Chapter 46 Being Harassed

After buying stationery, Gu Zhinian looked around for children's clothes. There were not many good-looking styles. After picking and choosing, he chose a loose sportswear.

I also bought two pairs of comfortable cloth shoes from the shoe cabinet. Little Tangyuan often wore the shoes and deliberately rubbed them against the ground while walking. The shoes would break after just a few months of wear.

After shopping, Gu Zhinian went to the vegetable market to buy vegetables. He saw an old lady selling homemade pickled vegetables on the roadside. Gu Zhinian walked over, squatted down and asked the price.

"Mother-in-law, how much is the pickled cabbage?"

"One cent per pound."

The old lady had a smile on her kind face. She was wearing a green jacket and black pants, and her gray hair was neatly combed back. As someone who loves cleanliness so much, the food she cooks should also be very clean.

Gu Zhinian likes to eat sauerkraut, so she asked her mother-in-law to pack her five pounds of sauerkraut. After paying the money, Gu Zhinian walked forward carrying the sauerkraut.

He was thinking about what delicious food to make with sauerkraut. Coincidentally, there was a fishmonger on the roadside. Gu Zhinian walked up, picked a fat black fish from the pond, and took it home to make sauerkraut fish.

"Master, please catch me a big fish." There are five people in the family, and if there is less, it will not be enough to eat.

"Okay!" The fishmonger picked up the net bag and skillfully scooped up a fat and big fish. The fish was jumping around in the net bag.

"Comrade, what do you think of this fish?"

"Yes, Master, could you fillet the fish for me, please?"

"What? Slice?" The fishmonger thought he'd misheard. "Should I cook it for you?"

Gu Zhinian smiled awkwardly and said, "No need, I'll cut it myself when I get home."

This was the first time the fishmonger heard a customer say that he would slice the fish. In the past, he would just knock the fish unconscious with a stick and put them in a bag.

Gu Zhinian hurried away with the bag. She always felt that the fishmonger looked at her with eyes that she was looking for trouble.

After buying almost everything, Gu Zhinian walked back and rode his bicycle to where the bicycles were parked. There was a group of people making trouble in front of him, so Gu Zhinian walked away from them for fear of getting into trouble.

Li Guiying was selling tofu on the roadside when she was surrounded by a group of thugs who demanded protection money. Of course, Li Guiying was unwilling to pay. She only made a few dollars from selling tofu, so how could she let those who collected protection money take away all her money?

She, a woman, could not defeat a group of men. Just when she was getting anxious, she saw an acquaintance and shouted loudly.

"Gu Zhinian! Wait!"

Gu Zhinian heard the sound, stopped, turned around and saw that the sound came from the group of people making trouble.

Seeing a group of yellow-haired kids staring at her with ill intentions, Gu Zhinian frowned, took a few steps back, and turned to leave. Li Guiying shouted again,

"Xiao Gu, help me!"

Gu Zhinian bit her lip and struggled internally. How could a weak and unarmed woman like her help her? It would be better to let her leave quickly and go to the police station to call the police.

Gu Zhinian was about to turn around and leave when a yellow-haired man reached out to stop her. She was so frightened that her face stiffened and she stepped back step by step. The yellow-haired man held a stick and touched his chin with an evil smile.

"Your name is Gu Zhinian, it sounds nice, and you are beautiful too."

Gu Zhinian wanted to shout for help, but everyone around him avoided him for fear of causing trouble.

"What do you want to do?"

The yellow-haired man smiled, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. He reached out to lift the yellow hair on his head and whistled, thinking he looked very handsome.

"That tofu-selling woman is your friend?"

Gu Zhinian observed the surroundings while dealing with him.

"No, just a neighbor."

Huang Mao smiled nonchalantly, "It's okay, since you two know each other, how about this, you sleep with me for one night, and I won't charge her protection money?"

Gu Zhinian's eyes narrowed and his face darkened, "You dare!"

Huang Mao laughed heartily, "Why wouldn't I dare to do that?"

A passerby said, "Leave now! If you don't leave, I will call the police!"

Huang Mao raised the stick to his shoulder arrogantly, with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth.

"You old bastard! Are you looking for death?"

The yellow-haired man raised his stick and hit the old man. The old man gasped in pain. Passersby didn't dare to watch and left quickly.

Li Guiying was shocked. She thought that if she called someone she knew, these gangsters would be scared and leave. Unexpectedly, they would set their sights on Gu Zhinian.

If Captain Yun knew that she had put Gu Zhinian in danger, would he be so angry that he wanted to kill her?

Li Guiying took out all the money from her bag, ran over and handed the money to Huangmao.

"I'll give you all the money, okay?"

Huang Mao looked at the wrinkled few dollars in her hand with disdain and hit the ground with a stick.

"You're giving a damn few dollars to a beggar!"

"Ah!" Li Guiying's hand was hit by him and she clenched her arm in pain.

Gu Zhinian's heart was pounding with panic, and her mind was racing to think of a solution. As a woman, she could not beat these people at all, and if she asked passers-by for help, she would be implicated and injured.

Gu Zhinian noticed that there was a sugarcane seller nearby with a peeling knife beside him. If this yellow-haired guy really dared to touch her, the worst that could happen was a fight to the death.

She silently prayed that someone would call the police. Huang Mao's patience was exhausted, and he strode over. Gu Zhinian turned and ran to the sugarcane stall, pulled out a knife, pointed it at Huang Mao,

"Don't come over here. Even if I kill you, it would be self-defense and not against the law. You don't want to die because of this, do you?"

Huangmao jumped in shock, and the people around him screamed in fear. Someone was going to die! Someone ran to the phone booth to call the police.

Li Guiying was so scared that she was shaking all over. When no one was paying attention, she quickly ran to the phone booth to make a call. This matter had become a big deal and she had to notify Yun Muye. She didn't know if they had returned.

Li Guiying called the military gate. As soon as the phone rang, it was picked up by the young soldier guarding the gate.
