"Want to eat wontons?"
"Huh?" Han Chen didn't react.
Zhou Mo: "I'm in a bad mood and want to eat wontons."
Han Chen: "Which one do you want to go to? The one near No. 2 Middle School or the one on Xiaole Street?"
Zhou Mo was dazed for a moment, "Do you still remember?"
Han Chen felt a little uneasy, "Which one do you want to go to?"
"Across from No. 2 Middle School."
Han Chen turned the steering wheel and the car changed lanes.
No. 2 Middle School is the high school alma mater of Han Chen and Zhou Mo. It is very close to Yuanshangju and can be reached in more than ten minutes' walk from Zhou Mo's home.
Yuanshangju is located in the old city area of Dongjiang. The schools here, from junior high school to high school, are all famous schools with a long history in Dongjiang.
Dongjiang No. 2 High School is the best public high school in Dongjiang. There is also a private high school that is comparable to No. 2 High School - Dongjiang No. 9 High School.
It is said that the children of the upper class in Dongjiang at that time were all in Dongjiang No. 9 Middle School. The school was strictly managed and its slogan was "international boarding school". It was obvious that not everyone could attend.
Liang Xinyun originally planned to send Han Chen to No. 9 Middle School, but when she heard that he had to live on campus, and because Han Chen's ability to take care of himself was so poor at the time that he could not take care of himself, Liang Xinyun gave up the plan.
But to enter No. 2 Middle School, one must have a school district house. Liang Xinyun asked people to look for it and finally found a house for sale. That family happened to be the Zhou family's next-door neighbor.
Zhou Mo and Han Chen became neighbors from then on.
Various small shops are still open around the school. The roads in the old city are not very wide and most of the shops are very small. Many barbecue restaurants and snack bars simply set up tables on the sidewalks at the door to expand their business scope.
The place was filled with smoke and bustling with people, and a familiar feeling came over me.
"I haven't been here for a long time," Zhou Mo couldn't help but sniff and smell the familiar smell of fireworks.
"There's a new handmade ice cream shop over there." She suddenly made a great discovery.
Han Chen glanced at him and said, "You can't eat it."
“Who said I can’t eat?”
"Aren't you on your period?"
"..." Zhou Mo was embarrassed, his face slightly red, "How did you know?"
"Last time your bag fell off the sofa at my house, and there was half a pack of Weil in it."
Zhou Mo chuckled emotionlessly. "You're so observant that you even remember the brand name."
“Don’t you always use this brand?”
Zhou Mo was completely speechless. She realized something belatedly, "So that's why you told Liu Kai I couldn't eat the cake?"
"What else?"
Zhou Mo squinted his eyes and looked at him. "You are so talented, it would be a shame if you didn't become a detective."
"Do you still want to eat wontons?" Han Chen asked.
"eat."
Han Chen turned and walked into the wonton shop, and Zhou Mo followed closely.
The wonton shop is very small. Due to the renovation of the old city, all the shops here have been renovated. The walls are covered with light orange tiles, and simply decorated with straw bundles. A few fabric patterns are hung on the walls, giving it a pastoral feel.
The boss greeted customers warmly when he saw them coming. "You've arrived at the perfect time. If you'd come any later, I'd have been closing the shop. What would you two like to eat?"
"You order," Han Chen gave the choice to Zhou Mo.
"I want to eat wontons. How about you? One bowl too?" Zhou Mo asked Han Chen for his opinion.
"I'm not hungry, just order one." Han Chen casually found an empty seat next to him and sat down.
Zhou Mo said to the boss, "I want a small wonton, no cilantro."
"Okay," the boss turned around and went to the kitchen.
Zhou Mo sat across from Han Chen and looked around curiously at the changes. "It's different from before."
"It's been ten years, there can't be any changes."
Zhou Mo glanced at Han Chen and said, "Yeah, it's been ten years, and you're still the same as before, good at killing conversation."
Han Chen's eyes darkened, and he said no more.
The wontons came up quickly. After a while, the boss came over with a plate. "Small wontons for you two."
Zhou Mo took the plate and asked, "Boss, when did this restaurant change owners?"
The previous owners were a couple in their fifties.
"No one has changed. My parents used to run the store, but now they are old and have returned to their hometown to retire. So I am in charge of the store now."
"No wonder," Zhou Mo had rarely seen the current boss.
"Did you graduate from No. 2 Middle School?" asked the boss.
"How do you know?" Zhou Mo was surprised.
"The customers who knew about my parents opening this store were all from five or six years ago. You should be students from No. 2 Middle School. You look so young, are you still in college?"
Zhou Mo covered his lips and smiled, "Not that young, but I'm still in school."
She had a malicious look on her face and winked at Han Chen and said, "He's already over 30."
The boss looked at Han Chen.
Perhaps it was because Han Chen shaved his head, and because of his hairstyle, he did look a bit more mature than when he had long hair.
The boss said, "That's pretty young, too. She doesn't look over 35."
Zhou Mo couldn't help laughing, but seeing Han Chen's dark face, she couldn't laugh out loud and could only hold it in.
Only after the boss left did she burst out laughing.
Han Chen glanced at her and said, "You are only one year younger than me. If I am a 30-year-old man, you are a 29-year-old woman."
Zhou Mo's smile froze. "Haven't you heard that a woman's age is a secret?"
"You mentioned it first."
“…” Zhou Mo was so angry that he scooped up a wonton and swallowed it in one gulp, as if the wonton was Han Chen.
The wonton soup contains seaweed and shrimp, and is served with pickled mustard greens, which tastes particularly fresh.
At the previous dinner, Zhou Mo had no appetite and didn't eat much. But when she came across the delicious wontons, her craving and hunger were aroused, and she ate half a bowl in no time.
