Chapter 783 The Man-Eating Quagmire

Seeing that the person had run away, Li Sikai hurriedly went into the thatched hut to check the situation.

Yuan Ruoxi lay motionless on the bed, her face covered in red rashes.

Li Sikai put his finger under her nose and found that she was no longer breathing.

He pressed his fingers against her neck and found no pulse. The same was true for her heart; there was no beating.

Li Sikai couldn't quite put his finger on how he felt. The sudden loss of someone he'd spent two or three years with was still painful, even if he hadn't liked or disliked them before.

He sighed, and seeing that no one was outside, he quickly took off the diamond earring from Yuan Ruoxi's ear, put the replica back in his pocket, and then bowed deeply to the corpse.

After leaving the thatched hut, he ran more than a hundred meters before catching up with a bystander. He said many kind words to the man before he agreed to help look after Yuan Ruoxi's body.

Following the direction the main group was running, Li Sikai quickly caught up with Xiong Jianwei and Geng Zhixing.

The team members all thought the jade bracelet was a spatial carrier, and they were annoyed that they hadn't kept an eye on her and had gone too far, so they all desperately chased after Lu Nanfang.

Lu Nanfang was also in a bad situation. She was already moving at top speed, but she still couldn't shake off Tong Xianbao, who was several steps behind. Not to mention the guards chasing after her and the hundreds of onlookers.

Lu Nanfang thought to herself, "Tong Xianbao is such an idiot. He dares to talk about such an amazing treasure. Isn't he afraid of being hunted down?"

In reality, Tong Xianbao hadn't thought that much about it; he was just instinctively trying not to let Lu Nanfang take away his treasure.

Furthermore, if the bracelet is truly recovered through the power of the masses, then everyone can sit down and reason with each other, and discuss the ownership of the space. Given his status as the former male owner of the space, he might very well gain some benefits.

That's why he would shout as he ran.

Lu Nanfang was seething with hatred, but there was nothing she could do about it. She thought that since that was the case, she might as well take the lead and become his master. At worst, she could take Yuan Ruoxi's place later.

She ran while biting her finger, and finally managed to draw blood. She then placed her finger on the bracelet, attempting to acknowledge it as her owner.

"Hurry up, suck my blood! Why aren't you moving?" Lu Nanfang was sweating profusely with anxiety. In her panic, she ran into a mud pit that no one had ever explored before.

Tong Xianbao didn't watch where he was going and followed them in.

The onlookers were alert; after running a dozen meters, they realized something was wrong and quickly retreated.

Geng Zhixing, Xiong Jianwei, and Sun Sainan, who were chasing after the bracelet, were blinded and hurriedly jumped into the mud, getting closer and closer to the two.

The allure of the space caused everyone to lose their sense of proportion.

When Li Sikai caught up, they were already nearly a hundred meters from the shore. He looked ahead from the shore and immediately realized something was wrong.

Lu Nanfang was almost sinking into the mud, but she was completely unaware and was still struggling to move forward.

"Come back, all of you come back, it's dangerous!" Li Sikai roared, but Tong Xianbao and Lu Nanfang ignored him.

Geng Zhixing, Sun Sainan, and Xiong Jianwei did hear it, but they couldn't care less about the danger at the moment. The thought of mission failure made them want to kill themselves.

"Come back, Lao Geng, Lao Sun, Lao Xiong, listen to me!" Li Sikai shouted hoarsely, and even went down into the mud himself.

The guards were frantic, their only thought being that the bracelet couldn't be lost. They pushed forward without even turning to look at Li Sikai.

Suddenly, a scream of "Ah!" rang out through the night sky, and everyone froze, looking in the direction of the sound.

Under the moonlight, there was no sign of anyone in the mud pit ahead.

"Lu Nanfang? Lu Nanfang, where are you?" Tong Xianbao had a bad feeling. He called out, but no one answered.

The mud pit was quiet; apart from those few people, there was no other sound.

"Lu Nanfang, stop being childish and respond! This is no joke!" Geng Zhixing shouted.

But still, there was no one.

"Oh my god, could something really have happened?" Sun Sainan said, instinctively wanting to go and help.

Xiong Jianwei followed closely behind. He didn't care whether Lu Nanfang lived or died, but that bracelet was of great significance to Qinghua Kingdom and the Alliance.

Seeing this, Geng Zhixing had no choice but to follow. Otherwise, he would feel uneasy if something happened to his two teammates.

Seeing that the three people were not only not retreating, but were rushing forward, Li Sikai became anxious and increased his speed in the mud.

He could roughly guess what his teammates were thinking, but he couldn't reveal the secret of the space in front of everyone. Besides, he had intentionally led people to believe that the bracelet was a vessel.

Tong Xianbao, however, got scared and hesitated for a moment before deciding to give up. Anyway, with the guards around, the bracelet wouldn't be lost.

But he was unlucky; he couldn't see the road clearly in the pitch-black night, and he veered off course. Then, a scream echoed Lu Nanfang's.

This time, the guards saw clearly that the mud pit could eat people!

They rushed to rescue Tong Xianbao.

It wasn't that they didn't want to save Lu Nanfang, but rather that the woman hadn't left a single trace, so even if they wanted to save her, they wouldn't know where to begin.

Tong Xianbao, however, is still struggling, and has a clear direction.

Unexpectedly, Tong Xianbao disappeared before they even got there.

"Damn it, did you go to sleep during training? You don't even know how to save yourself?"

"Even a fool knows that the more you struggle, the faster you sink!"

Xiong Jianwei and Sun Sainan grumbled and cursed, but they kept walking towards the scene. No matter how harsh their words were, after so many years as security guards, their first reaction to an accident was still to help.

After finally finding Tong Xianbao's location, everyone proceeded cautiously, fearing that they might also be caught in the flood.

Xiong Jianwei was groping around in the mud when he accidentally cut his arm on a piece of glass. He hissed and thought to himself, "I'm going to lose my life for this piece of junk."

What can we do? We've already come this far; it's clearly not going to make him give up.

Enduring the pain, I spun around in the mud, and with great difficulty, I finally managed to touch a round head.

Holy crap, Tong Xianbao is 30 or 40 centimeters deep in the mud. He must have died long ago, right?

Xiong Jianwei bent down slightly, his hands tracing down the head until he finally found the armpit, then he grabbed it with both hands and pulled it upwards with all his might.

But he couldn't pull it!

"Old Geng, I've found the person, but I can't pull them out. Come and help!"

"Hey, here I come, hang in there."

"There's broken glass here, be careful when you come over."

"Damn, how can we be careful? It's impossible to guard against!" Geng Zhixing wanted to say something, but he lost his footing and felt a fall.

"Ugh, I've been caught in this trap! What the hell is this quagmire? Why are there so many pits?"

"This place wasn't a swamp before, so how come it's been eating people?"

Geng Zhixing kept talking, but he wasn't flustered at all.

After he stretched out his arms to maintain his balance and stopped falling, he cast a helpless glance at Xiong Jianwei.

"Dude, sorry, my abilities are limited..."
