Chapter 75 See you tomorrow, Mrs. Rong.
Her evening gown slipped down, revealing her graceful curves. Rong Chengzhou's eyes deepened, and he restrained his expression. Taking advantage of Jiang Mingxue's relaxation, he carried her to the bathtub, took off her high heels and evening gown, and carefully washed her.
After washing and drying her body, I carried her to the bed, sat on the side of the bed to dry her hair, and then walked to the other side of the bed.
His gaze fell upon the large, plush bear on the bed, but this time he didn't feel the same aversion as before. He simply calmly lifted the stinky bear by the head and placed it on the floor.
For over a month since she left home, it's been Chou Xiong keeping Jiang Mingxue company.
That's something, I suppose.
The next day, Rong Chengzhou got up early to go for a run, and while he was at it, he took the letter on the coffee table outside, tore it up, and threw it into the public trash can.
He will never write such letters home again.
--
The wedding invitations they wrote last time didn't match the dates. Jiang Mingxue said she could just manually change them, but Rong Chengzhou disagreed. He insisted on rewriting all the remaining invitations that hadn't been sent out yet, saying he didn't want others to receive the wrong invitations.
Jiang Mingxue couldn't persuade him, so she could only let him go.
With four days to go before the wedding, Rong Chengzhou stayed up all night writing the wedding invitations and had his butler deliver them to the guests the next day.
The wedding invitations from the groom's side were mainly sent to Rong's relatives and Rong Chengzhou's close comrades-in-arms. The housekeeper delivered them to the designated receiving point at the Beicheng Air Force Flight Base. Xing Kaiyu and his team had already returned to their permanent residence and went to the mailroom to retrieve the invitations written by Rong Chengzhou, then distributed them to their comrades-in-arms according to the names on the invitations.
Although Saturday is a public day off, weddings are still public social events and must be reported to superiors.
Xing Kaiyu's superior was the political commissar, who led more than a dozen of his comrades who had received invitations directly into the political commissar's office.
The commander was sitting opposite the political commissar, chatting with him about the recent discipline of the troops, when he turned around and saw a large group of people pouring in, filling the room completely.
He nearly dropped his teacup and turned to ask, "What are you trying to do?"
Xing Kaiyu took the lead in saluting: "Greetings, Commander! Greetings, Political Commissar!"
Then, beaming with joy, he held up the gold-embossed invitation in his hand: "We're all here to ask the political commissar for leave!"
Upon hearing this, the political commissar waved his hand without even asking, "No need to invite me. I will be attending the day after tomorrow. Remember to call me when you go tomorrow night, and I'll go with you."
The commander stared blankly, completely bewildered, and asked, "Participate in what? Are there any activities the day after tomorrow?"
The political commissar looked at him strangely: "Xiao Rong's wedding, didn't you know?"
Xing Kaiyu: "Yeah, didn't Brother Rong invite you?"
Commander: "..."
His expression changed slightly, then he laughed and said seriously, "How could I not have been invited? I received the invitation yesterday. I've been too busy lately, and I just suddenly forgot about it."
Xing Kaiyu laughed heartily: "I knew it was impossible. Even the head of the cooking squad received one. You are Brother Rong's most respected superior, how could you not receive one?"
The commander chuckled dryly several times, then picked up his teacup and took a large gulp.
It was freshly brewed hot tea, but it tasted ice cold.
After leaving the political commissar's room and returning to his own office, he felt extremely depressed.
Just as I was looking for the deputy commander to relieve my boredom, I bumped into him before I even left the house and immediately noticed the bright red invitation in his hand.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, "You received it too?!"
The deputy commander nodded matter-of-factly: "Yes, many people in our unit have received them."
Seeing that his hands were empty, she asked curiously, "Don't you have anything?"
That shouldn't be the case. He and Rong Chengzhou have a good relationship, and the commander usually spoils him so much, how could he not have one?
The commander raised an eyebrow: "How could I not have?"
Staring intently at the deputy commander's invitation, he forced a smile and squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth:
"I thought I was the only one who received it."
The deputy commander understood: "I knew it."
--
Rong Chengzhou took another day to go back to Haining to pick up Instructor Lu and Lao Lin and settle them in. Jiang Mingxue didn't need to interfere at all. Even on Friday, Jiang Mingxue was still working at the clinic.
