Chapter 82 Wanting a Child

"Yes, yes, that's it!"

Seeing that everyone was saying the same thing, Bi Qiaoan didn't pursue the matter any further.

"You look much better." Li Yueya took out a tissue from her bag and handed it to Bi Qiaoan.

Bi Qiaoan didn't stand on ceremony and took the tissue to wipe the water droplets off her face. "I had an upset stomach just now, so I went to the bathroom to throw up. I felt much better right after I threw up. I guess I really ate too much at noon and my stomach was upset."

Li Yueya nodded, and when Bi Qiaoan wasn't looking, she mouthed to Yu Shui, "What should we do?"

Yu Shui shrugged, "It's okay, don't worry!"

Li Yueya pouted, looking sullen, glanced at Bi Qiaoan with a flicker of her eyes, and then got up and hid in the next office.

Yu Shui stared wide-eyed in shock at Li Yueya's outrageous antics, a sight that drew laughter from her colleagues in the office.

Bi Qiaoan was still looking at everyone with a blank expression. What was going on? Unfortunately, no one told her.

It wasn't until half an hour later, when Bi Qiaoan saw Shen Yanming appear in front of her, that she realized what everyone had been doing behind her back.

At this moment, she didn't blame anyone for touching her phone. She was touched by the fact that someone genuinely cared for her, and she was content that the man in front of her dropped everything and appeared before her the instant he heard she was sick.

Bi Qiaoan was led out of the office and only then did she realize that Shen Yanming had already asked for leave for her.

Once they were in the car, Bi Qiaoan asked, "Who called you?"

Shen Yanming didn't answer, but looked at Bi Qiaoan and asked, "If they don't call me, what will you do? Just put up with it?"

"I'm much better now, it's not that serious, I just need to rest for a while." Bi Qiaoan looked at Shen Yanming's increasingly dark face and suddenly felt a little lacking in confidence, her voice unconsciously lowering.

Shen Yanming touched Bi Qiaoan's still somewhat pale cheek and said softly, "Don't you know how worried I am?"

Looking at the worry in Shen Yanming's eyes, Bi Qiaoan felt a surge of emotion. "I... I won't do it again."

Shen Yanming could roughly understand that this was indeed not a big deal. For them in their previous lives, it was insignificant. But wasn't it different now?

Shen Yanming looked at Bi Qiaoan and said seriously, "I hope you can take your health seriously. After all, it belongs not only to you, but also to me."

Hearing Shen Yanming's slightly suggestive words, Bi Qiaoan's feelings of being touched vanished instantly. She glared at him angrily, "I thought you cared about me a lot, but it turns out you only have that kind of thing on your mind!"

Shen Yanming chuckled and rubbed the little head beside him. "So, in order to protect my rights, I hope that Ms. Bi Qiaoan will report to Comrade Shen Yanming in a timely manner if she feels even the slightest bit uncomfortable in the future."

Bi Qiaoan rolled her eyes at Shen Yanming, but nodded nonetheless, and then chuckled softly.

Half an hour later, the two drove to the hospital.

Bi Qiaoan didn't want to come. She was already much better and just needed another nap to be fine.

But Shen Yanming didn't think so. He was afraid that Bi Qiaoan might have other questions she hadn't told him, so he felt more at ease having her checked.

When the two entered the lobby, they found the hospital packed with people.

"Didn't they say all the patients were discharged?" Bi Qiaoan stared in disbelief at the crowd in front of her, then grabbed Shen Yanming, wanting to go home.

Shen Yanming, however, held Bi Qiaoan and wouldn't let her leave, saying, "I don't know, I'll call and ask Heping."

The two hadn't even waited two minutes in the lobby when they saw Zhang Heping walking over in a white coat.

"Why did you come here? Are you feeling unwell? You don't look like it!" Zhang Heping was still as nonchalant as ever, but his concern was evident in his words.

"Qiao An isn't feeling well, so I brought her to see a doctor."

"Where do you feel unwell? I'll arrange for you to skip the line for a checkup." Zhang Heping became anxious as soon as he heard this.

Bi Qiaoan quickly waved her hand, "It's nothing serious, just a little dizzy and nauseous. I think it was heatstroke. I'm much better now. I told him I was fine, but he just wouldn't believe me."

"Let's check it out to be on the safe side." Shen Yanming pulled Bi Qiaoan along and had Zhang Heping lead the way.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Heping was relieved. "It must be heatstroke. Look, nine out of ten people in this hall have heatstroke."

Zhang Heping gestured with his chin towards the crowd around him. "The rain has stopped, but it's so hot. High temperature and humidity can easily lead to heatstroke. Qiao An's condition is relatively mild. I'll prescribe some medicine for her and she can go home and rest."

Shen Yanming replied, "I'm married."

Um... okay, I get it!

So Zhang Heping took the two to see the old Chinese medicine doctor in the hospital for a pulse diagnosis. After all, it's not a good thing to go to the machine if there's nothing wrong with you.

After taking Bi Qiaoan's pulse, the old Chinese medicine doctor concluded that she had mild heatstroke and prescribed a medicine.

"Doctor, can my wife take these medicines? I mean, is my wife not pregnant?" Shen Yanming asked the old Chinese medicine doctor with a cautious attitude.

"Your wife isn't pregnant, but she's in good health. It's only a matter of time before you two have a child. You both seem quite young. This matter is best left to fate; don't rush it, haha!" The old Chinese medicine doctor thought Shen Yanming was anxious to have a child, so he quickly offered some words of comfort.

Shen Yanming breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. "I'm not in a hurry to have a child. I'm just worried about what if we get pregnant and my wife can't take her medicine? Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease."

The old Chinese medicine doctor nodded after hearing this, "Young man, you love your wife. Since you're here, stretch out your hand, and I'll take a look at it for you."

Upon seeing this, Shen Yanming sat down and placed his right hand on the pulse pillow.

Seeing that Shen Yanming didn't hesitate at all, the old Chinese medicine doctor became happy. "Young people these days don't really believe in traditional Chinese medicine. Your coming here today is a recognition of traditional culture. Not bad, young man."

Zhang Heping quickly interjected, "You're the pillar of our hospital! Those who say traditional Chinese medicine is useless are all... are all..."

Zhang Heping racked his brains and managed to squeeze out a few words: "Looking at the sky from the bottom of a well! Generalizing from limited information! Having only a superficial understanding! Having a narrow vision!"

The old Chinese medicine doctor chuckled and said, "You lad, although you studied Western medicine, you're a decent person and have a clear head. Traditional Chinese medicine has its merits. For example, right now, without any machines, I can tell if you're sick just by placing my hand on your body."

Shen Yanming nodded. "The old gentleman is right. Those who say traditional Chinese medicine is useless are just saying it's hard to learn. It's difficult to learn, and even harder to learn it well. People can't find good TCM doctors, so they can only say that TCM is useless."

The traditional Chinese medicine doctor smiled and nodded, not continuing the discussion on the matter. "Hmm, you're in good health. Having a child would be a piece of cake for you two. You must be using protection regularly, otherwise you wouldn't be childless yet."
