"..." Zhou Mo was speechless, "Can you please be more self-aware? This is my home."
"You went to my house yesterday," Han Chen retorted, "It's only right to reciprocate."
"You have nothing in your hands, and this counts as reciprocity?" How could he be so shameless.
Han Chen stared at her bright and beautiful face, thought for a moment, then retracted his gaze, took out his wallet from his pocket, took out two cards, turned over Zhou Mo's hand, and put the two cards into Zhou Mo's palm.
"I won't tease you this time. I'll give it all to you."
"I don't want it!" Zhou Mo pretended to return the card.
Han Chen, however, stood with his hands behind his back and refused to take it.
"Don't you want 'ritual'? This 'ritual' is not enough?"
Zhou Mo raised his eyes and glared at him, "Is it okay if I don't want it?"
"Take it."
"don't want!"
Han Chen had no choice but to pull Zhou Mo in, stepped over Zhou Mo and closed the door.
Zhou Mo's heart tightened. She was sandwiched between Han Chen and the door. The space was so small that she suddenly couldn't breathe.
Han Chen looked down at her, then glanced at the card in Zhou Mo's hand, "I'm sorry."
Zhou Mo's heart trembled, and his voice softened. "Why apologize?"
"You're saying 'maintain the status quo' for me. That's ridiculous, because not only can you not do it, I can't do it either." He lowered his eyes with a hurt look, "Let's... give it a try."
Zhou Mo's heart seemed to be suddenly grabbed, and then he was hit hard and softly by someone.
But she still looked at Han Chen suspiciously, "What do you mean by 'try'?"
"Get along normally."
Han Chen was concise and to the point.
Zhou Mo was impatient, "Speak more carefully."
Han Chen said in embarrassment: "I don't know either. I don't have any requirements for you, you can do whatever you want. I just don't want to quarrel with you, and I don't want you to be upset with me. That feeling is not good."
Zhou Mo couldn't understand what Han Chen meant for a moment.
"I understand you said you didn't want to argue with me, but what did you mean when you said 'I can do whatever I want'?"
Han Chen turned his face away and said, "As long as you want, you can do anything you want. I will accept it."
Zhou Mo asked tentatively, "Going to nightclubs and cheating on your partner is also okay?"
Han Chen was stunned and speechless for a moment.
Zhou Mo sneered, "If you can't do it, don't make such a broad promise. It makes you look so generous and unreasonable."
"That's not what I meant."
Zhou Mo chuckled, "I think that's what you mean."
Han Chen was silent.
Zhou Mo lowered her eyes and saw that Han Chen was still wearing leather shoes. She bent down and took out a pair of slippers and threw them in front of Han Chen, "Change your shoes."
Han Chen turned around and sat on the sofa beside him, picked up his slippers and put them on.
Seeing how obedient he was, Zhou Mo couldn't help but chuckle.
Han Chen heard her laugh and looked up at her smiling face, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Zhou Mo shook his head helplessly, "I was wondering why you are sometimes so obedient and sometimes so hateful."
Han Chen didn't answer, but obediently put his shoes back into the shoe cabinet and placed them next to Zhou Mo's pair of sneakers that were rubbing his feet.
Zhou Mo placed the card on the cabinet in the entrance hall and said, "Put your things here and take them away."
Then he went to the kitchen.
Han Chen glanced at the card on the cabinet and followed Zhou Mo into the kitchen.
Zhou Mo was washing her hands at the sink. Seeing Han Chen at the kitchen door, she asked, "Anything to say?"
Han Chen walked up to her, stood shoulder to shoulder with her, put his hand under the faucet and washed his hands with her.
"What are you doing?" Zhou Mo asked.
Han Chen said, "I'll help you cook."
"No, just cook some noodles, it will be ready soon."
"Let me help you," he quickly finished washing, took a paper towel to dry his hands, and stood in front of the pot.
Zhou Mo was just about to say that no matter how attentive he was, it would be useless, as she would not pity him and give him food.
Then Han Chen's stomach rumbled twice.
Zhou Mo felt embarrassed for him. She pushed Han Chen aside and stood in front of the pot. "The bowls are down there. Take two out."
Han Chen bent down and took two bowls and placed them on the stove.
Zhou Mo divided the noodles into two small portions and filled two bowls.
"There are some pickled vegetables my mother made in the refrigerator..." Zhou Mo didn't finish his words.
"I'll get it." Han Chen turned and walked out.
Zhou Mo brought two bowls of noodles to the table.
Han Chen entered the kitchen carrying two large jars. "Aunt Liu still likes to make these after all these years?"
"Yeah," Zhou Mo pulled out clean plates and chopsticks from the cabinet.
Han Chen cooperated by unscrewing the lid of the jar, holding the jar and tilting the mouth to make it easier for Zhou Mo to pick up the food.
Two cans of side dishes, one is pickled radish strips, the other is mixed vegetables, one is sweet and sour, the other is slightly spicy.
"Which one do you want to eat? I'll grab more." Zhou Mo asked.
Han Chen: "Anything is fine."
Zhou Mo laughed and scolded: "You are not picky."
She picked a little of each and took up a small half plate.
Han Chen screwed the lid of the jar on tightly and put the jar back into the refrigerator.
Zhou Mo took another pair of chopsticks, placed the side dishes on the dining table, then turned around and went back to the kitchen.
Han Chen saw it and asked, "What else do you want to do?"
Zhou Mo: "Cook some more noodles."
She only cooked one portion, which was too little and not enough for them.
Zhou Mo set up the pot to boil water again, "You go eat first."
Han Chen turned and went to the restaurant.
When Zhou Mo finished her work and came out of the kitchen, she saw Han Chen sitting upright without touching his chopsticks.
"Eat," she said.
"Waiting for you."
Zhou Mo smiled. She had no way to deal with Han Chen. He always moved her with such small things and made her feel respected.
After sitting down, she said, "Didn't I tell you not to contact me today? Why are you still texting me?"
Han Chen: "You said not to call you, but you didn't say not to let me text you."
Zhou Mo was humiliated for a moment, but he was smart and knew how to take advantage of the opportunity.
"Well, eat quickly, and go back quickly after eating."
Han Chen paused while picking up the noodles. "I'll go back, but not soon."
This time it was Zhou Mo's turn to be stunned.
Han Chen added, "Unless you accept the card, if you do, I will leave your house immediately."
Zhou Mo put down his chopsticks and looked directly at him: "Why do you have to give me a card?"
Han Chen sat up straight, "Hasn't your mother always been in charge of your family's finances?"
Zhou Mo was completely shocked and his heart skipped a beat.
"Your idea is very dangerous."
"...How do you mean?"
Zhou Mo explained: "My parents are a model couple, most people can't learn from them."
Han Chen: "How do you know if you don't try?"
"You won't know without trying."
"We haven't tried it yet."
Zhou Mo rolled his eyes. "My parents have a real bond. They went to the countryside together, endured hardships along the way, and supported each other through it all. We can't even overcome a simple geographical problem, let alone hardships."
Han Chen lowered his head. Of course he knew what Zhou Mo was talking about.
"So, this is the real reason why you broke up?"
Zhou Mo panicked for a moment, "I've already said that the situation was complicated. You had to take the college entrance exam, study, and you had to go back to the capital. There were all kinds of reasons."
"I won't go back." Han Chen said suddenly.
