Chapter 395 A Dark Night Makes Things Easier

When Shen Yanming saw his wife coming over, he quickly found a recliner and placed it next to him, then helped Bi Qiaoan sit down.

"What do you want to eat? I'll get it for you!" Shen Yanming said to Bi Qiaoan, looking at the boxes and boxes of snacks on and under the shelves.

Bi Qiaoan shook her head and said, "When I was first reborn, I wanted to eat everything I saw. I felt like I could never get enough of it. But later, when I started stockpiling supplies, I realized that I didn't actually crave many things that much."

The reason I can't forget it is nothing more than a longing for the past. I want to use something to prove that I'm still alive, that I truly exist.

So, you've noticed, that's why I rarely eat snacks anymore.

Shen Yanming nodded, not insisting. He took a cup of milk from the space cow from the shelf, sat down next to Bi Qiaoan, and kept her company, drinking and chatting.

It wasn't until almost midnight that Shen Yanming managed to sense the outside environment through his spatial dimension. Well, apart from the stinking cesspool, there was no one there.

He greeted Bi Qiaoan, changed into all-black clothes, pants, and shoes, and even put on a wig before leaving the space. Then, after observing from the bathroom to make sure no one was around, he headed towards the spot he had chosen during the day.

He moved quickly, but his footsteps were light. In order not to leave any obvious traces, Shen Yanming did not take out any means of transportation such as bicycles, electric bikes, or cars along the way, but relied entirely on walking.

It's important to understand that Suzhou is a very large city, even the East District is quite large. Even at his fastest pace, it took Shen Yanming nearly three hours to reach Xichen Company.

He didn't act rashly, but carefully observed his surroundings as he walked, fearing he might encounter refugees trying to profit from the earthquake. Upon arriving at his destination, Shen Yanming immediately checked his surroundings, making sure there were no other living people around before heading towards the warehouse he had his eye on.

The warehouse was almost completely collapsed, but to Shen Yanming's surprise, during the day, looking through the gaps in the steel plates on the roof, all he could see was darkness inside, with no bricks or stones in sight.

Shen Yanming recalled that long ago, the grain storage warehouses in flour mills didn't have flat floors; instead, they were sunken into the ground like funnels. He speculated that the one he discovered might be the most original type of warehouse that hadn't been backfilled.

When he got closer, he shone his flashlight inside and found that, just as he had expected, it was a huge pit. However, there was no food at all; the bottom of the pit only contained some cement blocks, brick fragments, and rubble.

Shen Yanming was conflicted. If he put the grain in directly, the cement blocks and bricks would inevitably be buried at the bottom. Once the guards removed all the grain from the top, they would know something was wrong without even thinking too much.

However, if he were to collect those bricks and stones and place them on top of the grain, he would inevitably have to go down to the bottom of the pit, but it was so deep, how could he possibly get down?

Shen Yanming was caught in a dilemma. Then he realized that only wheat could be stored here, and the rice would have to be stored somewhere else.

So, putting aside such troublesome matters for now, he bypassed the large pit and wandered around for about half an hour before finally finding a partially collapsed warehouse.

The reason I'm satisfied is that it's like a sealed room, with two layers, an inner and an outer one. The outer layer collapsed, while the inner layer is almost intact, with only a basketball-sized hole in the wall, which is obscured by the surrounding reinforced concrete and aluminum alloy, making it difficult to see from a distance.

Shen Yanming took out a pair of gloves from his spatial storage, put them on, and then opened the door to the warehouse. The warehouse was empty, about 100 square meters in size.

He touched the ground; it was covered in a thick layer of dust. So, Shen Yanming leaned against the wall, walked to the innermost part of the warehouse, and took out countless bags of rice from his spatial storage, filling two-thirds of the small warehouse. Then, he took out bags of soybeans from his spatial storage, filling the remaining third of the warehouse.

Moreover, while putting his things away, he also cleaned up the footprints. While it wasn't exactly professional, at least he'd finished cleaning up. At worst, he wouldn't wear those shoes again.

Then, he gently closed the door, swept away the footprints at the doorway with a broom, restoring it to its original state as when he first arrived.

Then, after observing his surroundings again and finding it quiet and without any suspicious figures moving around, Shen Yanming returned to the large pit.

That dilemma has resurfaced. If it were before the earthquake, it would be easier to just tie a safety rope somewhere and let him slide down. But now, there isn't even a fixed spot, so he has a safety rope but no way to use it.

But giving up like this seems a bit too much. We've finally decided to do something worthwhile; we can't just abandon it halfway through!

Shen Yanming sat in the ruins for a long time before finally deciding to take the risk. He lifted up the aluminum alloy plate, and a loud clattering sound rang out against the silent night sky.

Shen Yanming was startled and quickly crouched down to look around. Only after confirming that everything was normal did he feel relieved. At that moment, he felt that he would have to do something to make up for the thrilling experience of the night.

After reopening the opening, Shen Yanming crawled inside. He then backed away, clearing away his footprints as he went, constantly watching his step to avoid accidentally slipping and falling into the pit.

After walking anxiously to the edge of the pit and cleaning up the last footprint, Shen Yanming took out a thick cotton quilt from his spatial storage, wrapped himself in it, and then sat on the edge and slid down.

To slow down, he entered the subspace almost every second. After more than ten times, Shen Yanming finally reached the bottom of the pit without any major incident.

Of course, the so-called "near miss" only meant no serious injury; when Shen Yanming hit the concrete block, he still felt a sharp pain in the sole of his foot. Yeah, it felt like jumping from a height of 1.5 meters and then crouching down.

He rubbed his legs, then took out a bottle of spiritual spring water from his spatial storage and drank a couple of mouthfuls to recover. After collecting the debris from the bottom of the pit into his spatial storage, Shen Yanming took out all the dried wheat grains from the storage area.

Because the space here is large enough, he no longer needs to only put out a small portion of the prepared food, as he did in the small warehouse before. Here, he can take out as much as possible.

However, as he left the grains, half of Shen Yanming's body was buried in the wheat. He had no choice but to pull himself out, sit on the pile of wheat, and continue putting the grain out.

So, the grain in the pit kept getting higher and higher. When it was about two-thirds full, Shen Yanming felt it was enough and released the rubble from his spatial storage. Yes, it remained in the same position it had been stored in.
