65 Plot Discussion (Forum Style)

Analysis of the plot of "Fantasy Fairy Tale" episodes 1-6 (contains spoilers, please beware) Slowly updated...

Main thread: I read the plot synopsis of "Fantasy Fairytale" a while ago and found it very interesting, so I started a thread to discuss the plot development of the first six episodes. Everyone can chat together and add details to the thread.

From the very first episode, we learn that the heroine, Seo Rui-eun, is a corporate slave, toiling away at work until the early hours of the morning. Naturally, we perceive her as a tamed slave, a slave to the company. Like most people, she's dissatisfied with the company's arrangements, yet never resists. I believe this is a deliberate act by the screenwriter, misleading the audience into believing the heroine's inner character is the same as her actions. (Image: A black suit, black-framed glasses, and a back bent by the weight of work.)

After entering the elevator, Seo Rui-eun encounters a man, the male protagonist who will appear later. Note that the director only gives a close-up of the male protagonist's shoes. Their spotless appearance not only confirms that he is a man, but also reveals a part of his character. (Image)

Realizing it was a man, and in the early hours of the night, Xu Ruien backed away, leaning against the elevator. This is the vigilance that an adult woman should maintain. (Image)

She then went home and, without even taking off her shoes, collapsed onto the sofa. Her home was immaculately clean and tidy, suggesting she was exhausted, too exhausted to do anything (picture). But sleeping on a sofa is incredibly uncomfortable, as anyone who's ever slept there knows. Sure enough, around three o'clock, she woke up, groggily removing her makeup and washing up. (Aside: Korean idols pay a lot of attention to detail; Chinese entertainment needs to learn more.)

Thus entered the dream.

This dream is a little different from reality. I don't know if you've noticed, but the image is a little too beautiful, so beautiful it's a little blurry. Look at the greenery outside the car window; it's so green it almost looks blue. (Image)

This dream is clearly from the perspective of the heroine. We see a luxurious villa, a row of luxury cars in the garage, and another protagonist, Sun Xuanli, who looks exactly like the heroine. Judging from her attire, she should be a completely different person from Xu Ruien. (Picture comparison)

ps: I want to praise the makeup in Korean dramas. Seo Ruien's look is very close to life and although it looks good, it is completely different from the ostentatious Sun Hyunri.

Here, a small incident illustrates the character of Sun Xuanli, a wealthy young lady: when her maid stole something, Sun Xuanli ignored her excuses and told her to get out immediately. However, after she left, she sent a driver to take her home. As we can see in the foreground, the villa complex where the Sun family lived was very large, and it would take a long time to walk there alone. (Picture)

From this small incident, we can see that Sun Hyun-ri is a proud and self-centered person, but at the same time, she is not a bad person. Therefore, the inner story of the maid's private discussion about Sun Hyun-ri asking someone to kneel down and apologize is open to question. (Picture)

Soon, the highlight of the first episode came, the garden seduction scene! I believe that most of the BBs who entered the pit were attracted by this scene.

The image has clearly been manipulated; the garden is incredibly beautiful. Sun Hyun-ri, in her silk pajamas, looks even more stunning, like a gorgeous rose. I'm drooling right here. Such a beautiful, wealthy young lady is not only popular with others, but I'm also attracted to her! (Picture)

In the meticulously decorated small garden, beside a stone seat, a man in a white T-shirt slowly turns around... (GIF.)

Seeing this, I suspect the director is not straight, otherwise how could he make a man look so pure! Yes, pure! Xuanhe, a 25-year-old man, just let him wear a white T-shirt, what ulterior motives!

I’ve seen a lot of controversy online about what Xuanhe should wear. Some say he should wear a shirt, some say he should wear a suit, and some say he should wear nothing at all (laughs)... But actually, I think a white T-shirt is really the best choice. Don’t you see that under the sunlight, the white T-shirt is a little transparent!

Haha, just kidding. The director probably wanted to show the purity of Xuanhe's appearance. It would be unsightly if it was too straightforward.

I've also seen the actor's appearance outside the show, and he's a clean-cut, handsome young man, but he's still a bit of a handsome guy. So I understand why the director chose this method to handle the hero's first appearance.

Xuanhe's temperament is very pure, but how should I put it? You feel that his smile is seductive. I believe that the audience screaming in the barrage should feel the same as me.

How would you react when a handsome, pure, and lustful guy looks at you lovingly?

Our Miss Sun Xuanli Sun Er gave the standard answer.

She was not blinded by the beauty, she immediately recognized the man's identity: her sister's ex-fiancé, her ex-brother-in-law.

At this point, I finally understand why this drama became such a hit. The lead actors and actresses are excellent, the plot is thrilling, and the visuals are beautiful. Even if this is a dream, I still think it's incredibly entertaining.

I have to praise the acting of the male and female leads. The dream sequence was a bit exaggerated, but they managed to convince me with their acting. Especially the male lead's highlight scene in the garden. His performance made me think this man is so damn sweet. For a moment, I felt empathy with Sun Hyun-ri. I just watched you perform. How did you do it? I won't judge, but I was definitely moved by your performance.

Sun Xuanli's inner monologue expressed what was in my heart.

