Chapter 463 has a tragic ending.

After he said that, the number of curious glances around him decreased considerably.

Ji Kangyong rolled his eyes at the idiot next to him, and under his shocked gaze, he moved the box off the side and walked towards the elevator.

Shen Yanming nudged Zhang Heping, who was still in a daze, with his elbow, indicating to him, "The boxes near that side of the car door are lighter."

Unexpectedly, these words struck a nerve. He retorted, "What do you mean? Are you saying that I, a seven-foot-tall man, am no match for that seven-foot-one-inch strongman?"

Shen Yanming chuckled, "Isn't this the truth?"

Hearing this, Zhang Heping glared at Shen Yanming, his eyes almost turning into cross-eyed stares. Just as he was about to say something in rebuttal, he heard Ji Kangyong's cool voice, "What are you dawdling for? Don't you know time is precious!"

Zhang Heping's momentum immediately deflated. He glanced unwillingly at the other person's broad shoulders and strong legs before reluctantly walking to the other side of the car door and picking up the storage box that was clearly different from the other two boxes.

Sure enough, this box was much lighter. He lifted it without much effort. It weighed only twenty or thirty pounds.

Then she walked towards the elevator, not forgetting to add, "You wait here, I'll go over there and get Kang Yong to come and help you."

Shen Yanming ignored him, bent down and moved the remaining box out from the middle, then stuck his fingers into the gap at the top. Instantly, a huge watermelon appeared inside. It was so big that the lid almost couldn't close properly.

He estimated the weight of the box, then used about 30% of his strength to lift it up, gestured to Bi Qiaoan, and strode to catch up with Zhang Heping.

Zhang Heping shouted from behind, "Old Shen, you're fooling me again. There's definitely nothing in that box of yours, right? Otherwise, how could someone with your physique be more awesome than Ji Kangyong?"

Shen Yanming did not answer this directly. He just smiled and said, "Don't you understand that a scholar should be viewed with new eyes after three days of separation?"

Zhang Heping clearly didn't believe it. He shook his head and said, "Your progress is too obvious. Your strength is amazing! I don't believe it. You must be saying this to fool me."

Shen Yanming scoffed, "Then why don't you try moving it yourself in a bit and you'll see? Do you really need me to teach you?"

After saying this, the two walked to the elevator. Ji Kangyong had already opened the elevator door and was waiting for them.

Shen Yanming put the box inside, then turned around to pick up Bi Qiaoan.

After placing the storage box on the ground, Zhang Heping went to pick up Chen Yanming's box. Unexpectedly, he couldn't lift it at all.

This realization made him curse out loud, "Damn, Lao Shen is getting more and more awesome. Now I'm the only one left, still a weakling."

A rare smile appeared on Ji Kangyong's usually stern face. He said, "I told you to exercise every day, but you always slack off. Seeing how the rest of us are transforming, aren't you worried at all?"

"What are you worried about?" Zhang Heping asked, his big, bewildered eyes showing his complete confusion.

Ji Kangyong sighed, his gaze seemingly becoming distant, "One day, if you fall too far behind and can't keep up with us, you will lose the right to be our brother."

Zhang Heping felt a chill run down his spine. He didn't know why, but he felt that Ji Kangyong was living in another world. His eyes were filled with endless desolation, while in reality, all he saw was a white wall.

Ji Kangyong's emotions came and went quickly. He quickly composed himself and looked at Zhang Heping, saying, "This world will become more and more cruel. Gradually, we will need to fight to earn the right to survive."

"Damn, Lao Ji, did you have to scare me like that?" Zhang Heping shuddered, unwilling to admit that he had just been frightened.

Seeing his attempt to cover up his misunderstanding, Ji Kangyong simply smiled and said nothing more.

Shen Yanming was unaware of their conversation. He took their bags, then half-embraced Bi Qiaoan and headed towards the elevator.

When the two arrived, they noticed that the atmosphere in the elevator was very strange.

One person stood at the door, pressing the open button with a blank expression, while another leaned against the elevator wall, constantly rubbing goosebumps on their body, occasionally glancing at the calm person, but with inexplicable grievance and panic in their eyes.

Shen Yanming laughed and said, "Old Ji, what did you say to him that scared him like this?"

"Nothing much, just a brief mention of the dismemberment case the department recently solved."

Under Zhang Heping's accusatory gaze, Shen Yanming asked, "Oh? This case is special?"

"Yes, the ending was tragic, but the trigger was quite funny." Ji Kangyong nodded.

Now, not only Shen Yanming was interested, but Bi Qiaoan and Zhang Heping also perked up their ears, eager to hear the story.

Ji Kangyong didn't keep them in suspense and said directly: "The reason is that the eldest sister-in-law resented that her brother's wife sent ten catties of cornmeal to her parents' home, while the new bride was unhappy that the eldest sister-in-law had brought her whole family to live with her husband's family for half a year."

And so, the two started arguing. The argument escalated, and both grabbed weapons and began fighting. In a moment of carelessness, the older sister-in-law accidentally killed her younger brother's wife.

Then, in a panic, she sought out her husband and son. Not wanting to go to jail, and considering that no one was home at the moment, she decided to go all the way and chopped the person up, burying them under the pomegranate tree behind the yard as fertilizer. Then, she continued to freeload at her parents' house as if nothing had happened.

The deceased's husband couldn't find his wife anywhere, so he searched everywhere but couldn't find her. He had a feeling something was wrong and wanted to call the police, but his guilty and scared sister and brother-in-law stopped him.

They knelt down before their brother, begging him to forgive her out of family ties. In short, it boils down to this: aren't the living more important than the dead?

The deceased's husband ignored his words and insisted on reporting the case because his wife was carrying a baby who was two or three months old.

And that's how the incident came to light. When we arrived at the scene and found the decaying body parts, we were almost scared to death. It was truly horrific.

Even strangers wouldn't go so far as to chop someone into pieces. But that couple was so cruel; they dismembered the person so badly that not a single bone could be found.

The three of them listened intently, and only when the story ended did they realize that the elevator had been stuck on the 16th floor for a very long time.

The group of people involuntarily shuddered, and their gazes toward Ji Kangyong were filled with complex emotions.

Zhang Heping went even further, complaining, "Old Ji, why did you have to say something so unromantic on such a beautiful day? Look at you, you've scared Qiao An so much her face has turned pale."

In reality, he didn't know that his voice was trembling and his complexion was not much better.
