He reached agreements with several counties and cities that originally had lighter taxes, and promoted improved varieties on a large scale in their counties. He could even lower taxes further, and they only needed to pay according to the previous amount of grain.
The only requirement was that Ruihai needed locals to pay according to the owners of the land, rather than according to individuals.
I don't know how Ruihai will implement this agreement in detail. Even if good seeds can greatly increase the yield per mu, those stingy landowners will not easily agree to the policy of equalizing the land tax after obtaining good seeds.
But there is no doubt that he succeeded, with both a big stick and a sweet date.
It took more than a year and almost two years. It was first piloted in remote areas, and after it was proven that there was a bumper grain harvest, it was promoted throughout the western part of Jiangnan.
During this period, he encountered many main forces. At least Rui Hai encountered multiple assassinations in Longxing Prefecture, the core area of Yidao Land, and almost died.
However, Ruihai survived, and although the rejection from below was still severe, the increase in production brought about by the two factors was not as much as 10% or 20%.
Although the later system of equalizing the land tax caused considerable damage to the local wealthy families, after all, they had no way to spread the tax burden to the tenants, farmhands or refugees below, which still brought them certain losses.
However, they gained more. The two improvements to fertile land were not just one or two levels, but at least 50%. If there were dedicated personnel to take good care of it and provide enough fertility, it could even be doubled easily.
Well, because I haven’t made the fertilizer, the yield is still affected to a certain extent after the promotion of good varieties.
But it's not a big problem. The larger aristocratic families all have people who practice Taoism. As long as they count down their subordinates and gather a certain amount of Yi Wood Qi, the corresponding output will increase.
And the improvement is so huge that it is very beneficial for many people.
The whole incident went smoothly.
The two strategies I created are indeed good. If the fixed cake does not become bigger, it will be harder than climbing to the sky to get part of the cake from others.
But if the cake becomes bigger, and the cake the other party gets is not smaller but bigger than the original cake, it will become much easier to implement some corresponding reforms, and the other party's rejection and resistance will not be too great.
However, the operation of Ruihai Economics is indispensable in this. Personally speaking, my operation is definitely not as perfect as Ruihai's.
I guess I will just use force to push through.
Directly use a big stick in one hand and a sweet date in the other.
Whether you like it or not, everything will be leveled directly. Relatively speaking, Ruihai's operation is more sophisticated than mine.
Even after making these decisions, Ruihai must have consulted with his superiors.
Because soon after that, the higher-ups decided to implement this policy.
The key experimental site is in the southeastern coastal area, and the northern areas will also be implemented on a large scale.
Overall, after the Great Xia Empire had experienced multiple hardships in succession, the sudden appearance of such a unique and excellent breed was a good thing for the Great Xia Empire.
The image of the old man that I transformed in Ruihai was actually placed in a temple and worshipped as a god.
Many people in this world have the tradition of worshipping immortals and gods, but most of them worship their ancestors rather than the gods created by heaven and earth.
Fighting against the sky, fighting against the earth, fighting against people, the heroes have been through various struggles for more than 800 years since the founding of the country. They have a sense of pride and indomitable spirit in their hearts. Therefore, they admire powerful people, but they admire more powerful heroes and outstanding figures from their own race.
Yuan Li is one of them.
What I find strange is that with the promotion of good varieties, the practice of the Sutra of the Past Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has become increasingly complete and clear.
However, I was not worshipped as a Tibetan Bodhisattva in the temple. Instead, I was worshipped as the god of agriculture in the temple.
I don't think there is anything wrong with this. Ksitigarbha may be a powerful martial arts practitioner in mythology and legends, and his thoughts are extraordinary enough. But when it comes to being truly rooted in the land, perhaps the god of agriculture is more extraordinary and can make this current world, which is as distorted as hell, a little more like the human world.
Even if Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva really saw such a scene, he would probably prefer to be an agricultural god rather than the so-called Ksitigarbha.
Daxia promoted good varieties throughout the world, and as a result, my temples spread all over the country.
The various images are not uniform, but I have a vague feeling about them.
That was a very joyful thing.
But where there is joy there is sadness, because time has come to the last year, and I can see the hourglass above my head, and the last bit of sand is about to leak out.
That light is coming!
In the past, when I faced that light, I either saw it accidentally because of my ignorance, or I was walking far away and not at the forefront. Now I have quietly gone to the imperial capital.
Temples in various places have helped me further improve my understanding of the Sutra of the Past Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, not because of faith, but because I really live up to the great vow made by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, that I will not become a Buddha until my vow is fulfilled.
I am really changing little by little. The overall environment in this hellish world is getting better.
I don’t know how much resentment was dissolved in this process. I had a vague sense of the statues erected in temples across the country, and I was able to dissolve those resentments, which made me extremely energetic, and the internal energy seemed endless.
My dear, there is more to this chapter. Please click on the next page to continue reading. It will be even more exciting later!
