Chapter 534 Business trip, missed 1

After attending the Doctors' Day event at the First Hospital of Dongda University, Shen Qingyi informed Zhou Mo that this time, Professor Yuan would lead the team to work on a national-level project with Imperial Capital University.

Since this is a multi-center chronic disease cohort study, the research population involved needs to be carefully discussed and included. Staff from multiple centers must conduct standardized data collection and collation in accordance with unified standards, including questionnaires, follow-up survey language, and filling standards.

The project is expected to take ten years, so everything we do now is paving the way, which is like planting trees for future generations to enjoy the shade.

Ten years later, the people who initiated and led this project may no longer be around, or may have left the research for other reasons.

The published research results and sharing of research achievements are most likely not done by the group of people currently leading the effort.

This is also one of the reasons why large-scale long-term queues cannot be established in China.

However, from a national perspective, this kind of project must be done.

Cohort studies are undoubtedly the "gold standard" in epidemiological research because they can provide causal inferences between causes and diseases.

Well-known large-scale cohort studies abroad have emerged in large numbers, with some studies even following up for as long as fifty years, and the data are still being updated and improved in real time. In the past, they may have only contained some simple clinical examination results and basic clinical information, but now they involve more emerging omics data such as gene sequencing, methylation, protein data, and even single-cell sequencing.

A database was even established based on this, which became a source of data for many related researchers, and then more research was derived, allowing a hundred flowers to bloom.

However, such large cohort studies are lacking in China.

Therefore, the higher authorities ordered Imperial Capital University to take the lead and work with major domestic universities and relevant research institutes to launch this project.

However, cohort studies require quite high human, material and financial resources, and with the involvement of various institutions, collaboration among them is also a challenge.

There are a thousand Hamlets for a thousand readers, and the same is true for research. There are a thousand ideas for a thousand researchers, but the same cohort study needs to control variables, and so many Hamlets are not allowed to appear. We can only set up SOPs (standardized operating procedures) for the project in advance.

This is similar to national standards and industry standards, which regulate possible areas of disagreement in advance. Everyone follows unified and harmless standards to ensure the final feasibility and reliability of the results.

In the past, Zhou Mo thought that all kinds of meetings were really annoying, but when he really followed Shen Qingyi and came into contact with so many big names, he felt that some things really required repeated meetings, otherwise it would be difficult to negotiate and coordinate the forces of all parties.

Zhou Mo told Liu Xiangru about his business trip.

Liu Xiangru reacted strongly. On the phone, she asked, "You're going on a business trip, so what about meeting Han Chen's father?"

Zhou Mo: "Is his father really coming to Dongjiang?"

Liu Xiangru: "Your Aunt Liang has already said that it will be in the next two days, but it's hard to say when exactly. We will try to do it when it's convenient for us. We must be considerate of the nature of Han Chen's father's work. It doesn't matter when, as long as the two parents can meet. You are on a business trip at this time..."

Zhou Mo was also in a dilemma: "What should I do then?"

Liu Xiangru: "Can't I not go?"

Zhou Mo: "This project is a national project. All the first-time participants can be included in the project proposal. Even if I just have my name on it, it will be enough to brag about it. What's more, it was my advisor who brought me in. I really want to do the work. If I quit now, I'm afraid my advisor will want to kill me."

This is also one of Shen Qingyi's good intentions.

Zhou Mo cannot give up for either his resume or Shen Qingyi.

Liu Xiangru sighed and said, "It's indeed a very important matter. Career is the foundation of a person's life and livelihood, and you can't give up. Your father and I will discuss it with your Aunt Liang later. You are still studying for a doctorate, and it's not worth it to offend your teacher over such a small matter."

"Yeah," Zhou Mo was very grateful for Liu Xiangru's understanding.

At present, her studies are equivalent to her career. Anything that hinders her from pursuing a doctorate must be put aside. Nothing is more important than obtaining a doctoral degree.

As Liu Xiangru said, this is the foundation of her future life.

"You should also talk to Han Chen and be more gentle," Liu Xiangru said. "If necessary, use some soft words and act a little coquettishly. You're not the one who likes to use this against me and your father, but it should work on Han Chen too. Don't confront him head-on. Sometimes, attitude is more important than the matter itself."

Zhou Mo couldn't help laughing, "Are you teaching me how to control Han Chen?"

Liu Xiangru said, "I'm afraid you two will quarrel. She was determined and went through so much trouble to get her father to meet us, but now you, the future daughter-in-law, can't even show up. How sad are you making her?"

Zhou Mo curled his lips: "I don't want to either, but things have come to a head, and now I can't have my cake and eat it too..."

"Alright, alright, I get it," Liu Xiangru said. "Your father and I are definitely on your side. We'll take care of your Aunt Liang as well. Just go do your own thing. We'll be there to make sure nothing goes wrong."

"Hehe, thank you, Mom," Zhou Mo thought to himself, a child with a mother is really a treasure.

"Hurry up and tell Han Chen. Don't hide it. If you do, something bad will happen."

"Yeah, I know. I'll call him right away."

After hearing what Liu Xiangru said, Zhou Mo felt much more relieved about meeting her parents.

I have to say that for some things, parents are experienced and they are more thoughtful and reliable.

Zhou Mo immediately called Han Chen again.

The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered.

Zhou Mo guessed that Han Chen was busy, so he sent him a message, asking him to go home early in the evening because he had something to discuss.

Just after sending the message, Shen Qingyi sent another message, saying: We will depart the day after tomorrow and it will take five days. Please prepare your luggage.

Zhou Mo sighed deeply and replied "OK".

In the adult world, there are always some things that are beyond our control.

After get off work in the afternoon.

Zhao Xiaoshuang insisted on leaving the academy with her.

Because I learned that Zhou Mo bought a car, I wanted to go with her to see it.

Zhou Mo is not an employee of the hospital, so she cannot park her car inside the School of Health Management. She can only park in the public parking space outside the school.

Zhou Mo is already a leader among students as he has his own car while at school.

You know, most students still live in dormitories, and people like her who rent houses outside are a minority among the minority.

When Zhao Xiaoshuang saw the white CLA, she was surprised. "It's a Mercedes-Benz?"

Zhou Mo: "Yeah, mainly because I don't want to look too cheap."

She did not deny her vanity at all.

I chose this car because I didn't want Han Chen's BMW to look too shabby.

Zhao Xiaoshuang also understood Zhou Mo's thoughts immediately, "I understand you, you don't want to lose face in front of Dr. Han."
