Chapter 946 Going Bald

People around them chimed in, giving a general overview of the situation.

Han Limin was completely bewildered after hearing this. He was fearless, but he dreaded arguing with old women.

Both sides have their own reasons, and he's really worried!

"Um, Grandma..."

"Go to hell! I could never have given birth to a grandson as big as you. Humph, don't give me those nice words. Just tell me, is this snake mine?"

Han Limin: "..." He hadn't even said anything yet, and he'd already run into a tough nut to crack.

"Um, Auntie..."

“Calling me ‘Auntie’ won’t help. This is a call I made at the risk of my life. No one can change my mind. My husband and son work so hard every day, and I just want to give them some nourishment. What’s wrong with this world? Can’t we reason with each other? This old woman is getting on in years and she just knows how to be unreasonable.”

Han Limin was so worried he was going bald; he felt he couldn't handle the situation.

If the two sides really start fighting or something, he can just take them back and punish them according to the base's rules and regulations. But these days, civil disputes are so difficult to handle.

Han Limin squatted on the ground, trying to reason with them and presenting evidence, but the old lady and the auntie completely ignored him. Oh dear, how frustrating.

Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan noticed that he would scratch his head every now and then, and each time he took his hand down, two strands would come out with it. The couple were terrified, fearing that if he scratched his head a few more times, he would go bald.

The two exchanged a glance, both wanting to laugh. An'an and Nuannuan squinted and covered their mouths, finding it extremely amusing.

After waiting for another ten minutes or so, the couple was losing patience. Half the people around had also left, and they felt that watching others argue was less important than getting the grain harvested quickly.

Shen Yanming put An'an on the ground, gave Bi Qiao'an a wink, then pushed aside the people in front of him and squeezed in.

The old lady and the middle-aged woman looked at the newcomer with some puzzlement. Only Han Limin was somewhat excited.

"Captain Shen?" he said in a low voice.

Aside from Shen Yanming, no one else heard it. Bi Qiaoan, however, noticed that his lips moved slightly.

Shen Yanming didn't even look at him; he simply squatted down between the old lady and the woman. Amidst their questioning gazes, he suddenly flashed a gleaming dagger.

The old woman and the middle-aged woman were startled and nearly dropped the snake they were holding. Their voices trembled as they asked, "What...what do you want to do?"

Shen Yanming didn't say anything, but directly placed the dagger on the snake's belly. With a swift stroke, the snake was cleaved in two.

The bright red blood dripped onto the ground, startling the old lady and the auntie.

"Bro, bro, just tell me what you want, why are you scaring me?"

"Oh my God, you scared this old woman half to death! Oh no, you have to compensate this old woman for her emotional distress."

Shen Yanming remained silent, only brandishing the blood-stained dagger in the sunlight.

The cold glint of the blade silenced the two men, and those around them took a few steps back. Although they were somewhat frightened, their interest in the group only intensified.

The old lady was about to wail again, but Shen Yanming simply took a dagger and lightly slashed it in front of her eyes.

The old woman was so frightened that she trembled and cried out, "Young man, what exactly do you want to do?"

Shen Yanming: "I don't want to do anything, I just find it noisy. What, half a snake isn't enough for you?"

The old woman looked at her children and grandchildren, and seeing their refusal, she got up shakily, picked up half a snake, and walked away cursing.

Shen Yanming looked at the auntie, but before he could say anything, the auntie picked up the remaining half of the snake and said with a smile, "You don't need to chase me away, I'll leave now."

After saying that, he picked up the two white radishes on the ground: "This is the reward I deserve for my act of bravery."

"Put it down right now! You shameless bastard, you've already taken half my snake, and you still..."

"Mom, Mom, can we stop making a scene?"

"Grandma, Xiaoyu and I will catch a snake for you, don't be angry, okay?"

"Radish, my vegetable!"

"Oh my grandma, let's not talk about the food, okay? Just treat it as giving alms to a beggar."

The old woman's children and grandchildren immediately dragged her away from the scene, and the voices of the group grew softer and softer.

But the older woman still heard it. She spat and said, "Good people never get rewarded," and then left.

The crowd dispersed.

Han Limin pulled Shen Yanming aside and thanked him profusely: "Captain Shen, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what to do."

Shen Yanming smiled and said, "It's alright. I'm just using violence to fight violence, which is against the rules, so you can't follow my example."

Han Limin thought to himself, whatever the method, as long as it solves the problem, isn't that enough? If only he had known to scare them earlier...

Bah! Even if he had known all along, it wouldn't have mattered. His job is different from Captain Shen's. If he dared to threaten someone with a knife, he would definitely be fired from the team.

The two talked for a while before parting ways. Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan met up and went back to their own fields.

Do you remember who that person was?

"No, but I'm pretty sure it's someone we know. We probably only met once or twice, and it's been so long that we've forgotten."

Bi Qiaoan nodded: "Then, should we still go and ask?"

Shen Yanming thought for a moment, then shook his head: "Let's forget about it. If we're truly destined to meet, we'll find out her identity eventually."

The two didn't think much of it, thanked the old lady next door, picked up their two woven bags, and prepared to return to the base.

An'an and Nuannuan followed the couple obediently, chatting and laughing all the way, creating a very warm atmosphere.

However, just as I was about to reach the entrance of the base, I saw a familiar figure.

The other person hurriedly came out of the base, saw the aunt who had been arguing with someone earlier, and quickly stepped forward to take the bag and the half snake from the aunt's hand.

"Mom, I heard you had a fight with someone. How are you? Are you alright?"

"No, that old lady was incredibly unreasonable. I saved her, and she tried to keep my snake. That's shameless. Luckily, her family was reasonable enough that there wasn't a direct conflict. It's just that the guard was only good at muddying things up and didn't solve anything."

"Mom, you're really bold. Aren't you afraid they'll try to take advantage of you? Luckily they didn't, otherwise you would have been the one who suffered."

Next time something like this happens, let's reason with them if we can. If no one listens, we'll back down. At worst, come back and tell Dad and me, and we'll get revenge for you. The security team isn't just sitting around doing nothing; if there's a problem, they'll handle it for us.”

"Okay, okay, I got it. I just thought there were a lot of people around, so they wouldn't dare to do anything to me. Haha, son, look, Mom caught a snake for you. We can have meat tonight!"

"Yes, please don't take any more risks. My dad and I have enough salaries, and our family can still afford meat."

"I know, but that's money you and your dad worked so hard to earn, we can't just squander it."
