"Sigh, that's the good thing about young people, they don't have to worry much. My house has been packed these past few days, it's really exhausting me. Look at these dark circles under my eyes, I can't even hide them," Chen Qing said, pointing to his dark circles.
"Our family is in complete chaos too!" Wei Qin rubbed her temples, indicating that she felt the same way.
"My parents and my wife's parents are here, and they almost brought my brother-in-law's whole family to our house. You know, my house is only 90 square meters with three bedrooms. You don't know how my wife and I have to squeeze into one bed with our son and daughter. We can't sleep at night. Maybe in a few days I'll have to sleep on the floor." Shi Leyong shook his head and sighed, looking utterly hopeless.
"What happened?" Li Yueya asked, looking completely bewildered.
“Many low-lying rural areas were flooded, and I guess they all went to the city to stay with relatives.” Bi Qiaoan recalled the flooded suburbs she had seen that day.
"I know, I know, it's because it's been raining for almost three months, and the low-lying areas have all been flooded."
Actually, if it were just raining, it wouldn't be a big problem. The key issue is that many villages don't have access to tap water, so those areas don't have clean water, and many people are getting sick. Recently, there have been a lot of cases of gastrointestinal infections and fevers in hospitals.
"Besides, the rain is heavy and lasts a long time, and the village still has dry toilets, you know?" Yu Shui raised an eyebrow and asked Li Yueya.
Before Li Yueya could answer, Yu Shui continued, "The dry toilets were all flooded. After they were filled with water, you know how it is. So those places were almost impossible to walk in. Not to mention that because of the rain, some bungalows were leaking, and some walls were covered with mold, moss, and poisonous mushrooms. It was a terrible sight."
"Yes, my mother-in-law cried and said that people in the village couldn't even get water. Many people ate unclean food and were vomiting and had diarrhea. They were sent to the hospital overnight. She cried and said she didn't want to die. What could I do? I could only take her in and take good care of her."
Wei Qin sighed and continued, "It's fine if they come to stay for a day or two in the past, but this time it's hard to say how long they'll stay. Our lifestyle is different from the elderly, and if we're together every day, we'll easily have conflicts."
“My younger sister and my uncle’s younger cousin are arguing every day, which is giving us a headache. But you know, we can’t just kick my uncle and his family out in this situation,” Chen Qing also expressed his troubles.
Bi Qiaoan sighed, "These are people who have relatives in the city. I don't know what to do with those who don't have relatives in the city."
“Someone should take care of this. Look, everyone’s talking about it online. Maybe there will be a solution in a few days,” Yu Shui said, pointing to the news on Weibo on her phone.
"I hope so!"
While the discussion continued over there, Shen Yanming was handing out wedding candies and invitations to everyone by himself.
"Why didn't your wife come?"
"It's raining heavily, I don't want her to go through all that trouble."
"Shen Yanming, are you really getting married? You're still so young, you..." Michelle took the invitation, her heart aching as if stabbed by needles.
Shen Yanming interrupted Michelle directly, "My wife and I grew up together, we were destined to be together."
Michelle, as if she had lost her mind, roared, "Don't you get tired of living with the same person for so many years?"
Shen Yanming frowned, his voice icy, "Then I wish you a future where you change your partner every day!"
“Shen Yanming, you…” Michelle looked at Shen Yanming in disbelief after she came to her senses.
Shen Yanming ignored him and left the office with the invitation to find Zhu Shiliang, and even asked Director Zhu to bring Zhu Ranran with him.
Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan were returning home from get off work when they saw a middle-aged couple coming out of apartment 1601. The couple paused for a moment upon seeing them. Shen Yanming immediately frowned. Just as Bi Qiaoan was about to ask something, Zhang Heping's girlfriend, Song Qingqing, came out.
Song Qingqing smiled awkwardly, "You're back. These are my mom and dad."
Bi Qiaoan smiled and asked, "Are you going out?"
"Well, we're almost out of food at home, and we were just about to go out and buy some." Song Qingqing felt a little guilty, as if she'd been caught red-handed, and quickly pushed her parents to the other side of the elevator and pressed the down button.
Bi Qiaoan nodded and didn't say anything more before going into the house with Shen Yanming.
"I have a feeling that Song Qingqing is acting a little strange," Bi Qiaoan said to Shen Yanming as she changed her shoes.
"Zhang Heping probably doesn't know that she brought her parents over," Shen Yanming said in a very unpleasant tone.
"You never know. Maybe they've gotten along better now, or maybe Zhang Heping is kind-hearted and brought them over. My colleagues say that recently a lot of people from the countryside have come to the city to stay with their relatives."
"Yes, I've heard that too. In some places, the sewage from the floodwaters is overflowing. If it weren't for the energy rain, there would be a plague."
"But I've heard that many people have been hospitalized with gastroenteritis?"
"Energy rain isn't a panacea either; in that kind of environment, you're lucky if you can even survive."
Bi Qiaoan thought about it and realized that it made sense. After all, there had really been a plague outbreak in the apocalypse, and compared to the plague, vomiting and fever were nothing.
Seeing Bi Qiaoan turn and go into the kitchen, Shen Yanming picked up his phone and sent a message to Zhang Heping: "Come home and visit when you have time!"
When Zhang Heping received the message, he was taken aback. It was probably something that had happened to his family, but it wasn't anything serious. So there was only one possibility: Song Qingqing had caused trouble again.
Zhang Heping scratched his slightly greasy short hair with his right hand and cursed irritably, "You're such a headache!"
"Dr. Zhang, another emergency!"
