Shen Yanming was stunned. He lowered his voice and said to Li's father, "Wanwan's arrival was quite timely!"
Zhang Heping happened to overhear this. He glared at Lao Shen and thought to himself, "What a coincidence! It was clearly my arrangement."
Shen Yanming chuckled twice, guessing the hidden story, but he didn't dare to say it out loud.
"Are you done with your work?" Shen Yanming asked, pulling Zhang Heping to sit down beside him.
Zhang Heping shook his head: "How could that be! My colleague knew my wife was giving birth, so he came over specifically to take my place."
“Then you have a good friend!” Shen Yanming said.
"It's alright," Zhang Heping nodded.
The two chatted for a while, and then the delivery room door opened.
"Li Wanwan's family, do you have any food? The patient has no strength left."
The group panicked upon hearing this, because they hadn't prepared anything except for the maternity bag.
"I, I'll go back right away and cook noodles for my daughter," Li's mother said hurriedly.
"Hey, sit down, it's too late to go back now!" Mr. Li grabbed Mrs. Li and turned to look at Shen Yanming.
Shen Yanming smiled awkwardly: "The chicken soup won't be ready so quickly. I have a few milk candies in my pocket, is that alright?"
Upon hearing this, the nurse quickly nodded: "Sure, give it to me, I'll take it inside for the mother."
Shen Yanming put his hands in his pockets and took out seven or eight milk candies. He didn't dare take too many, afraid that someone would notice.
The nurse took it and went back to the delivery room. A group of people outside fell silent.
Taking advantage of the moment, Shen Yanming used his consciousness to write a small note and asked his wife, "How's the soup coming along?"
Upon receiving the note, Bi Qiaoan was filled with doubt and replied with just a few words: "How could it be so fast!"
After thinking for a moment, he asked again, "What happened?"
“Wanwan has no strength. The nurse came out and asked her just now,” Shen Yanming replied.
"How about we send her some things we have in our space?"
"It's better not to, it will arouse suspicion."
Bi Qiaoan nodded: "Okay then. If it really doesn't work, I'll make her some dumpling soup first, and then I'll send the chicken soup over when it's ready."
Shen Yanming thought for a moment and said, "Okay. You can add some spiritual spring water to the soup. Wanwan is quite good."
Bi Qiaoan almost laughed in anger after reading it. She thought to herself that while Wanwan was a bit petty, she wasn't incapable of distinguishing between right and wrong. Besides, Wanwan was much more sensible than her brother.
However, I didn't reply, afraid that if I delayed any longer, the other person's child would already be born.
Bi Qiaoan told An'an and Nuan Nuan, then took the two children into the space. Using modern gas equipment, a pot of fragrant dumpling soup was quickly prepared.
Bi Qiaoan asked An An and Nuan Nuan, "Are you two going to eat?"
The two kids nodded, smelling the delicious aroma: "Let's eat less!"
Bi Qiaoan smiled, served them both a bowl, and told them, "Let it cool down before you eat it." Then she put the rest into a thermos.
"Mom is going to deliver food to Aunt Wanwan. You two stay home and behave yourselves, okay?"
An'an nodded and patted her little chest: "Don't worry, Mom, I'll take good care of my little sister."
When Bi Qiaoan entered the space, she also brought in the chicken soup and put it on the stove to simmer. She said, "Just put the bowl on the coffee table after you finish eating. There's soup Mom made in the kitchen; it's dangerous."
"Okay, Mom," Nuannuan replied, then scooped up a spoonful of dumpling soup with a small spoon, blew on it to cool it down, swallowed it after it cooled, and happily squinted her eyes.
Seeing that there was nothing more to say, Bi Qiaoan left the space.
She hadn't changed her clothes in her haste. She'd worked up a sweat in the room, and when she came out into the cold air, she sneezed loudly without warning.
She wiped her nose, put on her down jacket, and went out. She quickened her pace and arrived at the hospital about half an hour later.
With Shen Yanming's instructions, they quickly found the entrance to the delivery room.
When Li's mother saw her, it was like seeing a savior. She grabbed her arm and asked, "Qiao An, is the chicken soup ready?"
Bi Qiaoan quickly said, "No. Chicken soup takes a while to cook. I was worried that Wanwan would be hungry, so I made her a bowl of dumpling soup first."
Li's mother's mood first plummeted, then immediately soared, clapping her hand and saying, "Okay, okay, thank you, Auntie."
Bi Qiaoan said nothing and handed the thermos to Li's mother.
Li's mother immediately knocked on the delivery room door. Only when the nurse who had just appeared opened the door did she excitedly say, "The food from home has arrived. Could you please ask if my daughter still wants some?"
"Okay!" the nurse agreed readily. Turning around, she looked at Li Wanwan, who nodded, and took the thermos from her.
Li Wanwan was covered in sweat in the delivery room. She felt weak and powerless, but she dared not give up.
The candy Shen Yanming gave her did give her a little boost, but it didn't really help. Hearing from the nurse that her family had brought food, she felt a bit hungry.
The nurse unscrewed the thermos, and the aroma of dumpling soup instantly filled the entire delivery room. The two women who weren't hungry before suddenly stopped crying out and looked at the thermos with longing eyes.
"Don't look at me, this was sent by the Li family," the nurse said shyly.
Li Wanwan also found the dumpling soup very delicious. She swallowed twice and drank a large bowl with the help of the nurse before saying, "There's not much left, let's share some with the two older sisters."
The two new mothers, one on each side, were overjoyed to hear this and thanked Li Wanwan profusely.
After the three sisters finished drinking the dumpling soup, their stomachs didn't hurt as much anymore. To save their energy, they stopped yelling.
Those outside couldn't hear anything and panicked. Some impatient ones went up and knocked on the door, asking, "What's wrong? Why aren't they calling from inside?"
"It's alright, I just ate and need a break. I'll focus my energy on having another baby later," the nurse said through the door.
After everyone learned what had happened, they were relieved. They paced back and forth at the door for more than half an hour, when they heard pig-like screams coming from the delivery room again.
The person outside shuddered and realized that the person inside wasn't wailing as pitifully as before. In fact, the person seemed to be full of strength.
Everyone was confused, except for Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan, who knew exactly what was going on.
Bi Qiaoan didn't wait there; after all, there was a pot of chicken soup simmering at home. She greeted the Li family and went back.
I didn't even bring the thermos, not wanting to delay the nurses from delivering the baby.
Shen Yanming didn't go back. He told her, "I'll take the thermos back after the others come out."
"Okay, I'll wait for you at home." He then left.
An hour after Bi Qiaoan left, Li Wanwan gave birth. The nurse brought out a five-pound, eight-ounce baby girl from the delivery room, which made Zhang Heping ecstatic.
But before he could finish his rant, another nurse came out of the delivery room: "Who are Liu Xinxin's family members? Your wife gave birth to a baby girl weighing five pounds and two ounces."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than another nurse came out and said, "Yan Xuan's family, your wife gave birth to a son weighing five pounds and six ounces."
People outside the delivery room were stunned: "This, one after the other!"
