Wooden Beauty

Wooden Beauty

Ah Zhong's house seems to remain in the same state as it was on the day of the incident, if you can ignore the moss on the eaves and the weeds that make it impossible to step outside.

"Wow, this door is smashed to pieces! There's black smoke and knife marks on the wall. Ah Zhong was so hated back then." Song Song kept looking around the house and raised his hand to push the door open.

"Wait!" Although the three tried to stop him at the same time, they were not as fast as Qi.

Feeling humiliated by being grabbed by the collar, Song Song coughed lightly and slipped out from under Qi's grasp, protesting, "I was just testing them! I didn't really intend to go in."

You Youju placed her hand on the wall, carefully sensing: "There is a barrier."

Huai Jing's eyes never left You Youju. Upon seeing this, he merely raised an eyebrow and said, "It seems we'll have to wait and see."

Song Song moved closer to Zhu Xun, asking suspiciously, "You also sensed the barrier?"

Zhu Xun nodded and asked in return, "Didn't you feel it?"

Song Song felt a little awkward: "You look like you're only at the Foundation Establishment stage at most, while Huai Jing is already at the Golden Core stage at such a young age."

Zhu Xun's gaze swept over Song Song's face twice before he leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I have just entered the Qi Refining stage."

Zhu Xun was not joking. He never felt that his cultivation had risen to a higher level. He only regarded himself as an ordinary person who knew chicken feather magic.

Song Song was dumbfounded and incredulous. He wanted to challenge Zhu Xun to a duel, but Zhu Xun remained seated and ignored him, which made Song Song so anxious that he jumped up and down.

"You...you've only just entered the Qi Refining stage?! I don't believe you! You must be bluffing! I don't believe it!"

After a short while, the incomplete door creaked open from the inside.

Although the group stood under the shade of the tree, their eyes never left the door, intently watching for the slightest movement.

A man dressed in a gorgeous red robe and wearing gold-embroidered shoes appeared.

The hem of the shirt reached just to the calves, and the trouser legs at the ankles were loose and tied with a rope knot;

The black embroidered shoes were also particularly eye-catching, with grass, trees, fruits and peaches embroidered on the shoe body. A pearl, different from the pearl on the shoe body, was white with purple, round and dignified.

The red sleeves are adorned with auspicious blue and white clouds at both ends, and the cloud-shaped shoulder with tassels resembles a bewitching, fiery red lotus in full bloom. The pendants jingle, and two wooden masks are attached to the shoulders, making a crisp sound as well.

The necklace is made of wolf fangs with fragments of spirit stones of varying sizes, exuding a wildness mixed with holiness;

He was clearly a man with striking and handsome features, yet his hair was adorned with elaborate flowers and jewels, and a silk flower and pearl chain hung from left to right on his forehead, giving him a delicate and refined look that was quite different from his flamboyant appearance and seemed out of place with his clothing.

The group held their breath almost instantly upon seeing this.

It wasn't his exquisite and luxurious embroidered robes or his graceful, swirling figure, but rather the slight furrowing of his willow-leaf brows, brimming with sorrow and longing; the amber hidden in his almond-shaped eyes, brimming with tears of spring; the cherry-like lips, exuding a hundred charms… A beauty's sorrowful expression, her eyes filled with tenderness and pity…

Good heavens, there will never be another portrait of such a beautiful woman.

Huai Jing spoke first: "I didn't mean to bother you..." But before he could finish his sentence, the silk thread in the beauty's hand wrapped around his body, and in an instant, his blue clothes were stained with blood!

With a flick of his wrist, the man's face instantly transformed into a mask with a blue face, fangs, and a long beard!

You Youju was the first to draw Huai Jing's sword and cut the silk thread, pushing Huai Jing toward Song Song. Qi immediately joined the fight.

Song Song was jolted back to her senses by the impact, clutching Huai Jing in bewilderment: "Oh dear! How did you get hurt too! We were careless this time!"

