Chapter 437 Fate

Xiaoqing dived silently to the bottom of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The many rare treasures he collected in the early years and the strange fields formed were still connected, and the waves surged silently.

A cloud of white mist rose into the sky, then turned black, and soon after, a light drizzle began to fall.

"Oh, this weather is so weird! It's suddenly a bit cold."

Several of Tiger Lord's men shuddered, but no one noticed that the strange smell mixed in the rain also penetrated into their bodies.

Xiaoqing silently appeared at the bow of Zhang Mingtu's boat. Her large golden eyes moved, and she tilted her head in confusion, sizing Zhang Mingtu up.

Amidst the gentle breeze and drizzle, it spoke in human language: "Why hide when you can just kill them directly? After absorbing the dragon energy, they will all fall into the water and die within two days, leaving no trace. It would be better for me to kill them all with my saliva arrows now."

"Kill them on the spot. Those fishermen will not survive."

"Aren't they all the same? What's the difference? There are so many people like this anyway."

Xiaoqing tilted her head in confusion. On the shore, the beaten fisherman was curled up in a small ball. His blood mixed with rainwater flowed slowly along the grass and into the river.

The man's face was swollen and his eyes were narrowed into a line due to excessive swelling.

The short and strong man to whom he had delivered the fish before came to his side at some point, helped him up, and covered him with a straw raincoat.

Several carps were already lying beside him, without making any sound. However, a few crucian carps, the size of palms, were very tenacious and were jumping wildly along with the rain, sliding towards the shore step by step. It seemed that they would be able to struggle to survive in the near future.

"Alas! I've already told you not to do this kind of thing. You've really lost your mind."

"It's different. I heard from the big caravan that Jiujiang is different. They will come out on top."

"Fuck you, just listen to what they say. Didn't you see the policeman greet Tiger Lord with a smile?"

"My uncle went on a business trip with the fleet. He said it was really different over there. He was about to move his family there and settle down in Jiujiang County and never leave."

"What's wrong with Jiujiang County being different? We should be like this and that here. If I were a magistrate, I would only tell stories about it. Where would I find it here? Do you expect it to be in Fuzhou? Do you expect it to be in Jiangzhou?"

The man helped him onto the boat, then lit a charcoal stove at the bow, picked up the dead fish, gutted them skillfully, and threw them into the pot to cook without any seasoning, simply sprinkling some salt on them.

"Look, aren't you helping me?"

"I don't fucking want to. If you weren't my cousin, I wouldn't care about you. You got so engrossed in listening to two stories. You deserve to be beaten.

"Does it hurt here? How about here? How about your hand? Fortunately, no bones are broken. It's mostly just superficial injuries. I'll be fine after resting for ten days to half a month."

"Boatman, can we hide from the rain?"

The sudden sound coming from outside the boat made both of them look surprised.

The short and strong man stretched his head out first and saw that it was a small boat with a simple shelter above his face. The young man's hair was wet by the rain and his clothes were almost wet.

He took a closer look, especially at the hands and face, and found that the young man had a fair complexion and slender hands without calluses. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.

"You scholars just love this kind of fun. What's so fun about boating on the river in the rain? Come on up!"

"Thank you!"

Zhang Mingtu thanked him and jumped over from the side boat in one step. His body swayed and he almost fell into the river. He was supported by the short and strong man.

Then the short and strong man turned around and took a rope from the boat to connect the small boat with the black-sailed boat, and then turned around and went into the shed to shelter from the rain.

"You really don't know the sufferings of the world!"

That's it, he even cursed when he went in.

Zhang Mingtu just smiled, but looked at the short and strong man who was busy running around. He fished out a rough porcelain bowl from somewhere, washed it simply in the river, filled it with a bowl of whitish fish soup, and handed it straight to Zhang Mingtu.

"Drink some soup to warm yourself up."

"Thank you very much."

"Oh, what are you thanking me for? It's just a worthless fish soup, something that even rich people wouldn't even look at."

Zhang Mingtu did not respond, but took out a small porcelain bottle from his arms and handed it to the short and strong man.

"What?"

"Some medicine for bruises and injuries."

The short and strong man was stunned for a moment, but did not refuse. He snatched it away and said, "You are quite interesting, scholar!"

Amid the sound of the dripping rain, the short and strong cousin was lying in the boat, groaning from time to time. It was because his hands and feet were a little rough, which hurt his wounds.

"Stop howling, stop howling! You're so brave to give me fish in front of Lord Tiger! I'm lucky I didn't beat you to death. I wanted to throw you into the river."

After saying this, the short and strong man paused again and glanced at Zhang Mingtu carefully.

Seeing that Zhang Mingtu was just blowing the fish soup softly, he felt relieved.

He served his cousin a bowl of fish soup, added a piece of meat from under the fish face and a large piece of meat from the belly, and then put half of the stewed fish head that was already a little rotten into his cousin's bowl.

Only then did he serve himself a bowl of fish soup, moved a folding stool from the corner, and slurped the fish soup.

"Phew, so comfortable!"

Zhang Mingtu also followed his example, took a sip, and exclaimed in admiration.
