Seeing that his mother had arrived, Xiao Ran put his phone back in his pocket.
Looking at the cheerful people in the room, he had the illusion that he wasn't in a hospital ward, but at a party.
"Mom, why did you come up here too?"
Upon seeing Qiu Yuru, Yan Xici instinctively stood up and hurriedly offered her chair to her mother-in-law. After all, they were her elders, and the thought of her sitting while her elders stood made her feel uneasy and guilty.
Qiu Yuru quickly pressed Yan Xici back onto the stool. "Alright, alright, you're now our family's protected candidate for the high school entrance exam. Don't get up. If you can sit, don't stand; if you can lie down, don't sit. Got it?"
Looking at her serious expression, Yan Xici was both amused and exasperated.
“Yes, yes, your mother-in-law is right. If you can sit, you should never stand!” Yan’s mother hurriedly added. Although she didn’t know why, that’s what the older generation always said. When she was pregnant, her mother had told her the same thing, and now she was passing that same message on to Yan Xici.
I hope she can be like that too.
"Okay, okay."
Although Yan Xici's tone was a little impatient, the smile on her face showed that she was actually very happy.
"Oh, right, there's something I need to tell you guys." Qiu Yuru said, then looked at Xiao Ran. "Xiao Ran, come here too!"
This sudden serious expression left the group of people, who had just been smiling, completely bewildered. What was going on all of a sudden?
“Look, I think you should move to a bigger house. After the wedding, I’m thinking of having your parents move in with you so it will be easier for you to take care of the elderly.”
Qiu Yuru was not the type of person who liked to cling to the child, and she always hoped that her in-laws wouldn't, so that the children could have their own free space.
After all, there are some things that are really inconvenient to do in front of this old man.
But given her father's current condition, she really couldn't rest easy. Today, he was with Xiao Shengrong, but if her mother were alone, how could she face it? How painful would it be for her?
Both of them have spouses, and she really felt sorry for Yan's mother.
They really didn't want such a thing to happen again, so they thought about having Xiao Ran live with Yan's parents. Yan Xici would definitely not have any problems, after all, they are her own parents.
So she mainly talked to Xiao Ran about this.
Actually, I don't have any objections to living with Yan's parents. As long as they agree, I'm fine with anything. Anyway, I'm an old son-in-law, so it doesn't matter.
When Qiu Yuru said this, Yan's father was clearly taken aback. To be honest, he was a little touched. Other people's in-laws would prefer their son and daughter-in-law to live with them, but when Xiao Ran and Yan Li got married, she never said anything like that.
Now, Xiao Ran is even living with her, accompanying her and taking care of her. Having such in-laws is truly something our whole family admires.
However, despite being touched, he knew that once his daughter got married, she would have her own home. He would deal with it if things really got out of hand. Right now, he felt there was no need to bring it up again. His two children had just gotten married and needed to have their own lives. The living habits of the elderly and young people were different, and if they moved in, neither of them would be comfortable.
He quickly said, "No need, no need, I can still manage, please don't, we're fine as we are now."
Mother Yan also repeatedly refused: "That's right, besides, we still have Yan Li. She just went out to play, it's not like she's never coming back. Don't worry, we two old folks will be fine!"
Actually, Yan's mother thought the same way as Yan's father; she didn't want to be a burden to them either.
Although Lao Yan's health is not good, she has no one to take care of her. If she really has to rely on someone and can't manage on her own, she can hire a caregiver. There are always more solutions than problems.
Xiao Ran has been so busy these past few days that, to be honest, he hasn't had a moment to think about their wedding, let alone where they'll live in the future.
However, after my mother said that, I also felt that I should live with Yan Xici's parents.
As people get older, they always need someone to take care of them.
He thought for a moment and said, "How about this, after we get married, you can come and live with us if you want, and we won't force you if you don't want to. What do you two think?"
"Yeah, I don't think Xiao Ran's idea is right. How about we do it the way Xiao Ran suggested?"
Xiao Shengrong also chimed in, "In that case, you can stay with Yan Li for a while, and then come back and stay with the two of them for a while. After all, we're all getting old, and sometimes, it's the woman who can't deny that we're getting old."
He genuinely hoped that Yan's parents could have a better life. Although Xiao Ran was his own son, he had married two daughters from other families, which could be considered a deep connection.
Taking care of the elderly is his duty!
The group of people chatting away made the two elderly people on the nearby hospital bed extremely envious.
Especially the person in the next bed, who said that he only gets to see his daughter-in-law and son when he's sick, because they're always so busy that they don't even show up.
They finally had a couple of days off, and their in-laws were calling them over again.
Look at your own in-laws, and then look at this other in-laws—the difference is just too great.
The old lady finally couldn't help but smile at Yan's parents and said, "Oh my, you two are really lucky to have met such wonderful in-laws. Seeing how good your two families are, we are all envious."
