Chapter 24: Is Han Chen paying the bill?

"There's really nothing between him and me." Zhou Mo still refused to admit it.

"Nothing is the best," Liu Xiangru said without further ado, patting Zhou Mo's shoulder, "Hurry up and clean up."

"What?" Zhou Mo turned over vigilantly.

"Don't worry, I'm not asking you to go on a blind date," Liu Xiangru said, "Your Aunt Liang said that our two families haven't seen each other for a long time, so we should go out for dinner tonight and get together."

"Han Chen is going too?" Zhou Mo was surprised and raised his voice a beat.

"Of course we're going. We're two families, so how could we not ask Han Chen to come along? Hurry up and pack up."

Zhou Mo was stunned for a moment, then fell exhausted on the bed, like a boneless fish.

After a while, Zhou Mo reluctantly accepted the fact that he had to meet Han Chen again and that both sets of parents were present.

At Liu Xiangru's urging, Zhou Mo changed into an early spring doll-collared shirt, a white denim jacket on the outside, and black tight jeans on the bottom. The elastic fabric outlined her legs, making them look slender and long.

Zhou Mo doesn't like to tie her hair up, not only because it hurts her scalp and makes her uncomfortable, but also because every time she takes off the hair tie, she always accidentally pulls out a few innocent hairs.

She felt distressed.

So she often used a snake-shaped hairpin to tie her long hair into a bun and secure it.

However, this method of fixing does not last long and the hair will easily fall apart.

So she switched to a metal-framed shark clip and simply pulled her hair loosely back to secure it.

Zhou Zheng went out to refuel his car. He had not been to work for a long time, and the family car was out of gas.

Originally, Zhou Zheng said that he would no longer drive the car and would let Zhou Mo drive it.

Zhou Mo was very happy to have a car, but he found out that the fuel cost one dollar per kilometer, plus car insurance and repairs, it was not as cost-effective as taking a taxi. Zhou Mo didn't want to drive the car anymore.

The place to eat is "Zhulu Zhongyuan".

The mother and daughter packed up and waited for Zhou Zheng at the gate of the community.

After a while, Zhou Zheng arrived by car.

The mother and daughter got in the car.

As stingy as Zhou Mo is, she couldn't help but complain: "This round trip, the gas cost is dozens of dollars."

"It's just for transportation, we don't drive it every day," Liu Xiangru said. "Your Aunt Liang originally wanted Han Chen to pick us up, but Han Chen has a late shift and probably won't be back until eight."

Zhou Zheng also said, "We've been friends and neighbors for years. We've only just had a meal together, so why would you be so fussy about it? You and Han Chen were classmates. You used to cause us so much trouble together. How can you be so critical of a friend?"

Zhou Mo was most afraid of mentioning what happened that year, so he chose to keep silent.

It was only seven o'clock when the family arrived at "Zhu Lu Zhongyuan".

Liang Xinyun had arrived early.

The waiter at the door took Zhou Zheng's keys and went to park the car.

Liang Xinyu came forward and shook hands enthusiastically with Liu Xiangru and Zhou Zheng one by one, appearing inexplicably formal.

Of course, he did not forget to show some concern for Zhou Mo.

"I've been waiting so long for you to finally come back," Liu Xiangru said, "When will the house be ready? Move in quickly. If you need any help, just let me know."

"It will be ready soon. It's not a big renovation. I just repainted it and changed the furniture."

"That's fast, it looks like we'll be next-door neighbors again in no time."

Liu Xiangru enthusiastically pulled Liang Xinyun.

Led by Liang Xinyun, the group entered the box.

Zhou Mo followed at the back. Liang Xinyu would look back and glance at Zhou Mo secretly from time to time, which made her feel creepy.

That inquiring and gratified look really made Zhou Mo feel uncomfortable.

Thinking back to the last time at Han Chen's house, when he accidentally dropped his BYT and was seen by Liang Xinyun, coupled with Han Chen's exaggerated rescue... Zhou Mo roughly guessed that Liang Xinyun must have misunderstood something.

Coincidentally, the box was the one where I met Liang Dongyan last time.

Zhou Mo always felt that God was playing tricks on her.

He stood at the door of the private room and was reluctant to go in.

Liang Xinyun asked: "What's wrong? Don't you like this one? How about we change to another one?"

"No need to trouble you, Aunt Liang," Zhou Mo quickly calmed down and stepped into the private room.

Several people sat down.

Liang Xinyun flipped open the menu and said, "I've never been here before. This is the place Han Chen chose. You can order whatever you like."

Liu Xiangru and Zhou Zheng sat side by side and opened the menu together. The eye-catching prices next to the exquisite dishes made them gasp.

The two looked at each other in tacit understanding, and Liu Xiangru said, "Xin Yun, come on, we can't order this dish."

"It's okay, order whatever you want." Liang Xinyun's eyes fell on Zhou Mo again, "Momo, how about you come? We are the kind of people who don't often go out to eat. You young people have a lot of ideas, so you come."

Zhou Mo glanced at Liang Xinyun, then at his parents, who both seemed to be in trouble because of ordering food.

Zhou Mo flipped through the menu casually and asked, "Is Han Chen paying?"

Liang Xinyun smiled and said, "Of course it's him. Who else could it be if not him?"

"That'll do," Zhou Mo suddenly had an idea.

After calling the waiter in, Zhou Mojing picked out the expensive dishes on the menu, which surprised the waiter.

Liang Xinyun next to him had a very satisfied look on her face. The more expensive the order, the happier she was.

After Zhou Mo finished ordering, he asked Liang Xinyun if she wanted to order anything else. Liang Xinyun shook her head and looked at Zhou Mo with a smile. She said, "It seems you like it here. Han Chen still understands you."

Zhou Mo was confused at first, then looked bewildered and discouraged.

The misunderstanding seemed to have deepened again.

Liu Xiangru heard the hidden meaning in Liang Xinyun's words. She asked curiously, "What's going on? Han Chen and our Momo..."

"Nothing's wrong, don't think too much." Zhou Mo interrupted awkwardly.

Liang Xinyun was surprised, but seeing Zhou Mo's flushed face and nervous expression, and the fact that the two children were doing it secretly at school at the time and did not announce it to anyone, Liang Xinyun just thought that Zhou Mo was the same as before, and was too shy to admit it.

Zhou Mo suddenly regretted coming out with the two parents.

Liang Xinyun kindly stepped in to help, "Momo and our Han Chen have met several times. Some time ago, Han Chen even invited Momo to visit him at his newly purchased house, and I was there at the time. The two of them are still the same as before. Although we haven't seen each other for many years, we are still good friends."

"You have met Han Chen? Why didn't you tell us?" Liu Xiangru was surprised and happy.

Zhou Mo just felt cold sweat running down his face.

Her and Han Chen's current situation is not at all what Liang Xinyun called "old friends", but more like "enemies".

"By the way, Han Chen is a doctor now, right? When did he come to Dongjiang? Which hospital is he in?" Liu Xiangru asked Liang Xinyun again.

"I just came back a few months ago and work in the orthopedics department of the First Hospital of Southeast University," Liang Xinyun replied.

"Orthopedics Department of the First Hospital of Dongda University?" Zhou Zheng exclaimed. "That's a long-established and strong department of the First Hospital of Dongda University, and it's ranked nationwide."
