"For eight hundred years, no one has succeeded in cultivation. Which generation of officials in the imperial court would choose the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra? Isn't this training us for disciples?"
The monks tacitly agreed not to mention the word "imperial court" because it was a humiliating thing for Buddhism to be forced to hand over the sacred scriptures.
It's never a glorious thing.
"Now is not the time to explore the cause. Send all the disciples down the mountain. The Buddha will definitely find it!"
The abbot gave an order and the dispute ended.
All the disciples received the order and headed south.
