Chapter 6: The Beginning of Cultivation

"Oh no, something big has happened!"

The next day, Xu Luo finished his morning lessons as usual and walked down the mountain in a happy mood, but saw his junior sister, who had been out for a few days, flying back in a panic.

"What's wrong?"

Xu Luo asked curiously.

This junior sister is usually very impetuous, so he actually didn't take her seriously.

"Didn't you hear all the bells yesterday?"

"The Xuansu bell rang forty-five times!"

Su Ying put her hands on her hips, feeling that this junior fellow apprentice really didn't care about the sect.

"That's forty-five calls. This is to summon all the disciples outside to return to the sect. Isn't this a big deal?"

Xuansu Mountain has a total of eight peaks.

The main peak is Xuansu Peak, and there are seven other peaks: Tianji, Tianmen, Tiandu, Tianquan, Tianwen, Tianren and Tianxuan.

Except for Tiandu Peak which only has three kittens, the other seven peaks are populated with people, ranging from dozens to hundreds.

The eight peaks together have over a thousand people, and these are all formal disciples, not counting menial servants, Taoist servants, and guardian armored soldiers.

This is just on the mountain. There are many Taoist palaces and Taoist temples at the foot of the mountain, which recruit disciples and provide a steady stream of disciples for Xuansu Mountain. Therefore, there are actually a lot of people in Xuansu Mountain.

Now that he is summoning all his disciples outside at once, it must mean something big has happened.

Xu Luo thought of the two disciples from Qingyang Mountain that he met.

Intuitively, he thought the matter was related to those two people.

After all, it was only after they arrived that Xuan Sufeng rang the Xuan Su Bell.

"It's indeed a big deal, but what does it have to do with disciples like us? There are only you and me on Tiandu Peak. Do you want to participate?"

It’s not that Xu Luo doesn’t care, but as a disciple at the Qi Gathering level, he can’t care even if he wants to.

"Why don't we call Su Li back?"

Suying was feeling a little down.

I feel sad that I can't help when my master has something to do.

"Big Brother..."

A figure like an iron tower appeared in Xu Luo's mind.

"We can't contact the eldest brother right now. He will return after the Xuansu Bell rings forty-five times."

"That's true."

Suying nodded.

When the Xuansu bell rings, any disciple of Xuansu Mountain who is in this world and practices the Xuansu Mountain Dharma will feel it.

Xu Luo could see that Suying was uneasy because of the sudden ringing of forty-five bells.

Especially since her master was not around, there was no one at Tiandu Peak who could take the lead, which made her feel even more insecure.

"Don't worry, Senior Sister. There are thousands of fellow disciples on Xuansu Mountain, including those refining the spirit and returning to the void. What could possibly happen? Perhaps the old Heavenly Master has opened the Heavenly Gate, and the fellow disciples from the Seven Mountains want to take advantage of this opportunity to hold a fasting and offering ceremony to celebrate."

Xu Luo comforted her gently.

"Zhaijiao meeting?"

Suying's eyes lit up. She loved lively occasions the most, so she was naturally looking forward to such grand events as the Fasting and Praying Ceremony.

In fact, she wanted to join in the fun when the old Taoist priest ascended to heaven, but Tiandu Taoist priest didn't want to, so she wanted to drag Xu Luo along. Unfortunately, she didn't get her wish in the end.

Xuanmen is one family.

Among the seven mountains and five roads, dragon and tiger are the most respected.

The ascension of the old Heavenly Master is naturally a grand event, so what Xu Luo said about holding a fasting and offering ceremony to celebrate is possible.

Of course, for Suying at this time, this is it!

Seeing the bright smile on the girl's face, Xu Luo breathed a sigh of relief.

"Senior Sister, I'm going to practice!"

Xu Luo quickly said goodbye and left.

"Go, go!"

After hearing Xu Luo's words, Su Ying was in a good mood. She waved her hands happily and told Xu Luo to get out.

"By the way, Su Wen, Senior Sister Zhang also asked me why you didn't go with me this time."

"Next time, definitely next time!"

Xu Luo paused, then walked faster.

A girl's silver bell-like laughter came from behind.

