"That was the factory director's car just now, right?" Li Meiling asked tentatively.
Han Li pretended to be surprised, "Really? He was driving too fast just now and got me covered in dirt. I was thinking of chasing him and asking him to pay for it!"
Li Meiling wondered if the two knew each other. She'd often observed Zhou Zhichuan and noticed Han Li had been getting close to him recently. One day, after work, she spotted the factory director parked his car on the side of the road. A woman resembling Han Li's back quickly opened the door and got in.
Li Meiling glanced at her and said, "The factory director may be busy with something. He's very tight on time. Please understand."
Han Li pulled the corner of her mouth, "Ha!"
Accounting work is rather boring, so Han Li sat there for the whole morning. At 11:30 am, Sister Juan from the same office asked her to go to the cafeteria for lunch together. Han Li stood up, stretched, took her lunch box and went to the cafeteria together.
After queuing up for food, the two found an empty seat and sat down just as they were about to eat when a young man in his twenties came over and sat down.
"Han Li! Is your name Han Li? I met you when I was a kid, and we even played house together."
Han Li found him familiar, but couldn't remember who he was. "You are..."
The young man slammed the table and said, "I'm Goudan, my full name is Liu Yichui, and I'm a neighbor of your grandmother's. When you were a kid, you went to your grandmother's house and played at my house. Remember?"
Han Li had some impression, "Ah! It's you! You work here too."
Liu Yichui smiled innocently.
"Right! I wasn't cut out for studying. When I was seventeen, my dad asked someone to find a connection and I got a job here. I didn't expect you to work here too. How come I haven't seen you before?"
Han Li smiled and said, "I just started working here not long ago."
"Oh!" Liu Yichui chuckled, "I've worked here for many years. Now I'm a small team leader, so I'm pretty familiar with the place. If you have any questions, you can ask me."
"Okay!" Han Li answered readily.
The two of them were eating and chatting. Zhou Zhichuan brought his partner to the cafeteria to eat. When he saw the two people chatting happily, he sneered and said, "It's cautious enough to keep a distance from him, why don't you keep a distance from others?"
Han Li looked up and saw Zhou Zhichuan staring at her with a half-smile. Feeling guilty, she distanced herself from Liu Yichui and lowered her head to eat her meal.
In the evening, after get off work, Han Li walked out with her bag and saw Zhou Zhichuan waiting for her in the car not far away. Han Li looked around, ran over quickly, opened the door and got in.
"Hurry up, hurry up!"
Zhou Zhichuan started the car slowly. Han Li fastened her seat belt and turned to look at him.
"Zhou Zhichuan, go to the vegetable market. I'm going to buy tomatoes."
"Okay." Zhou Zhichuan drove her to the vegetable market. Han Li really only wanted to buy tomatoes. Zhou Zhichuan picked a few vegetables and packed them up. When they got home, Han Li was very excited to make scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
Zhou Zhichuan took out some potatoes and shredded them. "Let's stir-fry some shredded potatoes."
"I don't know how!" Han Li put the tomatoes in hot water.
"I fried it." Zhou Zhichuan glanced at her nonchalantly, "Who was that man who spoke to you in the cafeteria today?"
The oil in the pan was hot, and Han Li put the eggs in the pan and stir-fried them.
"He! He's the kid from my grandmother's neighborhood. I used to play house with him when I was little. I haven't seen him in years. He's grown up so much."
Zhou Zhichuan chuckled, "He seems to be about your age, and the tone of your voice makes it seem like he's still a child."
Han Li replied while cooking, "Because of the impression I had when I was a child, I always treat him as a child."
After cooking the dishes, Han Li put scrambled eggs with tomatoes on the dining table, Zhou Zhichuan fried shredded potatoes, and steamed buns in the pot. The phone rang in the living room, and Han Li went to answer it.
"Hello."
The kind voice of Mr. Zhou came.
"Lili, will you and Zhichuan come over for dinner tomorrow? I'll ask the nanny to go buy groceries."
"Okay, Grandpa, I'll go over for dinner." The old man was so enthusiastic that Han Li couldn't refuse.
"So what do you like to eat? I'll ask the nanny to buy it."
Han Li thought for a moment and said, "Sweet and sour pork ribs, rice, and egg soup."
The old man said with a smile.
"Okay! Be sure to come over tomorrow and I'll have the nanny do it for you."
"Thank you, Grandpa."
Han Li hung up the phone. Zhou Zhichuan had already brought the food to the table: egg noodles, egg soup, four steamed buns, stir-fried potatoes, and scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Zhou Zhichuan asked her.
"It's Grandpa."
"Yes." Han Li took the steamed bun and took a bite. "Grandpa asked us to come over for dinner tomorrow night. Are you free? I promised Grandpa that if you're not free, I'll go by myself."
"Yes, let's go together."
