Chapter 56 Jealousy

It's really disgusting.

Zhou Mo asked: "Did she tell you that in person?"

Zhao Xiaoshuang: "Yeah, she sent me a message on Sunday, asking me to cover for her on Monday."

Zhou Mo just thought it was ridiculous: "Why didn't she tell me in person?"

Zhao Xiaoshuang: "Of course I'm afraid of you. You're our senior sister."

Apart from Shen Qingyi, Zhou Mo has the most say in the group.

Zhou Mo disagreed, "I think she has something to hide."

Zhao Xiaoshuang: "What do you mean by guilty conscience?"

Zhou Mo: "Nothing."

On weekdays, Zhou Mo didn't want to be the "bad guy" and was very considerate to his junior brothers and sisters, especially Zhang Lanlan and Ding Ning, who were the youngest and had just finished their undergraduate studies and were still teenagers.

There were no urgent tasks in the first year of graduate school, so Zhou Mo wanted to let them adapt first.

Unexpectedly, this adaptation would cause problems.

Ding Ning was okay, quite obedient. When asked to come to the academy, she came obediently.

Zhang Lanlan is different. She drags Ding Ning to skip classes with her, and she avoids attending classes if possible.

The last time Shen Qingyi finished his project, Zhou Mo happened to be busy dealing with some trivial matters with Yu Yizhou and asked for leave, so he thought of giving the final report to the two of them to work out a rough draft.

Not surprisingly, the two screwed up.

What was produced was of no use at all.

Zhou Mo had no choice but to work overtime to rewrite it himself.

Zhou Mo was not angry or held anyone responsible for the behavior of his two junior sisters today, which made Zhao Xiaoshuang, who was standing by, feel uncomfortable.

She complained, "When I was a freshman, you didn't treat me like this. Why are you so kind and gentle to them now that they're here?"

"When you were just starting your graduate studies, I was also just starting my doctorate. Like you, I knew nothing. We were both making progress together, learning together, and sharing a revolutionary friendship through shared struggle," Zhou Mo rolled his eyes at her gently. "Your words really hurt my heart. Have you forgotten who helped you develop the reimbursement system?"

Zhao Xiaoshuang laughed and said, "Of course it's you, Senior Sister."

Zhou Mo's graduate supervisor was not Shen Qingyi, but another old professor in the college. The year he graduated, the old professor retired, and Zhou Mo had to change his supervisor to pursue his doctorate.

The old professor was a very nice person and introduced her to her current mentor, Shen Qingyi.

Only then did Zhou Mo successfully complete his doctoral studies.

When she was a first-year doctoral student, Zhao Xiaoshuang was a first-year graduate student. Both of them were "newbies" in Shen Qingyi's group and had no idea about the rules and some matters in Shen Qingyi's group.

At that time, there was another senior brother Suo Donghao who was about to graduate in the Shen Qingyi group. He was also in charge of the affairs of the Shen Qingyi group. However, since he was about to graduate and had to find a job, Suo Donghao handed over the heavy burden of managing various affairs of the group to Zhou Mo.

Later, Suo Donghao was busy with graduation and job hunting, and rarely came to the group.

Zhou Mo could only seek help from Tang Jiahui and Chi Zhouxu, who were in their second year of graduate studies at the time. They had been studying for two years as graduate students under Shen Qingyi and were familiar with the situation there.

By the weekend, when she had fully mastered the operating rules of the group, she also understood why Shen Qingyi had not recruited any doctoral students since Suo Donghao. It was not for any other reason, but because of her last-minute cramming nature, which tortured the students during their graduate studies.

After completing their graduate studies, students think about graduating immediately, flying far away, and never seeing each other again.

After Boyi and Shen Qingyi got along well, Zhou Mo also had a general understanding of Shen Qingyi's temperament and character.

She doesn't make any demands on weekdays and seems amiable, but when the critical moment comes, if the people in the team cannot give her a satisfactory explanation or result, she will fly into a rage and her temper will become unpredictable.

In order to prevent the two new first-year graduate students from being at a loss when starting their graduate research projects, she summarized some key points for them early on, such as asking them to read classic literature in the field, sharing Python video courses with them, and some common statistical methods that must be mastered, so that they can learn the principles by themselves.

Ding Ning was okay, she got some feedback, but as for Zhang Lanlan, Zhou Mo kept asking her about her self-study results, but she always found excuses to refuse.

Zhou Mo also didn't want to be a bad senior sister, for fear of being hated by others.

Since they were given the method, they were unwilling to learn it. Zhou Mo was not related to them. When they were doing their graduate thesis, they would regret it.

Zhou Mo didn't want to care about it anymore.

Shen Qingyi suddenly sent a message: "Have Lanlan and Xiaoding finalized their proposals? If they have, have them come to the conference room this afternoon and we'll have a meeting."

Since the mentor said so, Zhou Mo definitely couldn't ignore it.

I could only reply to Shen Qingyi: OK.

I edited a notice and sent it to the large group in the group.

Zhou Mo was afraid that Zhang Lanlan and Ding Ning would block the group messages, so he sent them a private notification again.

After finishing all this, Zhou Mo felt really tired, put down his phone and leaned back in his work chair.

Zhao Xiaoshuang saw the fatigue in her eyes, "Tired?"

Zhou Mo nodded.

Zhao Xiaoshuang pulled a chair and sat behind Zhou Mo, rubbing her shoulders to help her relax. "Tell me, why did you choose to get a PhD in the first place? If I were you, wouldn't it be nice to become a civil servant?"

Zhou Mo recalled his original intention of taking the doctoral exam in his mind, and it seemed that there was no reason to pursue a doctorate.

Digging through her memory again, she suddenly remembered something, "It seemed like I was just angry at the time."

"Angry? Angry with whom?"

"My ex-ex, when I was doing research in the countryside, he got together with a PhD student."

Zhao Xiaoshuang suddenly became gossipy. "Who is it? Do I know him? Can you tell me?"

Zhou Mo poked her head gently and said, "You, you are not the only one who can be found in gossip."

"Who is it?" Zhao Xiaoshuang shook Zhou Mo's chair.

"You don't know them, but they went to the capital together after graduation. Maybe they're married now."

Zhou Mo has let go of that past, or rather, she never took it to heart from the beginning to the end.

Even when she saw the two of them hugging and kissing each other in the laboratory, Zhou Mo felt very calm inside. All she thought was, oh, it seems that she has a reason to end this relationship.

Not long after, Zhou Mo's phone rang. It was Ding Ning replying to his message.

She said she would come over in the afternoon and also sent Zhou Mo a document, which was a literature review she had recently written based on the topic of her thesis.

Zhou Mo opened it on the computer. Before he read the content, he just looked at the number of pages. It was fifteen pages long. Zhou Mo smiled with relief.

Finally, I have a good junior sister.

Zhao Xiaoshuang stared at Zhou Mo's computer screen, surprised. "Xiao Ding is pretty good. Did he write a literature review?"

"Well, let me see how it goes," Zhou Mo suddenly felt much better. After all, everyone likes children who are down-to-earth and hardworking.

Zhao Xiaoshuang: "Send it to Director Shen later. Xiao Ding is a teachable kid."

Zhou Mo's expression suddenly darkened, "Let Xiao Ding send it to Director Shen himself later."

"This is your good teaching. Send it to Director Shen and let her see it. Your recent efforts have also yielded results."

Zhou Mo pursed her lips and said, "I guess Zhang Lanlan will start imagining things again."