Xu Luo shook his head, returned to his room, and lit the dragon and tiger incense!

This is a specialty from the Tiger Roar Peak of Longhu Mountain. Lighting it while meditating will achieve twice the result with half the effort.

Dragon-Tiger Incense is made from the saliva of a hundred-year-old tiger, the ambergris of a whale dragon, and various other spices and herbs, all refined using secret methods.

This incense is very popular in Taoism. Whenever it is refined, it will be snapped up by fellow disciples from the seven mountains and five paths.

There are actually only a few finished products produced in a year.

When this thing is lit, it has the effect of concentrating the mind, and it is more helpful for beginners to calm their mind and settle their character.

Xu Luo had already passed the stage of settling his mind and determining his character. He lit the dragon and tiger incense at this time because he was ready to formally learn the Taoist mantras, and with the help of the dragon and tiger incense, it would be easier.

When the dragon and tiger incense was lit, a wisp of green smoke swirled in the room, and a faint fragrance filled the air.

This was not Xu Luo's first time experiencing dragon and tiger incense. He had lit it at least once when he first practiced the Taoist scripture "Huangting Da Dao Jing".

Although it is just one stick, this incense is actually very durable and can be used for a month if it is kept lit all the time.

When Xu Luo first entered the sect and received the ordination, the bell rang eighteen times and he was recognized as a seed of Taoism, so he was awarded this dragon and tiger incense.

He didn't practice the mantra before because his cultivation was not enough. Recently, after reciting the Huangting Da Dao Sutra, Xu Luo felt that his cultivation had improved greatly. He felt that it was enough for him to practice the mantra, so he gave it a try.

The practice of Taoism in this world is mainly based on the four realms of refining essence into Qi, refining Qi into spirit, refining spirit into emptiness, and returning to emptiness to merge with the Tao.

But in fact, both Qi gathering and foundation building are just forging the foundation of the Tao.

In the Qi Gathering Stage, there is no such thing as different levels of Qi Gathering.

It is nothing more than successfully reciting Taoist scriptures and then entering the Tao.

Then he accumulated spiritual energy by reciting Taoist scriptures to prepare for the 100-day foundation-building.

When you feel that you have gathered enough Qi and that it is complete and you can build the foundation, then you can naturally stop gathering Qi and build the foundation of the Tao.

Therefore, the extent to which Qi is gathered varies from person to person and from Taoist scriptures to Taoist scriptures.

However, practicing Taoism is a gradual process. There is no such thing as being greedy for quick success or rushing into things recklessly. When you reach the point, you will naturally gain enlightenment. There is no need to force it. It will come naturally.

If you don’t realize it, no matter how hard you try, you will never achieve it in your lifetime.

It’s not that there are not people who are greedy for quick success and reckless advances, and cannot bear the pain of slow improvement, so they turn to studying unorthodox methods. But they are just sorcerers of unorthodox ways, practicing the techniques but not the Tao, practicing the Tao but not the mind. In the end, everything is just a dream and they cannot achieve great things.

There is no distinction between realms in foundation building either.

It is not like what Xu Luo knows, that it takes decades of hard work to build a foundation.

If building a foundation is so difficult, what's the point of practicing Taoism?

A cultivator must obey the will of heaven. If building a foundation is so difficult, it can only be said that heaven does not allow you to practice Taoism. It is better for you to become a warrior.

The Taoist foundation-building process only takes a hundred days.

It is called 100-day foundation building.

Of course, a hundred days is just a general term. Some people can complete the foundation building in seventy or eighty days, while others can complete it in one hundred and twenty or thirty days.

It depends on your personal situation. You should build a foundation that you are satisfied with, and then you can truly embark on the path of cultivation.

The most notable feature of foundation building is the ability to release spiritual energy, control magical tools, and fly in the air.

Xu Luo thought that his Qi gathering was not perfect, so he stayed here. In fact, he had been able to gather Qi for quite a long time.

Although he was still gathering his Qi, it did not prevent him from studying various Taoist spells.

Who among those who practice Taoism doesn’t want to call the wind and rain, and turn beans into soldiers?