Because I was going back to the Jiang family's house tonight, I packed my daily necessities into a small bag before leaving home in the morning.
The two families did not avoid the custom of bringing good luck to the wedding. The day before the wedding, Rong Chengzhou drove Jiang Mingxue to work. After she got out of the car, she went into the lounge to change clothes with her small bag. Xu Yan saw her and asked in shock, "Sister Ming, you are getting married tomorrow. Don't you need to stay home to prepare for the wedding today?"
Jiang Mingxue put her bag in the locker and asked, puzzled, "What do I need to prepare?"
"There's so much to prepare!" Xu Yan, though she'd never been in a relationship, had helped out at her cousin's wedding. She counted on her fingers, "Like confirming the venue, rehearsing the ceremony, decorating the bridal chamber, checking the clothes and shoes for the wedding, going over the guest list, getting a nice manicure, and so much more. Both families are too busy to keep up!"
Jiang Mingxue took off her cardigan and changed into her medical gown, smiling slightly: "Chengzhou has prepared all of these for me."
Madam Rong had been overseeing the venue for a week, and the bridal chamber in Songyunting was decorated yesterday. The wedding dress and formal wear had been delivered to the Jiang family, along with the makeup artist, officiant, master of ceremonies, and so on. With Rong Chengzhou there, she only needed to wait for her wedding in peace.
Xu Yan clicked her tongue in envy and said, "Getting married in your spare time is so awesome. Your brother-in-law is truly a top-notch man."
Jiang Mingxue couldn't help but smile: "You'll encounter that too."
She sat in her clinic all day in peace, and no one bothered her because of the wedding.
At six o'clock in the evening, Rong Chengzhou came to pick her up and took her back to the Jiang family home to stay for the night.
As Jiang Mingxue entered the Jiang family's gate, she was greeted by a courtyard full of red lanterns, balloons, and curtains. Even the koi in the pond were tied with red ropes.
The servants were still climbing human-shaped ladders to hang banners and the character "囍" (double happiness) on the roof.
"No, no, it's crooked here, move it a little to the right... Oh, Miss is back." The butler was directing the servants, and greeted her upon hearing this, "Dinner is ready, please come in and eat."
Jiang Mingxue nodded: "Okay, thank you all for your hard work."
"It's not hard work at all!" The servants all laughed joyfully. "It's been a long time since our house has been this lively."
Walking through the corridor into the living room, the whole family was setting up the room, and even Jiang Huaijing and Shi Yunshu were pulled in to do the hard work.
Upon seeing her arrive, they temporarily stopped what they were doing and the family went to the restaurant for a meal.
After dinner, she went to her room to take a shower. Her room was for the wedding procession and was the first to be decorated, with a bright red four-piece bedding set, and the room was full of pairs of double happiness characters, red silk, and origami cranes.
When I came out of the shower, the living room was still bustling with activity; they weren't finished yet.
"Could you please stop sticking things up like that?" Shi Yunshu stood in front of the TV, frowning as she looked at the large "囍" (double happiness) character that Jiang Huaijing had stuck on the router.
“Where did you put this up randomly? This is called ‘Full Signal, Full Love.’” Jiang Huaijing turned his head and raised an eyebrow. “Put one up at our house too.”
Shi Yunshu was speechless, feeling utterly naive: "...Don't talk to me."
"No, I just want to talk to you."
"I won't listen, I won't listen, you're just a turtle chanting scriptures."
"If I'm a turtle, then you're a mung bean."
"......"
On the other side, Grandpa Jiang on the sofa was panting heavily for a long time but couldn't blow up a single balloon. He wiped his sweat and said, "Hey, is this balloon leaking air? I can't blow it up."
Jiang's father hurriedly went over to take it: "Dad, this isn't blown up, it needs to be pumped up!"
Grandpa Jiang was so angry he was puffing out his beard and glaring: "Then why did you give it to me?!"
It almost made him faint at his age.
Su Yun put down the butterfly decorations in her hand and handed over a woven frame and some folded packaging boxes with a smile: "Dad, can you help me wrap the wedding candies?"
Grandpa Jiang: "This job is more like it."
Jiang Mingxue put on her bright red new pajamas, dried her hair, and walked into the living room: "Mom and Dad, Grandpa, let me help you with this."
