You said to keep going, but we might run into those cannibals. They might not be a match for us.
But turning back feels like a waste. Having come this far, going back would seem like such a cowardly move.
The rain continued to pour, showing no signs of letting up as time passed. Everyone looked grim, and finally, they decided to bypass the ruins and explore the other side of the city.
However, good fortune seemed to elude them. Just as dawn broke, they heard a deafening crash; half the building collapsed, leaving only ruins.
Qiao Gaiqin cried, feeling utterly wronged. All she wanted was to find a place to shelter from the rain; why couldn't God show her any mercy?
The others weren't in a good mood either, but they really couldn't stay here any longer. One of the men picked up Qiao Gaiqin and carried her along the path, planning to return to their original gathering place.
There are trees there, which can provide some shade.
When others saw this, they all followed suit.
Gong Mengjiao and Zhao Huixian also cried, sobbing as they said, "We don't know where Sister Qiao An is."
"Yes, if she were here, she would definitely have a way. Xianxian, I miss her. Although she's fierce, she's definitely capable."
Zhao Huixian nodded: "I miss her too. Although I sometimes feel resentful and jealous, I have to admit that she is better than all of us."
"Why do you think she left? Could it be that she's angry with us?"
"But we didn't do anything to provoke her."
"Hou Yongzhi crossed Sister Qiao An's bottom line."
"Sigh, I don't know why she suddenly did that. She really brought this on herself."
"What could it be? He's just blinded by jealousy."
The group walked for several more hours before finally reaching the small park they had visited earlier. They were stunned to see the clever young man and his two friends hiding under a tree.
When did you get back?
The young man was a little embarrassed, touching his wet hair and saying, "When it started raining, I called you, but you were sleeping too soundly and didn't answer me. I wasn't sure how heavy the rain would be, so I ran back first."
"But coming back won't help; this place won't offer much shelter from the rain." Otherwise, he wouldn't be soaking wet.
Everyone nodded in agreement, without arguing, since they had no obligation to pull them along.
"How did you get here from over there?" the young man asked.
Everyone looked grim, but they still shared what they had seen and heard.
After hearing this, the young man immediately cursed: "Damn it, haven't they been dealt with enough by my older sister? How dare they do such a heinous thing again? Where's my sister? Didn't you run into her? If she finds out, those guys definitely won't survive last night!"
Qiao Gaiqin shook her head: "We didn't dare stay inside any longer and came out. I don't know if Qiao An is there."
"Didn't you run into that guy surnamed Wu? He looks fierce; he's probably the new leader."
Everyone shook their heads: "No, we only met a group of unfamiliar people."
The young man nodded: "You guys are very lucky, otherwise, you might have suffered serious injuries."
"Sigh, let's not talk about that. Is there anything to eat? Everyone is starving."
The young man pointed at the tree: "We eat it ourselves; we just use the bark to fill our stomachs."
Everyone... Fine, they'll know.
If Bi Qiaoan, who was inside the space, knew it was raining outside, she would definitely be very glad that she left early; otherwise, she might have had to get soaked in the rain with them.
She cooked a lot of food in the kitchen, and when she felt it was about time, she took An'an to the storage area to find Shen Yanming.
The goose wanted to follow, but the environment there was simply not suitable for its survival. It could only reluctantly return to the grassland, turning back every few steps.
Bi Qiaoan smiled and comforted her, "I'll look for you again next time I come in."
The goose quacked twice to indicate that it understood, and then flapped its wings and flew away.
An'an was stunned and asked Bi Qiao'an, "Mom, can geese fly?"
Bi Qiaoan laughed and said, "It can only fly briefly." Her geese are different from those outside; you could say they've evolved several times over.
So, a goose isn't a bird?
Bi Qiaoan: "...It's a bird, but it can't fly very well."
An'an didn't quite understand, but she didn't dwell on it and followed her mother into the transparent light curtain.
Shen Yanming knew the mother and son had come in immediately. He smiled and said, "Wife, you're here. I've missed you so much."
Bi Qiaoan's face flushed slightly: "Didn't we just meet last night?"
Shen Yanming: "A day apart feels like three autumns, but even a few hours apart feels like an autumn."
Bi Qiaoan ignored him and changed the subject, asking, "What did you have for breakfast?"
"Milk and dried meat!"
"So what are you doing now?"
"We'll be fishing and catching shrimp. We're planning to leave in a couple of days, so for the next couple of days, we'll try to make do with small fish and shrimp that are hard to store. We'll dry mushrooms and wild vegetables and take them with us. If possible, we'd also like to hunt a few live rabbits and chickens to eat on the way."
Bi Qiaoan used her consciousness to activate the projection and saw the situation on Shen Yanming's side. The scenery was beautiful, a great place for a picnic, but the sky was overcast and it looked like it was going to rain.
"Honey, how's the food search going? It looks like it's going to rain soon."
Shen Yanming nodded: "Yes, it is quite humid here, but don't worry, we have already caught a lot of river delicacies. When it rains, we will go back to the cave to take shelter."
Relieved, Bi Qiaoan sat on the bird's nest swing chair with An'an in her arms, watching the scene. Seeing her mother staring intently at the sky, An'an asked, "Mommy, what are you looking at?"
“Look at your father and sister. They’re catching shrimp in the river.”
An'an looked around but saw nothing. She said, somewhat aggrieved, "I can't see."
Bi Qiaoan was at a loss for words to comfort her. She hugged An'an's little body and said, "It's okay, Mom will tell you."
Bi Qiaoan had considered whether to keep it a secret, but many things can't be hidden forever. Even if she didn't say anything now, her son would find out later. So she decided to confess and let the child know the truth.
Sure enough, An'an stopped crying as soon as he heard this. Listening to his mother tell stories about his father and sister, he asked questions from time to time, showing a great sense of participation.
As Shen Yanming listened to the mother and son's back-and-forth, the smile on his lips grew wider and wider.
Only when the two were tired did they ask, "Honey, is it raining where you are?"
Bi Qiaoan: "...Ah, I didn't know, I didn't notice. Wait a minute, I'll go check right now!"
She put An'an down, ran out of the transparent light screen, and used her consciousness to look outside. She found that it was pouring rain over the ruined city.
When she got back, she shared with her husband with a look of relief: "Luckily I hid inside, otherwise I would have experienced the flooding again. The rain outside was pouring down!"
Shen Yanming frowned slightly. Didn't this mean that his wife would be trapped for a long time?
He was a little unhappy, but didn't say it. "In that case, you should stay with An'an for a few more days. We can consider going out again when the weather clears up over there."
Bi Qiaoan nodded: "Yeah, this is a good opportunity to rest." It saves her from having to go out and face those people, which is annoying.
