Chapter 906 Watch Your Dog Life

The group pulled the fishing net to the shore, and the fish inside thrashed their tails powerfully, as if trying to break free of their restraints.

"Judging by appearances, there must be over a hundred, right?"

"It should be more than that, I feel two hundred is more like it."

"I don't think so. These fish are big, probably less than a hundred. But each one weighs three to five pounds. Come to think of it, we're rich! Hehehe!"

Shen Yanming felt the excitement of everyone and was also a little excited. These were all wild fish caught from the river, without any added water.

"Alright, let's do a quick count first, then we'll head down the mountain. It's getting late, and Old Qi is probably getting impatient."

Li Gangtie's words brought everyone back to their senses, and one by one they bent down and pulled the fish out of the net: "One, two, three..."

They were all large fish, weighing three to five pounds each, including catfish, snakehead, carp, and bass.

Anyway, Shen Yanming only recognized these few types; the rest were all oddly shaped.

Li Gangtie picked and chose, keeping only the good ones and throwing the bad ones back into the river.

However, invasive species are an exception; they are simply buried in snowdrifts and left to fend for themselves.

Bi Qiaoan in the space also counted along with everyone else, and she would be startled when she saw those fish that were particularly ugly or particularly fierce.

As Shen Yanming listened to the voice in his mind, his eyebrows twitched.

The corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up slightly, and others would only assume that he was delighted with today's harvest.

Ten minutes later, the count was completed.

Chang Anhui exclaimed, "My God, there are 132 of them! This trip was definitely worthwhile!"

Li Gangtie smiled and said, "Little Anhui is so clever, making sure we come back with a full load. Come on, put everything in the baskets and let's go down the mountain."

"Okay!" Chang Anhui was the first to respond. He picked up the lively fish from the ground and tossed it into his basket.

Shen Yanming also tried to handle it, but the fish were very slippery. Although there was no water for them to struggle with, Old Shen still accidentally got splashed with snow by the fish's tail.

With a dark expression, he brushed the snow off his clothes, then picked up the fish and stuffed them into his basket.

Then, not forgetting to retaliate, he scooped up the snow from the ground and covered the fish with it, thinking viciously, "Hurry up and freeze it." Otherwise, his jumping around would annoy him.

The others followed suit. Soon, the fish were in the basket.

It's quite strenuous for one person to carry a basket. Not because it's heavy, but because the fish are always jumping around. They can easily jump out.

Li Gangtie stayed at the very back, and whenever he saw someone's fish fall out, he would rush forward to pick it up and stuff it into his empty basket.

With a basket on his back and a bag in front of him, Shen Yanming walked with great difficulty. But both were important and he couldn't abandon them.

As he walked, he said to Bi Qiaoan, "I thought this basket was just for decoration, but I didn't expect it would actually come in handy in the end."

Bi Qiaoan nodded: "You guys were really lucky this time."

Otherwise, which team could gather so much prey in just one day?

I don't know if they were just lucky, or if the world outside has changed.

The group walked back the way they came, proceeding cautiously because of the snow on the road, and did not engage in conversation.

Passing by a tree, Li Gangtie untied the rope and let down two sheep. Passing by another tree, he did the same thing, but this time he let down a deer.

Everyone had a smile on their face because they had a very fruitful day.

Because Li Gangtie's basket was the lightest, he dragged one sheep by himself. The remaining sheep and deer were pulled by the guards, one hoof each. Because there was snow on the road, it wasn't too strenuous.

After walking for a while, and seeing that they were about to leave the forest, everyone relaxed. But unexpectedly, a "woof~" made them freeze on the spot.

"What's that sound? Could it be... a wolf?" Guo Tingshuo exclaimed in alarm.

After she finished speaking, there were two more cries: "Awoo awoo~~~"

"Quick, let's get out of here!" Li Gangtie stopped thinking about the wild boar hanging in the tree. He'd already gotten his money's worth today, so losing one wouldn't make a difference.

But things didn't go as planned, because the wolves were waiting on their only way down the mountain. To be precise, they were huddled under the tree where wild boars were hanging.

They were numerous, and they brought fish, deer, and sheep, making a lot of noise and emitting a strong odor, which successfully attracted the wolf pack.

In just over ten minutes, the group was surrounded by dozens of wolves.

The wolves' bright green eyes glowed eerily in the quiet night, and Shen Yanming could almost see their fierce baring of teeth and hear the dripping of saliva.

For the first time, Shen Yanming felt a growing dislike for his heightened senses. This was practically a psychological blow.

Li Gangtie panicked for a moment at the very beginning, but quickly regained his composure and shouted, "Enemy attack, prepare!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the group of guards ignored the sheep and fish, put the items on the ground, grabbed their weapons, and formed a circle back to back. Except for the bewildered Shen Yanming and Ji Kangyong, the two were protected in the middle.

Bi Qiaoan witnessed this turn of events in her spatial dimension, and her heart clenched with shock. She stared intently outside, not even responding to An'an and Nuan Nuan calling her.

The alpha wolf elegantly surveyed the group, watching them take up weapons to resist, and even rolled its eyes disdainfully. It thought to itself, "Another bunch of fools, thinking those little gadgets can really harm their fierce wolf pack?"

Perhaps it's because they've eaten too many people; the wolf king is no longer afraid of these humans. Or perhaps, it never was. After all, without weapons, humans are no match for these animals in combat.

Adhering to the strategy of "if the enemy doesn't move, we don't move," the group remained calm despite the menacing presence of the wolves.

Li Gangtie even hoped that the wolf king would retreat on its own, considering their superior numbers. They could then consider the wild boar as compensation for it.

But the wolf king clearly didn't understand Li Gangtie's meaning. After waiting for a while, it got bored and yawned. Then, at a command, it launched an attack.

Li Gangtie blinked, drew his gun instantly, and with a "thud," the alpha wolf fell to the ground.

The wolf king never understood why it had died before, having eaten so many people without incident, but had died before it could even lay a hand on anyone.

The other wolves were momentarily stunned by the sound, but only for two seconds before resuming their attack.

"Damn, Captain, you brought a gun? Why didn't you make a move sooner?" Chang Anhui complained as he brandished his sickle in retaliation.

Li Gangtie didn't want this either; he had limited ammunition and had to use it sparingly.

Besides, there were too many wolves, so they hadn't originally planned to confront them directly. Once they did, they thought it best to avoid a fight if possible. But the wolves were determined to devour them, and they couldn't just sit and wait to be eaten.

"Stop babbling and prepare to fight back, or you'll lose your life!"

Li Gangtie aimed his gun at another wolf, and with a "thud," another wolf fell down.
