cursed in his heart that God was going to kill him, but he took a quick step and ran forward.

I don't know how long I ran, but I vaguely felt that there was a dog chasing me from behind. Sun Yuancheng didn't dare to stop. Just as he reached a corner, Sun Yuancheng sprinted forward suddenly, but suddenly bumped into a hard object.

The powerful impact made him lose his balance instantly, and Sun Yuancheng fell heavily to the ground. In just a few seconds, he seemed to feel the dog's tongue behind him licking his cheek.

Sun Yuancheng held back his tears.

It’s over, I’m really going to die here. Oh God, I’ve done so many bad things in my life, and this is what I deserve.

I just wonder if the dog can bite my face one last time. I’m so handsome…

As he was thinking of his last words, he heard a very familiar voice coming from the front.

"Sun Yuancheng?"

Hearing the hurried footsteps fading away, the two people in the basement stopped insulting and beating the child.

The man spoke first: "You clearly found him before, why didn't you catch him immediately?"

The female voice laughed: "Put out a bait, you can catch more prey, there is no need to rush."

"You lied to him, didn't you?" The woman continued pushing the cart. "What bell will ring before these children are killed? By the time the bell rings, the children's bodies will have long been cold."

The man raised his mouth and smiled silently, his tongue dancing on his dry lips.

"I can have a good meal tonight."