[A man is most attractive when he tries every possible way to please you.]

[As a woman in a superior position, you only need to watch him perform in front of you.]

But what's even more interesting is that you saw through his intentions at first glance. Yet you didn't expose him, simply enjoying his gentleness and kindness.

[Neither accepting nor rejecting is enough to deal with most of the adversaries.]

I can only say that I am very satisfied with Sun Xuanli's attitude. This dream is a dream within a dream.

The lines are also amazing, "Can I call you brother-in-law?" "Call me my name: Xuanhe."

Maybe this dream was too beautiful, and when it ended I felt as regretful as Xu Ruien.

At the end of the first episode, the male protagonist Zheng Xingwen officially appeared. The glance he gave Xu Ruien seemed to have ulterior motives.

The second episode begins in the tea room, where a group of gossipy women begin to discuss the new manager, Zheng. Although Xu Ruien is not far away from them, she is obviously not part of this small circle.

As soon as the fake smile appeared, I knew that Xu Ruien's personality was not as shown at the beginning of the first episode. The crickets behind the female colleague led to another character: the manager.

If we go back to the end of the first episode, we can vaguely see a young man. So is this man the second male lead? It's certain that the manager and the female lead have a past relationship.

Xu Ruien is quietly observing the new supervisor Zheng Xingwen, and some perspectives let us know that Zheng Xingwen is also observing Xu Ruien in an unknown corner. (Picture) (Picture)

The first contact between the male and female protagonists was outside the toilet. They bumped into each other, but Zheng Xingwen seemed not to hear Xu Ruien's apology, which was somewhat different from the politeness he showed in front of his colleagues.

At this point, we, like the heroine, are curious about this suddenly appearing supervisor. What kind of person is he? Why does he show such extraordinary concern for the heroine?

The answer was soon revealed.

Switching back to the protagonist's perspective, Zheng Xingwen is a wealthy second-generation kid who wakes up every day in a 500-square-meter bed. He excels academically and comes from a wealthy family. His seemingly perfect life seems to have no regrets.

But two years ago he began to be troubled by a dream, an inexplicable dream.

From the male protagonist's perspective, we also learned about Xuanhe's personal situation.

Xuanhe comes from a poor family with a sick mother. He approaches Sun Zhiya, the eldest daughter of the Sun family, for wealth and glory.

P.S. This character is quite interesting. I don't like watching perfect protagonists, and I don't like TV dramas that deliberately glamourize the protagonists. Love of money can't be the exclusive domain of women in TV dramas.

In short, Xuanhe broke off his engagement with Miss Sun for unknown reasons, and he set his sights on Miss Sun Er.

P.S.: Idol dramas are still conservative. In real life, a man like Sun He could maintain relationships with both Son Ji Ah and Son Hyun Ri. But it could also be that Sun He's character is like that, vain but with a basic moral bottom line. To some extent, he and Son Hyun Ri have similarities.

From Xuanhe's perspective, we get more information about Sun Xuanli. Sun Xuanli is arrogant and domineering, forcing people to drop out of school or kneel down to apologize. And judging by her attitude towards Xuanhe, her moral bottom line seems to be not very high.

Soon, Xu Ruien had her second dream. In the dream, she and Xuanhe were visiting a luxury store together. What details were there in this dream? I'll add more after I take a break...

1L: Respect the OP. I admire you so much even before reading the main post.

2L: I like this kind of meaningful plot analysis. "Fantasy Fairy Tale" is worth it!

3L: For the original poster dd, I was so busy watching the drama that I didn’t pay attention to the details at all. Please post more posts with details like this!

4L: I've watched the first four episodes, and I think the most interesting of the four main characters is the couple in the dream. It's rare to see a story with a female A and a male O, and it's quite engaging.

5L: Reply to 4L: The person above should go watch episodes 5-6, after watching them you will understand the charm of Zheng Xingwen, he is really handsome!

6L: There is so much to say about the latest 5~6 episodes. I’d like to hear your analysis.

7L: I feel like there are so many things a hit drama needs to meet. The male and female leads need to have good acting skills, and they need to have a good chemistry. The plot needs to be novel to attract the audience, but audiences have had so many good ones that they simply don't care for the average ones. This really tests the director and screenwriter's skills. Of course, most importantly, good luck is required. Only with the right time, place, and people can a hit drama be created.

8L: It’s still comfortable to watch new faces. This is the first drama starring the female lead and the second drama starring the male lead. The director is also a newcomer, which is great.

9L: The acting is a real plus! Who would have thought the male lead is only 19, yet he plays two characters! The scheming Xuanhe and the suave Zheng Xingwen. He plays both roles incredibly well! Actor Song Qixian is also an idol, which is incredible!

10L: I think the actress who played the female lead performed better. It is not easy to show the similarities and differences between Xu Ruien and Sun Xuanli. I was so impressed when she called the police in the fifth episode. I felt that she could solve all the problems without the male lead taking any action.

11L: The male and female protagonists complement each other, both acted well, stop arguing, stop arguing and focus on the plot~

12L: Haha, I knew it would be off to the side of the building, and it turned out to be the last one pulled in advance.
