Chapter 213 You get seven, I get three

What Shen Yanming didn't know was that because of the sudden arrival of Unknown No. 1, the Qinghe Alliance was afraid that the information they received about the apocalypse had changed, so they didn't provide guidance to everyone.

They thought to themselves, since something unexpected happened that the dream predictor hadn't foreseen, then perhaps the other things the dream predictor mentioned might not happen.

Qiu Man knew about this situation, but he couldn't say it. However, his eyes lit up when he heard about Shen Yanming's actions.

Because if the Qinghe Alliance does not specify the types of grains to be cultivated, the people of Qinghua will frantically test the waters between a bumper harvest and a complete crop failure. Rather than doing that, it would be better to follow the example of Shen Yanming and his group and secure half of the harvest.

Lost in thought, Qiu Man unconsciously walked to the edge of the field and observed the growth of other crops through the wire fence.

Shen Yanming ignored Qiu Man and bent down to add water to the water trough in the chicken coop.

After filling the water tank, Shen Yanming thought, "Since I've come all this way, I can't go back empty-handed."

So he found a big, fat corn cob, gently pried open a small slit with his fingernail, and found that the corn kernels inside, though not large, were still plump and tender.

Shen Yanming broke off a corn cob without hesitation, threw it on the ground, and continued looking for edible corn cobs.

Qiu Man was originally observing the growth of plants in other fields when he turned around and saw Shen Yanming breaking off corn cobs, which startled him.

"Hey, Xiao Shen, it's not harvest time yet. You can't just break them off just to eat something fresh!"

"Let them grow a little longer, maybe we can harvest a few more kilograms of corn kernels!" Qiu Man hurriedly shouted to stop Shen Yanming.

Shen Yanming didn't stop what he was doing. After Qiu Man ran over, he pointed to the locusts on the leaves and said to Qiu Man, "Look, there are more and more of these insects. We can still eat some fresh ones now, but if we wait for the corn to grow longer, who knows if we'll still be able to eat them in the future?"

Qiu Man was stunned to see so many locusts on the corn leaves. "When did this happen?" he asked.

"It's always been there, but it seems like there are especially many this year."

Shen Yanming thought for a moment and said, "Think about it, a long drought will inevitably lead to locusts. Although Qinghua Kingdom has not yet experienced a locust plague, other places may be in danger."

Qiu Man's eyes widened in shock upon hearing this. Their superiors had been focused on the HZ virus recently and hadn't noticed the changes in the fields. It seemed he needed to go back and report immediately.

Hearing Shen Yanming say this, Qiu Man saw no need to stop him any longer. He followed Shen Yanming's example and picked a few ears of corn from the field.

Seeing that there were already more than twenty ears of corn piled up on the ground, Qiu Man quickly stopped Shen Yanming, "That's enough, that's enough. How much can you two eat? Don't break them off all at once and let them go bad!"

Shen Yanming glanced at it and said with a smile, "We'll keep two or three to cook, and you can take the rest back with you, so that everyone can have something fresh to eat."

"You two have a hard time farming, so don't spend money on this. Keep it for yourselves. Who knows what the future holds?"

Knowing that too much of a good thing can be bad, Shen Yanming stopped picking corn and said with a smile, "Alright then, you can come over to my cornfield whenever you want to eat some."

Qiu Man knew that Shen Yanming was just being polite. "You kid, I drove all the way from Beijing just to eat a few ears of corn from your family? If you're so kind, just send them to me!"

Shen Yanming smiled without saying anything, bent down and picked up the corn on the ground. "It's time to go back. Qiao An should have already cooked dinner."

"Alright!" Qiu Man bent down to help, but the two of them hadn't brought any bags when they went out, so they really couldn't carry them all back in one trip.

Shen Yanming simply took the water trough off the chicken coop, put it on the ground, then filled it with all the corn, and carried it down Qingning Mountain with Qiu Man.

The two did not go upstairs directly, but went to the underground parking garage. Shen Yanming only kept three ears of corn, and stuffed the rest into Qiu Man's trunk.

When the two arrived home, Bi Qiaoan had already prepared dinner. Dinner was simple tonight; Bi Qiaoan cooked tomato and vegetable noodles for everyone.

Qiu Man didn't complain, after all, he ate the same things every day, and besides, the cafeteria chef's skills weren't as good as Bi Qiaoan's.

After they finished eating, the sun had already set. Qiu Man checked the time; it was 7:30.

Qiu Man saw that it was almost time to say goodbye to Shen Yanming, but Bi Qiaoan stopped her because the corn was almost cooked.

So Qiu Man waited a few more minutes until he finished eating the corn before saying goodbye to the two of them.

Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan carried flower pots, while Qiu Man carried a suitcase, and the group went downstairs.

After chatting with the two for a few minutes, Qiu Man drove away.

Qiu Man drove his car down the deserted street, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. Indeed, he was very satisfied with his experience today.

Originally, he planned to stay in the car all day after getting the items, but when he saw Shen Yanming's kitchen, he decided to stay at Shen's house and eat there for free.

Hehe, fresh vegetables are so delicious, and the young couple are so generous. It seems I'll have to help them clean up the mess when I get back.

Qiu Man traveled all the way to Beijing and met up with his guards who had returned from Huai City a few hours later in the suburbs of the capital.

After the two returned the car, the guard said with a smile, "Which rural area did you go to? You even brought back so much corn!"

Qiu Man smiled and handed five or six guards to them. "The villagers are so enthusiastic. When they heard that I came from the capital, they immediately crammed me into my car. They said that it was because of the Qinghe Alliance that they have such a happy life today, and they all wanted to thank me."

Seeing that Qiu Man still had quite a few cars in his car, the guard didn't stand on ceremony, and the two parted ways after exchanging a few words.

Even though the guard was covering for Qiu Man on this trip, Chief Li didn't let him know where Qiu Man went or what he did. Moreover, the surveillance footage along the way had been taken care of.

The next day, Qiu Man took the items directly to General Li.

He didn't take his suitcase with him, but he did take his son's schoolbag.

It contained coffee beans, tea leaves, rose jam, and other things that Shen Yanming had brought for him.

However, when he was at home, he kept a small portion of it.

"Boss, this is my gift to you!" Qiu Man smiled and took out a half-full bottle of coffee beans and tea from his bag, placed it on General Manager Li's desk, and then took out dried strawberries and milk curds from his bag.

Li Zongmeng raised an eyebrow. "That's all? It looks like you embezzled half of it."

Qiu Man touched his nose and chuckled dryly, "Hehe, I can't go out and come back empty-handed, can I? Boss, let's split the spoils 70/30, you get 70% and I get 30%!"