Su Yun came over and grabbed her arm: "The bride doesn't need to do these things, we can handle it, you don't need to worry about it."
"You need to get up early tomorrow to do your makeup, so your task today is to go to bed early. We'll take care of these things."
Shi Yunshu: "Yes, sister, getting married is tiring. You should rest early today."
"Yes, Mingxue, go to bed early. When you have time, you can take a look at the wedding manual that Chengzhou ordered and memorize the process," Grandpa Jiang said while folding wedding candy boxes.
"Alright then." Jiang Mingxue had no choice but to turn around and go upstairs to her room.
After Jiang Huaijing finished putting up the double happiness symbol on the router, he put up the one on the TV wall: "Tsk, I never thought that I, a president of a trillion-dollar company, would be doing such hard labor."
Su Yun scolded him: "When you got married, your sister helped you a lot."
Shi Yunshu: "That's right, Mom, you should scold him a few more times."
Jiang Huaijing: "I was just saying it offhand... Hey, who took my ladder?"
"Little green bean, you just wait!"
"......"
Behind her, there was a noisy commotion and constant laughter. Jiang Mingxue stood at the corner of the stairs and looked into the living room, her heart filled with warmth.
Everyone is diligently preparing for her wedding.
Back in my room, I took a picture of the big red "囍" (double happiness) character on the wallpaper, then lay in bed and shared the photo on my WeChat Moments with the caption:
【My family is celebrating a wedding.】
I received a like message just one second after posting it; it was Rong Chengzhou's profile picture.
Just as I was marveling at how fast his internet speed had become, his phone rang.
Jiang Mingxue answered the phone, pulled the covers over herself, and lay down.
A deep, magnetic voice came from the phone: "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
Jiang Mingxue: "Isn't it only nine o'clock?"
You need to get up at five o'clock tomorrow.
In order to prevent Jiang Mingxue from getting up too early, he had already adjusted the opening time as far back as possible. Makeup time is long, and five o'clock is already the latest time.
"It's okay, seven hours of sleep is enough." Jiang Mingxue buried her head in the blanket. "How about you? Are you very busy tonight?"
He will be hosting and arranging accommodations for many relatives and friends who are coming from other places tonight.
"It's alright, I'm not that busy," he said calmly.
Actually, I'm still checking the hotel premises and facilities, and I've gone through the procedures several times with the staff. I haven't even had dinner yet. I just wanted to call her from the rooftop because I was worried she might be nervous tonight.
"Thank you for your hard work, Colonel Rong." Jiang Mingxue received hundreds of likes and congratulatory comments on her WeChat Moments, replying while making a phone call.
Rong Chengzhou, as if he could see a thousand miles, lectured her: "Don't look at your phone under the covers, it's bad for your eyes."
"?" Jiang Mingxue was taken aback. "How did you know?"
"I can see your reply." The voice was muffled, clearly coming from under the covers.
Jiang Mingxue accused, "You're investigating me again."
There is no privacy at all.
Rong Chengzhou smiled but remained silent; she didn't need him to use any reconnaissance methods.
Jiang Mingxue replied to a few comments, then turned off her phone, turned on the speakerphone, placed the phone next to her pillow, and then grabbed one of her beloved pet plush toys and hugged it to her chest: "You'll be alone in your room tonight, let the stinky bear keep you company."
“I’m not interested in it.” The man’s voice deepened, becoming deep and magnetic. “I just want to hold you while we sleep.”
Jiang Mingxue blushed at his words, pulled the blanket up, and whispered, "Tomorrow I can let you hug me."
A man's soft chuckle, tinged with amusement, came from the phone: "Okay."
“I’m wearing the pajamas my mom bought me, my family is downstairs decorating my house, and I’m talking to you on the phone.”
Jiang Mingxue hugged the plush rabbit and chuckled to herself in the blanket: "How happy I am, Rong Chengzhou."
Even through the phone, I could feel her joyful mood.
Rong Chengzhou also raised the corners of his lips: "You'll be even happier."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Rong Chengzhou urged her, "Go to sleep early, I'll pick you up tomorrow."
"Okay, I'm going to sleep now," Jiang Mingxue said softly. "Goodnight, see you tomorrow."
A man's deliberately softened voice came through the microphone:
"See you tomorrow, Mrs. Rong."
