The weekend arrived quickly. Shen Yanming got up early, bathed the two children, changed them into clean clothes, and, along with Bi Qiaoan, took gifts and prepared to go to Li Zhaozhao's house.
Today is his wedding. Although it won't be a big celebration, we still want to join in the fun.
Bi Qiaoan was making the final arrangements in the living room. "Dried fish, dried mushrooms, and wood ear fungus are a gift for each family, and these are for our trip. As for the chocolates, red wine, and small umbrellas, these are wedding gifts for Li Zhaozhao, right?"
Shen Yanming nodded. "No, think about whether there's anything else you want to send."
Bi Qiaoan glanced at the two babies and smiled, "I think they'll need baby supplies. So, will sending them small umbrellas make Uncle Li and Aunt Li resentful?"
Shen Yanming chuckled and ruffled Bi Qiaoan's long hair: "What kind of time is this to be making jokes like this? After the wedding, we'll tell them what happened, and I'm sure they'll understand."
Bi Qiaoan slapped his hand away and ran her fingers through her long hair. "Are you really sure the next disaster is related to the sea? Is it a drying up or a tsunami? We live so far from the sea, we shouldn't be affected, right?"
Shen Yanming shook his head. "Who knows? The sea level has been decreasing for almost a year now. Who knows when it will rebound? It's like a spring; the harder you compress it, the stronger it bounces back. Of course, these are just my guesses, and they may not be right. We just need to explain what we've seen to them, and let them figure out the rest themselves."
“Okay, I believe they all know what’s going on,” Bi Qiaoan said, pursing her lips.
"Have you packed yet? If you have, let's go."
Bi Qiaoan changed into a pretty dress, slung her small backpack over her shoulder, and sighed, "Alas, what a pity. If it were before the apocalypse, I could have given them a huge bouquet of roses." There was a garden in her space, but she didn't dare to pick any and give them away.
Shen Yanming smiled and said, "It's alright. When you get back, you can pick some flowers to decorate the house."
Before Bi Qiaoan could say anything, An'an and Nuannuan raised their little hands and said, "Mommy, I'll help you!"
The couple knew perfectly well that their two children just wanted to join in the fun and play, but she still nodded and said, "Then thank you, my darlings!"
Bi Qiaoan held one of the little cuties' hands, while Shen Yanming followed behind with their gifts. The family of four went downstairs.
Those enjoying the cool air downstairs saw this and asked with smiles, "Where are you going for fun?"
Shen Yanming smiled and said, "It's my brother's wedding, let's go and have a look."
"Oh, what a happy occasion! That's wonderful!"
Shen Yanming nodded, settled the mother and her two children in, and then sat in the driver's seat, slowly driving away from the escort team.
The family of four arrived at the Li family villa at 10:30 a.m. They saw Uncle Li and Aunt Li standing at the villa entrance, welcoming the guests who had come to offer their congratulations.
Actually, it wasn't much; just a few neighbors who came over to say a few words of celebration, gave a gift, and then left.
Shen Yanming parked the car next to the villa and looked at the guests who had just left, asking with some confusion, "Uncle, Aunt, aren't they going in for dinner?"
"Oh my, Xiao Shen is here!" Li's mother was much more enthusiastic than before, and she tried to take his arm and lead him inside. "Your friends have all come over. Come on, come in and rest for a while."
Shen Yanming was a little overwhelmed and quickly said, "Auntie, don't worry, I also brought you gifts."
He then opened the trunk and took out dried fish, dried mushrooms, and wood ear fungus. "I traded these with locals when I was traveling a couple of days ago, and I'm using them to add to my meal today."
Li's mother didn't stand on ceremony and directly told her husband to take the things inside before saying, "Those were neighbors. They heard that Zhao Zhao was getting married, so they came over to bring some vegetables and meat. I would like to invite them in, but we can't afford it."
Li's mother wasn't afraid of Shen Yanming laughing at her. She winked at him and said, "We're just family, so it's fine to have a good meal. It hurts my heart to let outsiders take advantage of us. We'll register all these gifts, and we can return them when they have a happy occasion or when they're short of vegetables in the winter."
Shen Yanming nodded knowingly and gave a thumbs-up to show his stance.

He smiled and nodded, opened the back seat door, and took Nuannuan out of the child safety basket.
The little girl was a bit curious in the unfamiliar environment. Her eyes darted around as she looked at the kind-smiling woman in front of her. A little bewildered, Nuannuan tentatively said, "Hello, Auntie!"
Li's mother was overjoyed by these words, and almost beamed with happiness. She picked up Nuannuan and said, "Little cutie, I could be a grandma already, why are you still calling me 'Auntie'?"
Nuannuan was a little confused and didn't know what to say.
At this moment, Bi Qiaoan got out of the car and said, "You look so young, you don't look like a grandmother at all."
Nuannuan nodded: "Yes, Grandma's hair is white." The person in front of her, although a bit old, didn't have many wrinkles on her skin, and her hair was still black. She didn't look like Grandma at all.
Li's mother beamed with delight: "My little darling, I'll take that as a compliment on how young I look!"
She smiled warmly and nodded.
An'an got out of the car and was a little bewildered by the scene. Shen Yanming quickly reminded him, "Say hello to Grandma."
An'an glanced at her mother blankly, and seeing that she didn't object, she softly said, "Hello, Grandma!"
Bi Qiaoan smiled and squatted down to explain to him, "This is Uncle Li Zhaozhao's mother. Although she looks very young, she is of the grandparent generation. An'an must not call her by the wrong name in the future."
An'an nodded, indicating that she understood. After hearing this, Nuannuan looked at Li's mother carefully for several moments, but finally shook her head: "She doesn't look like Grandma."
This remark made everyone laugh. Mr. Li had just stepped outside when he heard their laughter and said, "Thanks to Xiao Shen for bringing the dried goods, we can have two more dishes today. Come on, hurry inside, the sun's strong outside, don't let the kids get sunburned."
After Shen Yanming had the two children greet Li's father, he led them into the house. Bi Qiaoan followed behind, carrying a gift box.
"What is this? You've already brought so much stuff, why did you bring a gift too!" Li's mother complained, but she couldn't hide the joy on her face.
Bi Qiaoan smiled and said, "Those were for the wedding. And this one I have is for the newlyweds."
Seeing that she was being coy, Li's mother didn't ask any further questions, but she still said with great gratitude, "Thank you. It's all thanks to you kids, otherwise my family's life would be in a terrible state."
"My wish is for Zhaozhao and Xiaojing to have a child as adorable as An'an and Nuannuan. That way, I won't have any regrets even when I die."
