The two, who kept saying they'd drink less, finished off a bottle of red wine in one sip after another.
Although not drunk yet, her eyes were already somewhat glazed. Coupled with the dim yellow light of the night, the whole space felt ambiguous.
Ji Kangyong got up, turned off the light, then walked to the bed and lay down under the covers. A rustling sound came from behind, and then began the wedding night between the man and woman.
After returning home, Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan washed up and went to sleep. The two younger children had fallen asleep on the way and had to be carried back. They were only saved from catching a cold because they were bundled up tightly.
The next morning, before Bi Qiaoan was even fully awake, Shen Yanming left a note and departed.
He slung his bag over his shoulder and left the base, walking further and further away into less populated and more remote areas.
Two hours later, he arrived at a mountain. After wandering around the mountain and finding nothing of value, he clicked his tongue, found a secluded spot, and took out a few sets of small umbrellas, women's clothing, and men's clothing, stuffing them into his backpack.
He also packed some potato starch and about a pound of dried meat into a bag and carried it in his hand.
As he descended the mountain, a thought suddenly crossed his mind. Shen Yanming took out many seeds from his spatial storage and casually tossed them into the thick snow.
This time, Shen Yanming sowed spiritual energy seeds, including pumpkin, corn, tomato, cabbage, watermelon, loquat, apple, cantaloupe, passion fruit...
There was a lot of random stuff; basically, he would throw whatever was in the space out.
Regardless of whether they can sprout or not, I've done my best, and the rest is up to fate.
Shen Yanming slowly walked down the mountain when he suddenly caught sight of a hole. A slight smile appeared on his lips. He put the object on the ground, lay down, and reached in to rummage around until he pulled out a plump rabbit.
Shen Yanming held the rabbit by its ears, watching the little creature tremble, but he didn't soften. He tied the rabbit's four hooves with a rope and carried it back.
Two more hours passed before they returned to the base. As soon as he entered, Shen Yanming attracted everyone's attention.
Their mouths watered as they looked at the rabbit in his hand. A familiar face approached and greeted him, "Old Shen, you've gone hunting?"
Shen Yanming nodded: "Yes, the little one at home was craving something sweet, so I went out for a walk. I found a hole in the mountain, and when I dug around, I pulled out a rabbit."
The base's residents occasionally go hunting, so his behavior wasn't out of line. However, most of the time they returned empty-handed.
"You're quite lucky, unlike us. We've gone out several times and haven't gotten much loot."
Shen Yanming smiled and said, "I was just giving it a try. Who knew there would be something in that cave? I guess I got lucky."
"Okay, then you should go back now."
Shen Yanming said goodbye to someone and left. He wrote a note in his mind and threw it into the planting area, wanting to see if his wife had woken up yet.
Bi Qiaoan woke up about half an hour after Shen Yanming left. She glanced at the note, said nothing, and went to prepare breakfast.
I had just finished making the dumpling soup when the two little ones woke up. After washing them up, the three of us ate breakfast.
Then Bi Qiaoan used kindergarten textbooks to teach the two children, and the lesson lasted for an hour.
After that was playtime. The two little ones were building with blocks, while Bi Qiaoan leaned against the sofa, bored, and used her consciousness to tidy up the fields in the space.
Suddenly, she noticed a small note appearing from the transparent light screen. She caught it with her consciousness, smiled, picked up a pen, and replied, "Granted!"
After receiving his wife's reply, Shen Yanming felt much less pressured.
He carried the things to Song Wenwen's place in Zone C, knocked on the door, and handed her the bag: "My wife gave this to me."
Song Wenwen was at a loss, not expecting Shen Yanming to bring her something again.
Wei Liang was also there today. Hearing the man's voice outside the door, he turned around and asked, "May I ask who you are?"
Shen Yanming looked at Song Wenwen through her figure and said with a smile, "I am Bi Qiaoan's lover, Song Wenwen's college classmate. Today, I am here to deliver some food to her best friend at my wife's request."
Seeing that the other person's eyes were clear and honest, Wei Liang didn't think much of it. He smiled and thanked him, then gestured for Song Wenwen to invite the person in and offer him a glass of water.
Shen Yanming had no intention of getting to know the other person better, so he politely declined. But just then, Niu Niu came out from next door, and her eyes lit up the moment she saw Shen Yanming.
She clung to Shen Yanming's leg with her two dirty little paws and said in a spoiled tone, "Uncle Shen, you haven't come to see Niu Niu in so long."
When Shen Yanming saw her, he thought of his own Nuannuan, so his eyes were full of affection.
He ruffled her greasy, short hair that was almost touching her scalp and said with a smile, "Uncle is very busy with work. I can only come to see you when I have free time."
Niu Niu pouted, looking very unhappy. Shen Yanming pinched her little cheek, took out a few candies from his pocket, and held them out to her: "Uncle is making amends to you. I'll come see you more often, okay?"
Niu Niu nodded her little head, let go of Shen Yanming's leg, and sweetly said, "Okay!" Then she took the candy.
Hearing the two's familiar conversation, Wei Liang felt a sharp pain in his heart. He imagined tens of thousands of words of love and hate, and his gaze towards Shen Yanming was filled with a hidden hatred.
Shen Yanming sensed something and looked up at the other person, only to meet Wei Liang's still resentful gaze. Wei Liang flinched, then lowered his head, feeling both guilty and embarrassed.
Shen Yanming frowned, wondering what was wrong with this man.
Song Wenwen sensed Shen Yanming's sudden change in mood. She turned to look at Wei Liang, but found nothing. Wei Liang was also quite a character; his ability to control his emotions was top-notch.
Niu Niu, who is completely oblivious to the subtle nuances between adults, has already started eating candy, and the sweet taste seems to warm her heart.
She asked, her words slightly slurred, "Uncle Chen, will Aunt Qiao An come next time, along with my younger brother and sister? I miss them."
Upon hearing this, Wei Liang looked up abruptly and saw Shen Yanming nod without surprise, saying, "I'll bring them to see you when the weather gets warmer." Only then did Wei Liang breathe a sigh of relief, realizing that he had been overthinking things.
Wei Liang looked at Song Wenwen with guilt in his eyes. He thought to himself that she had it tough too. He had such a troublesome son, yet she still devoted herself wholeheartedly to this family. He shouldn't doubt her.
"You brat, what are you eating? Hand it over right now!" A familiar boy's voice interrupted Wei Liang's thoughts.
Shen Yanming looked up and saw a snotty-nosed boy rushing towards Niu Niu like a cannonball, about ten meters away. He was about to attack her.
Niu Niu was so frightened that she fell to the ground. Shen Yanming immediately grabbed the boy by the collar and did not budge him no matter how much he thrashed about.
"Who is this child? How can he be so ruthless?" he asked, frowning.
