Chapter 734 Unstable

An'an shivered slightly, and Bi Qiao'an took out small gloves from her bag: "Let's put on protective gear and then help Daddy, okay?"

The two children nodded obediently, put on their little gloves, and then touched the wheat ears. Sure enough, with the gloves on, their little hands didn't get pricked.

Shen Yanming was cutting wheat with a sickle in front, while Bi Qiaoan followed behind, keeping the two children company. The two children were young and not strong enough for anyone to let them carry tools, so Shen Yanming assigned the task of picking up the wheat ears.

This is not a very strenuous job; one adult and two children can do it. Moreover, this year is different from last year, so Shen Yanming is being extra careful when harvesting wheat to avoid wasting any.

The family of four worked enthusiastically, and before long, Shen Yanming was drenched in sweat. But looking back, he saw that Bi Qiaoan wasn't tired at all while taking care of the two children, which filled him with a sense of accomplishment and renewed energy.

As the day passed, looking at the few sacks left by the field, Shen Yanming sighed. He was finding it too difficult to work anymore.

Just as I was in a dilemma, Zhang Heping came over.

"Hey Lao Shen, you've done so much already!" Zhang Heping's somewhat gloating voice came from behind.

Shen Yanming nodded. "You came at just the right time. I was almost finished."

Zhang Heping smiled and said, "It's just that my job is special and I don't have any holidays. You've really worked hard." Looking at the sacks by the ground, he asked, "These are all ours, right? You can leave them there, I'll move them."

Shen Yanming didn't stand on ceremony with him: "Okay, I'll leave it to you. I really don't have the strength anymore."

"Okay, sit down and rest for a while." Zhang Heping bent down, picked up a sack, and left. Shen Yanming glanced over and saw that the man had put the sack on his bicycle.

Shen Yanming raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself that his buddy was quite clever. However, there was one downside to the two-wheeled vehicle: the back seat was too heavy, causing the front to tilt up, making it very inconvenient to push.

But we can't ride it now because the road on Qingning Mountain isn't flat; it goes up and down, especially the back part, which is a dirt road.

It would be great if we had four-wheeled shopping carts.

Shen Yanming pondered this, but made no move to take out the small cart from his spatial storage. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but rather that it wasn't appropriate. So, Zhang Heping would have to bear the burden.

He made several trips back and forth before finally getting a few bags of wheat down the mountain. When he got to the last two bags, Shen Yanming said directly, "Let's go together. It's getting late, we should go back and cook."

Zhang Heping nodded, watching others carry bags with ease, while he struggled even with tools. He reflected on whether he was too incompetent.

Zhang Heping was preoccupied with his thoughts and wasn't paying much attention to where he was going. He tripped over a stone and almost fell.

Shen Yanming reacted quickly and helped him up. Zhang Heping said with lingering fear, "Thanks, Lao Shen."

"You're welcome. Take care while you walk."

Zhang Heping nodded, then asked unwillingly, "Old Shen, do you think I'm really that weak? I train every day, but I still can't compare to you guys."

Shen Yanming glanced at him in surprise before saying, "No, you've already improved a lot. We have different professions, and we spend different amounts of time training each day. So, don't think too much about it." If he didn't have his own spatial ability, he might not even be as good as the other person.

Zhang Heping sighed, "Alright, I'll try my best to adjust."

Shen Yanming nodded and didn't say anything more. After a moment of silence, Shen Yanming asked, "How are you and Xiaoqian doing? Don't you need to go help?"

Zhang Heping gave a wry smile: "It's no use. They found someone with a large family, and they've already finished collecting the goods."

Shen Yanming raised an eyebrow and offered a half-hearted consolation: "It's alright, we'll look again. Wanwan is a good option."

Zhang Heping shook his head, "I wouldn't bear to harm my own sister."

Shen Yanming glanced at him and said coolly, "Zhang Heping, when did you become so self-aware? Even self-harm has its limits. What, you've become so insecure after being hurt once?"

Zhang Heping hesitated for a moment, but ultimately said nothing.

The group reached the bottom of the mountain in no time, and Shen Yanming and Zhang Heping loaded the last two bags of wheat into the car.

"Old Shen, I'll leave it to you. Take it to the guard team to shell and grind it into powder; it'll save you the trouble," Zhang Heping said.

“Okay, no problem.” Shen Yanming nodded in agreement.

"Okay, you drive back first, I'll follow behind on my bike."

"Um!"

The group quickly returned home. Shen Yanming prepared a simple dinner, and that concluded their day. Everyone was exhausted and went to bed early.

In Suzhou, Yuan Ruoxi looked at everyone's harvested wheat and was extremely jealous.

This year, the weather has been favorable, and grain production has increased significantly. However, because of what happened last year, Li Sikai is keeping a close eye on her and won't let her handle the grain at all.

Yuan Ruoxi was both angry and anxious, but there was nothing she could do.

well!

Seeing her looking worried, Tong Xianbao could only comfort her: "Honey, we won't go. Anyway, we have the guards to take care of us, and we won't have to worry about food."

"But I'm just not reconciled. So much, so much food, and it's not even bitter!" Yuan Ruoxi was a little agitated, her voice high-pitched and thin.

Tong Xianbao could only hug her: "Sweetie, we already have a baby. Isn't it better to wait in the shade? Why do you have to stand in the sun?"

Yuan Ruoxi pouted and put her hand on her lower abdomen: "I was just thinking that if I don't save food now that I have a child, I'm afraid he'll go hungry in the future."

Tong Xianbao's face showed a hint of heartache. "It's alright. With the guard team here, as long as your abilities don't disappear, we won't go hungry. Besides, this is the fruit of our hard-won love, so you must protect it."

Yuan Ruoxi nodded, recalling the doctor's instructions, her face filled with lingering fear.

That's right, her pregnancy was very unstable; there was a risk of miscarriage or premature labor at any time. She didn't dare tell Tong Xianbao, afraid that she would overthink it.

To be honest, she was also very upset. She had never done anything reckless, nor had she ever had an abortion. How could things suddenly become unstable?

Yuan Ruoxi asked the doctor, but the doctor couldn't give a clear answer either. Finally, by working backwards, they discovered that she had been experiencing irregular periods for a long time, with extremely heavy bleeding, leaving her with a yellowish complexion and signs of anemia.

"I need to take good care of myself this time, otherwise, I don't know if I'll be able to conceive again..."

The doctor's warning was still ringing in her ears. Yuan Ruoxi looked at the bright sun outside and dared not cause any more trouble.

"Alright, I'll just treat it as taking care of my pregnancy. As long as I'm of value, the guards won't abandon me," Yuan Ruoxi comforted herself.

Tong Xianbao nodded, not seeing any problem at all.

Lu Nanfang, who came over to pick up her things, overheard their conversation and a mocking smile curled at the corner of her lips.

"If you want to have a child, you'll have to see if I agree!" Lu Nanfang thought maliciously.

But in the blink of an eye, she put on a fake smile: "Ruoxi, how are you today?"
