The call finally went through, but it wasn't to Dad; it was to Mom.
Yan's mother's voice came from the other end, sounding somewhat tired, "Hello, Xici."
"Mom, how is Dad?"
“Your dad didn’t say anything, he just locked himself up.”
She had been sitting on the sofa outside for over an hour.
"Is he alright?" Yan Xici asked, somewhat worried.
“You should be fine. Your dad is probably just confused right now. He just says he wants to be alone, and there’s nothing I can do about it.”
At this point, Yan's mother sighed, "What else can we do? It's already like this. We can only let your father think about it carefully. After all, even if he accepts it, he needs a process."
What Mrs. Yan said was actually correct.
Yan's father simply finds this unacceptable. There's no other way to get someone to accept something they couldn't accept before than to give them time.
He will have a fierce internal struggle, and as for when the struggle will end, what others say is not up to him.
"Well, I'll call my dad then."
Yan Xici was still somewhat worried.
Yan's mother thought for a moment.
"How about this, I think you should come back tomorrow. It's hard to explain your situation over the phone, so it's better to talk about it in person."
This is no small matter; it's definitely not as good as talking about it face-to-face over the phone.
Upon hearing this, Yan Xici subconsciously glanced at Xiao Ran.
"Okay, then I'll discuss it with Brother Xiao Ran."
Xiao Ran sat beside him. He had heard everything the two of them were saying.
Hearing that he wanted to discuss it with him, Xiao Ran quickly said, "I'm ready anytime. How about this, we'll set off first thing tomorrow morning after breakfast."
As for the Yan family's routes, I can confidently say that I know them better than her two daughters, and I've been to them more than anyone else.
However, unlike previous visits to elderly people, this time was a little different.
To be honest, I'm still a little nervous about it.
Upon hearing this, Yan Xici said to the person on the other end of the phone, "Then we'll set off after breakfast, and we probably won't arrive until almost noon."
After saying that, she thought for a moment and said, "You should try to persuade Dad more, at least to stabilize his emotions."
"Alright, I know. It's getting late. Go to sleep."
"Okay, you should get some rest too."
The mother and daughter hung up the phone after they finished speaking.
After hanging up the phone, Yan's mother still looked towards Yan's father's room with unease.
It's been over an hour already. Should I go in and have a chat with him for a bit?
Thinking it over, she put her phone on the coffee table, then slowly got up and walked into Mr. Yan's room.
Dad is holding his phone right now, leaning against the headboard without moving.
Although his face was still pale, it was less frightening than before.
I saw Yan's mother standing at the door.
He quickly turned the phone face down, saying, "Didn't I tell you to give me some peace and quiet?"
The phone screen showed a family photo of the four of them, taken when the two sisters were little, before his leg was injured.
Life at home is fairly happy.
