Chapter 5: Men are not as good as money

"Testing your bottom line."

"What's the meaning?"

"You still have to accompany me to meet my mother later. There's still a lot of time to go, and I don't want us to get divorced by then."

Zhou Mo felt a chill in his heart, and understood what Han Chen meant.

"Are you trying to test my tolerance for this marriage?"

"Yes. If you're unhappy and want to end this relationship, I want it before you meet my mother."

Zhou Mo placed his hands on his legs, clenched his fists, and stared at Han Chen with a sharp gaze.

"Then I choose to divorce now."

Han Chen's eyes darkened. "Have you thought about it?"

"I've thought it through."

"Are you not afraid that your parents will know what business you have done with others?"

Zhou Mo gritted his teeth, then raised his head and responded, "Don't be afraid, just go ahead and tell me. The worst that can happen is you'll be kicked out of the house."

Han Chen's eyelids drooped slightly. "When to go through the divorce procedures? You decide the time."

Zhou Mo was slightly stunned.

He actually agreed so quickly?

"My parents' side, you..."

"We no longer have any relationship after the divorce. You are a stranger to me. There is no need for me to cause trouble for a stranger."

Zhou Mo's heart inexplicably tightened. This was obviously the result she wanted most, but after hearing Han Chen's words, some inappropriate emotions seemed to accumulate in her chest.

Han Chen stood up, his voice still cold, "For you?"

Zhou Mo nodded.

Han Chen took Zhou Mo to the elevator at the end of the corridor. This elevator led directly to Exit C of the underground parking lot. There was a bus stop right outside, so there was no need to walk far.

He raised his hand to help Zhou Mo press the elevator button. The two stood in front of each other without saying a word.

The elevator arrived quickly, and Zhou Mo felt relieved and walked in immediately.

In order to calm down, she was also prepared to greet Han Chen calmly and friendly, and just raised her hand to say "goodbye".

Han Chen kept pressing the "up" button outside the elevator. His dark eyes surged as he stared directly at Zhou Mo and asked, "What was the reason for this breakup? It can't be mysophobia again, right?"

"What?" Zhou Mo didn't react.

"It's okay," Han Chen lowered his eyes, "reflect on yourself."

Han Chen released the elevator button and the elevator door slowly closed.

Zhou Mo was confused by Han Chen's contradictory actions.

People are indeed constantly growing. Han Chen, who used to be like a single cell, has now become so difficult to understand.

But Han Chen mentioned the reason for their previous breakup...

Zhou Mo himself couldn't remember it.

It seemed like she said something random at the time, saying that she had mysophobia and couldn't stand him.

The doubt and depression lasted only a moment, and Zhou Mo, who had always been cold and indifferent, quickly returned to normal.

Love is dispensable to her. If her parents hadn't urged her so hard, why would she date Yu Yizhou?

Zhou Mo’s life priorities are making money first, studies second, and love… not even last.

How can a man be reliable with money?

There is a typical case in particular - Yu Yizhou.

Just walked out of the hospital.

My mother Liu Xiangru called.

"Momo, have you reached an agreement with that Yu guy?"

"No." Zhou Mo was a little discouraged.

"I knew he had bad intentions. He wouldn't give in just because his leg was broken," Liu Xiangru asked again, "Did he tell us how much compensation he wanted from us?"

"It's not explicitly stated, so you should ask for a lot."

"How about I go ask him tomorrow how much he wants, and then we can just compensate him and be done with it. Can we even live with him making such a fuss?"

Zhou Mo rubbed his temples. "As for my dad, do you think he can possibly pay for this? He'll be furious. Besides, I don't want to pay for it. He used my ID card to register the company, and now all the losses from starting the business are on me. Who can I ask for this money?"

Liu Xiangru sighed on the phone, "The police station is questioning your father every few days... I'm scared."

Zhou Mo was also extremely worried.

Liu Xiangru has a gentle temper and has always been kind to others. She has never encountered such a situation before. After thinking about it, she blamed everything on herself.

"I wish I had introduced you to this guy named Yu."

"I was the one who went to see the person, and I agreed to it. It's not just you who misjudged him, I was too." Zhou Mo didn't like the talk of "regrets". "It happened, and we have to deal with it as we should. I'll ask my mentor if she knows a reliable lawyer. If that doesn't work, we can just sue."

Zhou Mo is a doctoral student at the School of Disease Prevention and Health Management of the First Hospital of Southeast University and is currently in his first year of doctoral studies.

The tutor is a first-level professor in the college. He is very nice and takes good care of Zhou Mo. Although he is a Buddhist, he is very capable and receives awards from the college every year.

I'm just old and a bit talkative.

Zhou Mo reported her situation truthfully to her tutor, who said he would try to help her and then gave her a few days off.

In fact, since the day Yu Yizhou broke his leg, Zhou Mo took three days off because of this matter.

Yu Yizhou called the police. There was no other way, his whole family had to cooperate with the police investigation.

The judicial appraisal showed that Yu Yizhou suffered minor injuries, but despite the minor injuries, Zhou Mo's father Zhou Zheng may also be suspected of assaulting others and be administratively detained.

The police investigation is not over yet, and Yu Yizhou's testimony is inconsistent with theirs. Considering Zhou Zheng's age and the fact that the matter is not serious, Zhou Zheng can go home first, but he must be ready to be investigated at any time.

A few days later.

Zhou Zheng called and asked Zhou Mo to come back for dinner in the evening.

Zhou Mo went to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau and the police station these days. Zhou Zheng felt sorry for his daughter.

Zhou Mo was in no mood. "Dad, you and my mom can eat. I have to meet my mentor tomorrow."

"Okay," Zhou Zheng didn't urge him and was about to hang up the phone.
