Shen Yanming smiled and ruffled her hair: "You're right."
Bi Qiaoan felt a pang of heartache seeing the dark circles under Shen Yanming's eyes. She called out to An'an and Nuan Nuan, then pulled the adult and the two children into the space.
"Honey, go wash up first, I'll go heat up some mutton soup for you."
"become."
Shen Yanming went into the bathroom and filled the bathtub with hot water, which he also mixed with a lot of spiritual spring water.
He immersed himself in it and felt incredibly comfortable all over.
He took out a plate of spiritual fruit from the storage area, peeled and ate two. His stomach pain lessened, but his wound was still slightly itchy, so he returned the fruit.
Perhaps it was too comfortable, because before long, Shen Yanming fell asleep leaning against the bathtub. Thirty-odd hours without stopping or resting—he was completely exhausted.
Bi Qiaoan, who was in the living room, couldn't hear any noise from the bathroom, and when she knocked on the door but no one answered, she knew what was going on.
She turned off the stove in the kitchen and served two bowls of mutton soup to An'an and Nuannuan. "Here, let's drink first."
An'an and Nuannuan turned their heads to look in the direction of the bathroom and asked in confusion, "Aren't we waiting for Daddy?"
Bi Qiaoan smiled and said, "Dad is too tired and is probably already asleep. Let's let him rest for a while and then wake him up."
The water's still warm, so she might as well take a nap. She'll go get someone in about ten minutes.
"I'll serve your father some soup to cool it down, so he can drink it as soon as he comes out."
The two children nodded obediently, grinned, and then focused their attention on the bowl in front of them.
Bi Qiaoan scooped up the soup with a spoon, blew on it to cool it down, and then fed it to the two children.
An'an and Nuannuan obliged and took a sip; their eyes lit up afterward.
They praised it, saying, "It's delicious!" and then asked Bi Qiaoan to give them the spoons so they could drink it themselves.
Bi Qiaoan touched the bowl and felt that the temperature was fine and wouldn't burn anyone, so she went along with their wishes.
I spent some time with the two kids and left only after seeing that they were behaving very well. Then I opened the bathroom door.
Shen Yanming's injured arm dangled outside the bathtub. Although the bleeding from the four wounds had stopped, they still looked gruesome.
Her heart clenched, but she had to suppress her emotions.
Bi Qiaoan gently nudged Shen Yanming: "Darling, wake up, get up and eat something before you go back to sleep."
Shen Yanming was fast asleep and was a little dazed when he was woken up.
He was helped out of the bathtub like a puppet, dried off, dressed in loose pajamas, and led out of the bathroom.
He only came to his senses when he held a warm bowl in his hands. Looking at the familiar surroundings, he didn't say a word and obediently drank a sip of the meat soup.
"Does your hand still hurt?" Since the wound had stopped bleeding, Bi Qiaoan didn't re-bandage it.
Shen Yanming shook his head: "It's alright, it's almost healed." Hmm, the flesh is itchy, it's recovering.
Bi Qiaoan rolled her eyes, thinking to herself that he really was talking nonsense.
An'an and Nuannuan looked at the four long wounds and trembled. "Daddy, how did you get hurt? The wounds are so big, how could they not hurt?"
Shen Yanming smiled and said, "Dad encountered a wolf outside. It's a very ferocious animal. He had to fight it to survive."
An'an and Nuannuan stared in astonishment, their mouths agape. They hadn't yet grasped the fact that they had just teetered on the brink of losing their father. They only marveled at how amazing Shen Yanming was, that he could actually defeat a wolf.
The two of them clung to Shen Yanming's arm, pestering him and asking, "Daddy, Daddy, how did you defeat the wolf?"
Shen Yanming was about to explain in detail when Bi Qiaoan interrupted him: "Eat first! You've been starving for several meals while you're out. Doesn't your stomach hurt?"
Shen Yanming smiled apologetically: "I'll tell you when Dad has rested up."
The two children were a little disappointed, but they still obediently let go of each other's hands.
Shen Yanming quickly finished the soup, then took two steamed buns from the storage area and ate them. Only then did he pat his full stomach and feel extremely comfortable.
He yawned, feeling a bit sleepy. Looking at the time, it was already 1:30. He said to Bi Qiaoan, "I'm going to take a nap."
Bi Qiaoan nodded: "Okay, go to sleep. We can talk about it after you wake up."
The two kids really wanted to keep up, but seeing their dad's tired appearance, they couldn't say a word.
Bi Qiaoan played with the two kids building blocks for a while, and then yawned. She hadn't really rested well either, but she was much better off than Shen Yanming.
When An'an and Nuannuan saw this, they yawned as if it were contagious.
With tears welling up in her eyes, Bi Qiaoan asked with a smile, "Do you want to go to sleep for a while?"
The two children looked at the bedroom door, shook their heads, and said they wanted to wait for their father.
Bi Qiaoan smiled slightly but said nothing more. She slumped on the sofa, squinting, and used her senses to scan the space, looking for any remaining crops to harvest.
It was 9:30 p.m. when Shen Yanming finally came out of the bedroom. The two children had been waiting for him until they fell asleep.
Bi Qiaoan sat on the sofa, reading a novel. Hearing footsteps behind her, she put down her phone, got up, and took Shen Yanming's arm. She glanced at the wound and was relieved to find that it was better than it had been at noon.
"Honey, I have to go out for a bit and bring back some meat from our house," Shen Yanming muttered.
Bi Qiaoan held onto his arm tightly: "Can't we take it tomorrow?"
Shen Yanming shook his head: "I guess everyone is worried and will probably go tonight. It would be strange if we didn't go."
Seeing this, Bi Qiaoan stopped stopping him, changed her clothes, and went with him.
Shen Yanming was somewhat touched. He stepped forward and hugged her, and then they left the space together.
The two trudged through the howling, cold wind, and after about forty minutes, they reached the agricultural area. There were already many people there, chatting and talking about their harvest.
Many people brought their families along, and the families were overjoyed to see the meat. They even forgot the fear of their family members almost losing their lives.
"Old Shen, you're here! Here's your basket, take it with you!" Li Gangtie carried a basket over and placed it at Shen Yanming's feet.
Shen Yanming nodded: "Thank you! What about yours? Has your sister-in-law arrived?"
"She didn't come, but my Tongtong came and is looking at things."
"Hmm." Shen Yanming smiled. "Aren't you going back?"
Li Gangtie waved his hand: "I'll leave after they all go back. What about you? Do you want to stay and chat for a while? It's quite lively here."
Shen Yanming glanced at Bi Qiaoan, and seeing that she didn't react, he shook his head: "No, it's cold, let's go back early. The two kids are sleeping at home, we're worried about them staying out too long."
Li Gangtie thought about it and agreed, saying, "Alright then, you guys go back quickly. I slept for a few hours today and I'm still sleepy. I imagine you are too."
Shen Yanming nodded: "Yeah, I almost couldn't get up. Sigh, I'm so tired. If I wasn't worried about my own meat, I wouldn't want to come out."
Li Gangtie laughed heartily: "Yeah, we're all the same."
