Chapter 117 Eating Shrimp

"Okay, okay, let's eat," Du Moliang hugged Zong Yi and coaxed him to the table.

Han Chen washed his hands, brought out the rice cooker from the kitchen, and served rice to the few people.

Zong Zheng specially brought Zong Yi's special tableware for eating from home.

Three grown men and a little boy sat around the table and started eating.

Zong Yi was sharp-eyed and saw shrimps in the basin. He pointed at the basin and said, "Shrimps, I want to eat them."

Zong Zheng picked up a few pieces of vegetables with his chopsticks and put them on Zong Yi's small plate. "Eat the vegetables first."

Du Moliang said: "Let him eat a few bites, it's okay."

Zong Zheng glared at him, "You said everything was fine, but your sister came back and said something was wrong?"

Du Moliang immediately shut up and remained silent.

"This brat has been very picky about food these days and won't eat a single bite of vegetables," Zong Zheng said with hatred.

"I have a solution," Han Chen suddenly said.

Zong Zheng and Du Moliang suddenly looked at him.

Han Chen went to the bathroom to wash his hands again, picked a few large shrimps, peeled the shells lightly, and peeled three or five in a row.

"Be careful, it might prick your hands," Du Moliang warned.

Hands are precious to surgeons.

Shrimp shells are very hard and can prick your hands.

"Come here," Han Chen waved to Zong Yi.

Zong Yi had short legs and wanted to go down but couldn't reach the ground, so Du Moliang next to him carried him down.

Han Chen went into the kitchen and Zong Yi followed him into the kitchen.

"Look," Han Chen cut the shrimp into very small pieces and then mixed the vegetables in.

Zong Yi looked up at Han Chen and asked, "Uncle, why do you want to chop the shrimp?"

Han Chen: "Children eat small pieces, and adults eat large pieces."

Zong Yi nodded foolishly, "When I grow up, I can eat big ones."

"Yes," Han Chen said, picking up a small piece of shrimp and placing it in front of Zong Yi, "Open your mouth."

Zong Yi opened his mouth obediently, and Han Chen fed him a piece of shrimp. "Is it delicious?"

"Delicious," Zong Yi chewed it with a slurp.

"Do you know why it tastes so good?" Han Chen asked.

Zong Yi shook his head.

“Because it tastes better when eaten with the vegetables inside.”

Zong Yi asked, "Why didn't the adults eat with the food?"

Han Chen: "Who said no? We took the initiative to eat the food. Go and see your uncle, is he eating it with big mouthfuls?"

Zong Yi ran to the restaurant with his legs stretched out. Du Moliang cooperated by picking up a large piece of vegetables and swallowing it in one gulp.

"Uncle, I want to eat too," Zong Yi turned around.

Han Chen placed the chopped shrimp mixed with vegetables on Zong Yi's seat.

Zong Zheng stood up, picked up the dish of mixture without any courtesy, poured it directly into Zong Yi's bowl, and stirred it.

Zong Yi looked bewildered.

Zong Zheng said, "It tastes better if you eat it with rice."

Du Moliang and Han Chen couldn't help laughing.

Zong Yi nodded stupidly, climbed onto the chair, picked up the chopsticks and started digging into the rice.

Anyway, there are shrimps in the bowl, so eating everything in the bowl is equivalent to eating shrimps.

Zong Yi didn't care either.

In the living room, the TV was still on. Du Moliang had tuned it to the cartoon channel. When Zong Yi had just finished a bowl of rice, the theme song of Zong Yi's favorite cartoon began playing on TV.

Zong Yi finished the last few bites in a few gulps, wiped his mouth casually, and shouted that he wanted to go downstairs to watch cartoons.

Du Moliang had no choice but to carry him off the table. He pinched Zong Yi's nose and threatened, "Just watch the cartoons and don't act naughty. This isn't your home. If you break anything here, your parents will have to pay me back."

Zong Yi glanced at Zong Zheng quietly.

"Why are you looking at me?" Zong Zheng said, "I don't care about you."

Zong Yi pursed his lips.

Du Moliang carried Zong Yi to the living room and placed him on the sofa. "Alright, your dad has a sharp tongue. It's been so many years, you should be used to it."

Zong Yi didn't understand what "sharp tongue" meant, so he kept pouting, raised his small eyes slightly, and looked in Zong Yi's direction from time to time.

"Watch your cartoons," Du Moliang handed the remote control to Zong Yi. This was Zong Yi's habit, although he didn't know how to use it.

Zong Yi was quite obedient. As soon as the cartoon started, he was completely immersed in it.

Du Moliang watched with him for a few seconds and found it boring, but when he saw that Zong Yi's mood had stabilized and his eyes were fixed on them, he walked to the dining table and continued to eat with the two of them.

"Is there any wine?" Zong Zheng suddenly asked.

"Yes," Du Moliang just took a bite of the food and stood up to get a bottle of red wine from the kitchen cabinet.

Zong Zheng frowned, "Beer."

"No," Du Moliang said.

"I'll get it," Zong Zheng stood up.

Du Moliang said, "If you want to drink, you can drink. Han Chen and I can't drink."

Zong Zheng glanced at the two of them and said, "Spoiling the fun."

Zong Yi was very bright. Seeing Zong Zheng was going home to get something, Zong Yi said, "Dad, I want to drink strawberry milk."

The strawberry milk that Zong Yi mentioned is a children's drink with strawberry flavor and various vitamins added.

"Wait," Zong Zheng said and went home.

Du Moliang smiled and said, "You are quite smart. You even know how to order your father around."

Zong Yi chuckled twice and continued watching the cartoon.

Du Moliang turned around and saw Han Chen eating slowly. He peeled off the shrimp shells almost completely and stacked them neatly on the plate.

He couldn't help but frown, "Your eating habits are very similar to my senior brother."

"You mean Mr. Lu?"

"Well," Du Moliang said, "You two are quite unusual in surgery. Which surgeon doesn't wolf down their food? If we all ate like you, we would have starved to death long ago. You guys are always skipping meals, and you might damage your stomachs. My senior brother is like that, and he still has to take medicine all the time."

Looking at Han Chen, Du Moliang asked, "What about you? Your stomach isn't feeling well, is it?"

"It's okay," Han Chen said, "I can't handle spicy food anymore."

"You still like spicy food?" Du Moliang picked up a bunch of green vegetables and handed it to Han Chen. "You should also pay attention. My senior brother's stomach was damaged when he was promoted to associate chief physician. You are also preparing to be promoted to associate chief physician now, so you should pay more attention."

"Um."

Han Chen suddenly felt a warm current in his heart for Du Moliang's unintentional kindness and care.

He used to be used to being alone, doing everything by himself, issuing patents by himself, writing papers by himself, never asking others to take care of the patients he needed, and living his life alone.

He always felt that life is loneliness, that you are just keeping yourself company, and there is nothing wrong with being alone.

until……

After the promotion to attending physician at the Imperial Capital Mingde General Hospital, all the flowers and applause came together. The department held a small ceremony and colleagues congratulated the newly promoted people.

When it was their turn to give their outlook on the future.

Others all said that they hoped to have a healthy and lovely baby with their loved ones in the new year, or to settle down in the capital, or that their children could go to school smoothly.

Han Chen had already thought of the answer in his mind. He wanted to be promoted to chief physician in the shortest time possible and break the orthopedic record.

But after listening to his colleagues' comments, he fell silent.

Others live a life, but he just exists.

That time, Han Chen did not speak.
