Chapter 93 Must Find Her

Han Li put away the drawings and sat on a stool to chat with Gu Zhinian.

"Zhi Nian, I have nothing to do right now. I want to do something to keep myself busy, but I don't know what to do."

Gu Zhinian suggested, "Go study accounting. It's a decent and clean job for girls in the future."

Han Li pointed at her nose in confusion, "Accountant? Can I do that?"

Gu Zhinian affirmed:

"Okay! You're so smart, you can do it! Trust me, I promise to count money every day until my hands cramp."

Han Li covered her mouth and giggled secretly. She not only liked beautiful clothes, but also money.

"Okay, I'll listen to you and study accounting."

Zhang Pingping searched for more than a month but couldn't find Gu Juan. She couldn't hold back her tears and called her cousin. When Aunt Gu heard that a girl had gone to the mainland, she was shocked.

"You are so bold, girl! You are in an unfamiliar place, aren't you afraid of running into a bad guy?"

"Cousin, please ask my aunt where Brother Juan lives. I can't find him."

"Okay! Stop running around. What if you run into some bad guys?"

Aunt Gu hung up the phone and went to look for Aunt Gu in her room.

"Sister-in-law, are you there?"

Mother Gu opened the door and let the person in.

"What's wrong?"

Second Aunt Gu looked worried. "My troublesome nephew went to the mainland to look for Gu Juan. He couldn't find him, so he called me to ask you where Gu Juan lives."

Mother Gu sat on the sofa and said, "I didn't ask. I'll call and ask later."

"Okay, thank you for troubling me, sister-in-law." Aunt Gu walked out of the house and asked the mother and son to make a phone call.

Mother Gu's eyes flickered slightly. After waiting for a long time, she called Gu Juan and said, "Son, Zhang Pingping has gone to the mainland to look for you."

Gu Juan frowned in disgust.

"Mom, you didn't tell her where I live?"

"No, just now, your second aunt came to ask me where you live."

Gu Juan said calmly:

"Mom, do you really want Zhang Pingping to be your daughter-in-law?"

Mother Gu thought of Zhang Pingping's petty behavior and said sternly:

"How is that possible! This woman can marry anyone she wants, but she absolutely cannot marry you. Regardless of her family background, character, talent, or appearance, she is not worthy of you!"

"Then you should contact her less in the future!" Gu Juan said in a deep voice.

Mother Gu nodded.

"She came to see her aunt. I only greeted her when I met her, and never said much. But I didn't expect that she wanted to marry you. You can't agree to it!"

"Won't!"

Mother Gu asked again, "Son, why haven't you come back yet? You said you had a private matter to attend to. Do you have someone you like?"

"Mom." Gu Juan called out in frustration, "I was here and thought I heard someone calling Zhinian's name, but when I went to look for her again, I found nothing."

Mother Gu was stunned. She held the phone blankly, tears streaming down her face. "You...you said...my...daughter...there is news about my daughter, Gu Juan! Where is she? I want to go find her, my Niannian..."

"Mom, don't get excited. I just heard a voice, but didn't see anyone. I'm still looking for them. When I find them, I'll tell you as soon as I find them. Don't get excited."

Mother Gu covered her chest in pain, stayed still for a while, and then burst into tears. Over the years, she had never forgotten her daughter. She treasured all the photos taken before she was three years old and would not allow anyone to touch them.

Gu Juan advised her, "Mom, I'm looking for her, every day. I promise you, I will bring her home. Please take care of yourself and don't be too sad."

Gu Juan has been going to that western restaurant every day recently and has never seen a girl named Gu Zhinian again. He has also asked people about her, but no one knows who Gu Zhinian is.

The huge sense of loss made him depressed. He was nine years old when his sister was born. Before she was three years old, he held her in his arms every day and spoiled her, not allowing anyone to touch her. His sister was the closest to him.

When she was three years old, her family held a birthday party for her. There were a lot of people attending the party that day. Her parents were busy with social engagements and couldn't spare time. She was also dragged away by a bunch of friends to play, and her sister was left to be looked after by three nannies. At the end of the party, her sister was lost. Her grandmother and mother were so anxious that they fainted on the ground.

Later, grandpa investigated everyone at the party and found out that on that day, a little boy who was related to the family came into the party holding a puppy. The children were all playing around the puppy. For some reason, the puppy suddenly went crazy and chased his sister. When it ran behind a potted plant, the boy disappeared, leaving only the puppy barking in fear.

The dog was later killed by my grandfather himself, and the family of the boy who brought the dog was repeatedly attacked by my grandfather. They withdrew from the circle of wealthy people and had no contact with the Gu family anymore.

But my sister seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth and could never be found again.

Gu Juan hung up the phone, picked up his suit jacket and left the hotel. He believed that his sister must be in this city, and he would find her even if he had to dig deep into the ground.

Second Aunt Gu knocked on the door and asked for the address of Mrs. Gu Juan. Mrs. Gu had red eyes and was lying on the bed sadly, holding a photo of a three-year-old girl in her arms. It was taken on her daughter's birthday. She was wearing a beautiful princess puffy skirt and a big pink bow on her head. Her little face was smiling happily, and behind her was a twelve-layer Disney princess cake.

"Sister-in-law, what's wrong with you?"

"It's okay. I miss my daughter." Mother Gu said, tears streaming down her face again. "If she were alive, she would have grown up by now. I wonder if she is doing well. It hurts so much when I think about her."

Second Aunt Gu opened her mouth, but didn't want to ask any more questions. She comforted her with a few words, left the room, and called Zhang Pingping back.

"Aunt, have you asked where Brother Juan lives?"

"Your aunt is in a bad mood and thinking about her daughter again. Don't ask her."

"What!" Zhang Pingping stamped her feet anxiously. "Her daughter has been missing for over ten years. What else is there to worry about?"

Second Aunt Gu's face darkened. "Pingping, how can you say that? She's my biological daughter, even though she's been missing for so many years. Do you have any conscience? If my aunt heard what you said, it would hurt her heart! Come back! Don't stay there!"

When the doll-like little girl was lost, Aunt Gu felt very sad. She was the only girl in the family and was so precious to them. Everyone in the family liked to hug her when they saw her. How could such a good child be lost?

Zhang Pingping stomped her feet unwillingly, and hung up the phone with a snap. "If you don't help me, I'll go find it myself!"

Zhang Pingping walked out of the phone booth with her bag. When she was walking back, a man on a motorcycle had already set his eyes on her bag. She was dressed so fashionably, so there must be money in the bag.

The man stepped on the accelerator and sped past her, snatching the bag from her hand. Zhang Pingping was frightened and screamed loudly, holding on to the bag tightly with both hands, refusing to let go. All her money was in it. Without the money, how could she stay here?

Zhang Pingping was dragged by the man and slid on the ground for a distance. Her legs were scratched and bleeding. He let go only when he had no strength left.
