Chapter 968 Fainted Again

A round of enthusiastic applause erupted from the audience. General Li slowly walked onto the stage and offered some words of encouragement.

Next, Li Sikai went up as well.

He walked up, his steps slow and unsteady. But you wouldn't notice unless you looked closely.

Li Sikai's smile was gentle, and his voice was like a soft breeze and gentle rain, nourishing everyone's hearts.

Shen Yanming and Bi Qiaoan stared intently at the screen, their eyes fixed on Li Sikai. They could see the fine beads of sweat on his forehead. He was pale and didn't look well.

"Could it be that our honey won't work either?" Bi Qiaoan asked anxiously, "That's half-mixed with spiritual honey!"

Shen Yanming frowned as well: "Maybe he didn't drink enough." Honey, after all, can't be drunk like water.

The couple were both in a bad mood.

Although they were outsiders, they had a good relationship and both had their own space. They felt a sense of mutual respect and couldn't bear to see Li Sikai get into trouble.

Li Sikai spoke on stage for a full five minutes.

His manuscript was short, but because of his poor health, he spoke each sentence very slowly.

Furthermore, to avoid revealing his frail health, he would pause after each sentence. It seemed as if he was waiting for applause, but in reality, he didn't want anyone to notice that he was panting heavily.

After finally finishing reading his script, Li Sikai slowly stepped off the stage. As soon as he left the filming area, his legs went weak, and he almost fell to the ground.

Qiu Man, who was waiting nearby, immediately helped him up. The others quickly pushed the wheelchair over and helped him sit down. Hu Yisheng also placed a cup of prepared honey water in his hand.

The scene was quiet. The host on stage seemed oblivious, smiling sweetly. But her smile didn't reach her eyes, and the couple could see worry in her gaze.

All the staff members knew the inside story and had signed an agreement. Everyone felt sorry for him, and at the same time, they admired Captain Li even more.

Qiu Man pushed him slowly to the mulberry tree, where Chief Alliance Officer Li was already waiting.

Seeing the large beads of sweat on his forehead, General Li gently wiped them away with a handkerchief.

"How are you? Are you alright?" General Li asked with concern.

Li Sikai nodded: "We can hold on."

General Li glanced at the singing and dancing on stage and said casually, "Shall I take you for a walk around?"

"Okay!" Li Sikai said weakly.

Qiu Man thought for a moment, then followed behind the two, but kept a certain distance between them.

The three of them walked and walked until they reached the lake. Seeing the lively fish in the water, their mood improved considerably.

But Li Sikai's face turned even paler. Li Zongmengguan knew without asking that this party had once again garnered him a huge amount of faith points.

"How about I ask Xiao Shen if he has anything else good?" General Li asked.

Li Sikai considered it, but still didn't want to cause trouble for Shen Yanming.

He wasn't sure what secrets the other person had, but he didn't want them to be trapped in this cage like he was, unable to be free.

So she smiled and declined, saying, "No need, we still have honey. I'll just drink more." She then took a sip of the honey water.

"But you can't drink too much, or you'll develop diabetes," said General Li, noticing that Li Sikai's complexion had returned to normal. "I don't know how Xiao Shen managed to make honey so effective. Sigh, if only there were other foods."

Li Sikai wanted to do that too, since he always felt much better after drinking honey water. But he...

Thinking of An'an's warm little face, I couldn't bear to force the couple.

"Alright, don't worry about it. I'll ask him later. I promise I won't force him, so don't worry."

Li Sikai nodded: "Thank you, Uncle!"

General Li smiled and patted him on the shoulder: "No need to thank me, you're my nephew. Besides, I'm the one who should thank you."

Li Sikai smiled and said, "There's no need for us uncle and nephew to thank each other like that."

Li Zongmengguan remained silent, gazing absently at the shimmering lake surface.

Qiu Man stood behind the two, wiping her eyes every now and then. It breaks my heart; Xiao Kai has really had it so tough.

The party went smoothly. The space didn't upgrade again until the very end. The survivors watching on television were somewhat disappointed, but the thought of the 100,000 mu of farmland made them happy.

"Looks like upgrading isn't so easy after all." Everyone thought to themselves, then chatted with those around them: "Hey, when do you think Captain Li's space will be upgraded? Will our benefits double after it's upgraded?"

"Who knows! If you want to try, you can contribute more faith points."

"I know, I think about it every day. I don't know who's holding us back, it's been a year and the space hasn't even doubled."

"Maybe it will happen soon."

The people inside the space were unaware of the public opinion outside. Li Sikai endured his headache and sent everyone out of the space one by one.

He, along with General Li and Qiu Man, stayed behind. As soon as they came out, Li Sikai collapsed, unable to hold on any longer.

"Xiao Kai, Xiao Kai?" General Li panicked, looking at the pale-faced man, and hurriedly shouted, "Quick, someone, take him to the hospital!"

The guards on duty quickly called a car, and within minutes the group arrived at the base hospital. Li Sikai was immediately taken to the emergency room, and the ward was surrounded by guards.

However, after a long examination, no problem could be found. The doctor shook his head and told General Li the truth: "All of his physical indicators are normal. We have not been able to find the cause of his fainting."

Li Zongmengguan waved his hand weakly, dismissing the others. He and Qiu Man stayed beside Li Sikai without saying a word.

After a long while, Qiu Man finally spoke: "Boss, you should rest for a bit. Xiao Kai probably fainted because of the space upgrade. Maybe he'll wake up in a couple of days."

General Li knew all too well. But he almost couldn't handle the last upgrade. He didn't know what would happen this time.

What if Xiao Kai dies while ascending? Or what if he wakes up and is mentally impaired?

Qiu Man couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she could only stay by his side. The two of them kept watch for a whole day and night, but Li Sikai didn't move.

When Qiu Man went to get his meal, he saw that the hospital cafeteria had sweet soup. He slapped his forehead and ran back.

"Boss, let's try feeding Xiao Kai some honey water!"

General Li's eyes widened. He... he... he had actually forgotten.

"Oh, hurry up and rush!" he said hastily, and went to find the honey.

"Uh, there isn't any outside. That half bottle is still in Xiao Kai's space. Don't worry, I'll go back to the office to get it." Qiu Man stuffed the lunchbox into General Li's hand: "You eat first, I'll be back after you're done."

General Li nodded: "Okay, I'll eat. You go quickly."

After saying that, he opened his lunchbox and started rummaging through it. He didn't feel anything when he wasn't eating, but once he started eating, he felt a sharp, unpleasant stomach cramp.

Qiu Man left only after seeing that he had started eating.
