Shen Yanming suspected that An'an had gone home, and the two had just missed each other, so his first stop was home to check if the child had returned. However, the house was empty, with no trace of anyone having been there.
He froze, a bad feeling creeping into his heart. He went straight to the building and found Miao Ruzong's address. When he arrived, he found the door tightly shut.
When Shen Yanming couldn't get the door open, he asked the neighbors if the children in that house had come back.
The neighbor said, "He came back for a bit, then went out again."
Shen Yanming asked nervously, "One person or two people?"
"Two of them, a really handsome boy brought Xiaomiao back. I had just come out to use the restroom when I heard Xiaomiao say that his eyes hurt and that he wanted to go find his dad. The boy was worried about him going alone, so he went with him."
"Do you know where the child's father works?"
“In…” the neighbor thought for a moment and pointed in a direction.
After thanking him, Shen Yanming transformed into a gust of wind and ran towards that place.
They ran into a familiar guard on the way, and even called out to two of them to go with him to look for it.
The guards all felt that Old Shen was spoiling the child too much. Although it wasn't safe outside, An'an was already a tall young man of over 1.6 meters, and keeping him tied up with him all the time was just too much.
The group moved quickly, and just as they were about to reach the edge of the base, they heard a shrill scream.
Shen Yanming's face turned deathly pale as he ran towards the sound of the shouts. The guard's heart skipped a beat, wondering if something had really happened.
However, upon arriving, they discovered that Miao Ruzong was lying on the ground in agony, half of his face and body scalded by the heat. An'an stood to the side, her face serious, cold sweat dripping from her forehead.
Shen Yanming went up to call his son, but An'an seemed frightened and hid away.
When she realized that the person patting her shoulder was Shen Yanming, she could no longer hold back and cried in grievance. However, the tears stung her wound as they streamed down her face.
"What happened?" Shen Yanming was extremely distressed, but he still deftly took out spiritual spring water, medicine, and ice packs from his bag to treat An'an's wounds.
An'an immediately took off half of her clothes and said, "My right hand and right arm were burned by the heat, and so was my face."
Shen Yanming hummed in agreement.
An'an continued, "His eyes hurt, and he said he couldn't see clearly. He wanted to ask his dad to come back and take care of him. I didn't think it was a big deal, so I agreed. But his dad wasn't there; I didn't know where he was. I looked for him for a while but couldn't find him, so I took him back."
We encountered a burst of heat on the road. I sensed the danger in advance and pulled him aside, but to my surprise, he tripped me.
I froze for a moment, almost falling. Recovering quickly, I shifted my weight, and our positions reversed. Miao Ruzong was hit squarely by the heat, but he held on tightly, causing me to get injured as well.
An'an's voice wasn't low, so much so that the two guards who came with her heard it. They had initially felt sorry for Miao Ruzong, feeling a pang of sympathy. But who knew that this was actually someone who wanted to harm others?
So he lost his sense of proportion and even used a little force to support Miao Ruzong's hand.
"Ahhh, ouch!" Miao Ruzong cried out, turning to look at Shen Yanming, hoping he would also treat his wounds. This burn on half his body was far more painful than the pebble cut to his left eye!
Shen Yanming didn't even look at him, but said to An'an, "Some people are not worthy of your kindness. You should keep your eyes open when making friends in the future. It's better to get rid of this kind of ingrate as soon as possible."
The two guards agreed, but it wasn't convenient for them to say it aloud. So, even though they knew Shen Yanming had medicine for his injuries, they didn't ask him for help.
The two asked, "What do you plan to do with this person?"
Bringing it back to the hospital would be a waste of resources, but not bringing it back would be against regulations. It's a real dilemma.
Shen Yanming smirked: "Follow the normal procedure." He wouldn't give him medicine or spiritual spring water, just a few ice packs from the guards. Ha, bear with it, it'll hurt like hell!
Miao Ruzong was unaware of the underlying differences and simply assumed that Shen Yanming had let him go. He breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he would survive, unaware that regret was yet to come.
After Shen Yanming had dealt with An'an for a while, he went over to ask Miao Ruzong, "Why did you trip An'an?"
Miao Ruzong's eyes flickered, and he said through gritted teeth, "I didn't trip him, he tripped me."
"If that's really the case, why didn't you refute it when An'an made her statement at the beginning?"
"I... I was in so much pain, I... I didn't react."
"Ha, your eyes betrayed you!" Shen Yanming smiled sinisterly: "Miao, An'an saved your life. Are you going to harm him just because you're jealous?"
Miao Ruzong's face was grim, and he lowered his eyelids without saying a word. Shen Yanming didn't expect him to say anything either, so he got up, put his arm around his son, and left.
Perhaps it was this nonchalant attitude that provoked him, because Miao Ruzong couldn't help but shout, "Why am I injured but he isn't? If that's the case, then he can be just like me."
"A madman!" the two guards thought to themselves, but they still carried him up and followed behind.
He didn't say a word the whole way, because he really couldn't stand the guy in front of him. When they finally arrived at the hospital, he just dumped him at the entrance and left him there.
The doctors and nurses passing by were stunned, because they had never seen a security guard with such a terrible attitude.
Just as he was about to reprimand him, he was pulled aside. The two guards hadn't hidden the fact that Miao Ruzong had harmed An'an, and the doctors and nurses were shocked when they heard this. They thought to themselves, "This young man is good-looking, but his heart is truly black!"
The news spread rapidly throughout the hospital and even beyond. Many people had received favors from the Shen family and secretly wanted to avenge An'an.
The doctors at the hospital didn't take Miao Ruzong's injuries very seriously. As a result, while others could be discharged in a week or two, he dragged his feet, suffered repeated infections, and was not discharged until two months later.
Even after being discharged from the hospital, he still had to accept punishment from the base, and his later life was extremely miserable.
Meanwhile, Shen Yanming took An'an back to the ward.
Bi Qiaoan was heartbroken to see the child covered in injuries. However, she was relieved that the child's life was not in danger.
Seeing that An'an's wounds had been treated, she asked with concern, "Does it hurt?"
An'an, pale-faced, endured the pain and said, "It's alright, Mom, I can handle it. Dad arrived just in time, so I didn't suffer too much."
Bi Qiaoan nodded, having learned the whole story, and was so angry she wanted to tear that man surnamed Miao to pieces. But Shen Yanming stopped her: "Don't worry, that child won't get away with this." How could he let him off so easily? He had already secretly taken action.
Bi Qiaoan nodded and told An'an to sit down on the stool and rest.
An'an didn't refuse her mother's kindness, and turned to look at Nuannuan with remorse, saying, "Sister, I'm sorry. I, I..."
"Alright, bro, stop talking. You're not wrong, the other person is."
Qi Lin looked at An An and, seeing that he was injured but remained silent, felt a bit of respect for him. "You're not bad, but your judgment isn't very good."