Zhu Xun retreated to Huai Jing's side, took out a pill from his treasure bag and gave it to Huai Jing, then summoned Yao Guang.

"My uncle asked me to give this to you. We must have been bewitched just now."

Song Song helped Huai Jing sit down, and Zhu Xun used his true qi to circulate the elixir through his meridians as quickly as possible.

Song Song asked worriedly, "Are you sure you can do it? Your cultivation level isn't as high as Huai Jing's yet. Why don't you wait for Brother Youju?"

Zhu Xun ignored Song Song, and Huai Jing nodded to Song Song: "I believe in Brother Zhu Xun."

Song Song remained silent and watched the battle from beside Yao Guang, who was poised to attack.

You Youju broke out in a cold sweat. No matter how deadly and aimed at vital points he was attacked, this person charged forward without flinching, as if he felt no pain at all. He had a blue face and fangs, and his eyes behind the mask were like eagle hooks, relentlessly seizing people.

Her moves were riddled with flaws, yet her attacks were like a frenzied dance, relentless and fierce, leaving herself no chance to breathe. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she was stunningly beautiful, like she was performing a tragic and utterly chaotic dance.

Youju and Qi exchanged a glance, then distanced themselves and changed their tactics.

He first severed the threads that were close to the other three, and then used his own special technique. The surrounding vines were summoned and wrapped around the man's ankles and climbed up his back to trap him. The wind blades seized the threads that were trying to cut the vines, and with Qi's help, he bound the man.

You Youju flew up to the man and said in a stiff tone, "Did you set up this barrier?"

The man glanced at him but did not answer.

But that inexplicable, melancholic glance was truly chilling.

You Youju didn't press the matter further, but instead hung his mask back on the back of his head, intending to use magic to break the barrier.

The man finally spoke, his tone quite pitiful: "Stop! You're aiding and abetting evil! Aren't you afraid the vengeful spirits will turn into vengeful ghosts and haunt you?!"

You Youju stopped when he saw that he had achieved his goal, and asked in return, "Aiding the wicked? What do you mean?"

The man chuckled softly: "You who practice evil arts and kill demons are not being eliminated, so it's wrong for me to avenge my family?"

He raised his head, his tearful eyes fixed on You Youju, and cursed, "May you die a horrible death!"

No sooner had those words been spoken than the man was suddenly kicked to the ground, leaving a black footprint on his beautiful face.

It is Zhu Xun.

You Youju looked at Zhu Xun, who was furious, with surprise: "Zhu Xun, I'm asking you a question. You're being very disrespectful."

Zhu Xun took a step back, outwardly admitting his mistake, but inwardly remained calm: "I was wrong, Uncle."

The man propped his shoulders up, looking aggrieved.

You Youju helped him up and wiped away the black ash with a handkerchief: "I'm sorry, my nephew can't stand other people talking about me."

The man still frowned and said fiercely to Zhu Xun, "You won't die a good death either!"

"Thud." He was bounced back to the ground again.

It is especially tangerine...

You Youju looked down at the unfazed man and laughed, "Sorry, I can't stand people talking about him either. Not even a pretty girl. Besides, you just injured our teammate, and he's already been merciful enough to let you off the hook. Why bother with your words?"

Song Song pulled them out speechlessly: "Can you two get straight to the point? You can take your revenge later, okay?"

You Youju feigned apology and helped the man up again: "Are you a blockhead? Don't misunderstand, we are not Master Fu's people."

Upon hearing "Master Fu," anger flared in the beauty's bright eyes.

Song Song: "What happened to Master Fu?"

You Youju shook her head and asked the man, "What happened to Master Fu?"

The man stopped answering, and the others were not annoyed. You Youju went to the back to untie him.

The man was confused and tried to pull his hand back, but You Youju grabbed it from behind.

"The crane returns," You Youju murmured softly.

The man was startled, and suddenly reacted strongly by trying to pull his hand back, the silk thread even wrapping around You Youju's wrist.

Song Song: "Is Brother Ju acquainted with him?"
