Chapter 185 Shiba Inu Villa

Chapter 185 Shiba Inu Villa

Zhao Chen remained calm, "Well, a little. Mainly because our president," he paused, a look of "you know what I mean," "is stupid and rich, and he really likes to give out benefits. I've already won a lottery, so it's a waste not to stay."

Yu Ling: "..." It would be strange if she believed it!

The master bedroom door opened.

Yu Ling gasped.

How could this be a bedroom? It's a palace! The huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the shimmering lake. The king-size bed in the center is more than enough to sleep five people.

Even more outrageous is the cloakroom.

It was even bigger than her previous rental! Glass cabinets lined three walls, filled with clothes, skirts, bags, and shoes from all the major luxury brands of the season...with the labels still on! On the central island, dazzling jewelry gleamed under the spotlights. Several of the boxes looked familiar to her—the "guild benefits" Zhao Chen had given her before.

"This...was also won in a lottery?" Yu Ling pointed at the cloakroom that was comparable to a boutique, her voice floating.

"Oh, this isn't it," Zhao Chen finally said. He walked over and casually opened a drawer. Inside was neatly stacked... socks of various colors, printed with different silly Shiba Inu patterns!

"This is the quarterly member uniform refill pack distributed by the Logistics Department." He picked up a pair of socks with a Shiba Inu wearing a chef's hat printed on them and said seriously:

"Socks, pajamas, towels... they're all here. The other hanging items," he pointed at the wall full of luxury goods, "were put together by the 'guild image consultant.' They said the lady needs different outfits for different occasions. They're... guild fixed assets, on loan for your use."

"Fixed assets? Temporary loan?" Yu Ling picked up a brand's couture dress of the season. The six-digit price tag shone brightly. "What if it breaks?"

"Deduct the year-end bonus." Zhao Chen answered quickly, picking up a silk nightgown beside him and stuffing it into her hand. "Go take a bath and relax? The bathroom is over there. The water is ready."

Yu Ling, clutching her nightgown, numbly walked toward the direction he pointed. She pushed open the bathroom door—a space larger than her living room. In the center, a sunken circular jacuzzi was emitting curls of steam, with fresh rose petals floating on the surface.

On the shelf next to it, all the bath product bottles were printed with various cartoon Shiba Inus, some taking a bath, some getting a back scrub, some with bubbles on their heads...

She closed the door resignedly.

When she came out from the soaking, feeling soft all over, wearing a velvet nightgown printed with dozing Shiba Inus, Zhao Chen had also changed into the same Shiba Inu pajamas and was sitting on the small sofa by the window in the bedroom, typing on his laptop. His gold-rimmed glasses reflected the cold light of the screen, and the lines of his profile were stern.

Wangcai lay curled up on the expensive carpet at his feet, sprawled out in his sleep, snoring softly. The jade "dog tag" around his neck shone warmly in the setting sun.

"Are you done?" Yu Ling walked over while wiping her hair.

Zhao Chen immediately closed his notebook, his aura of keeping strangers away instantly melting away. He extended his hand towards her, "Alright. Come on, I'll show you the terrace of your 'Guild Canteen'."

The lakeside terrace offers a stunning view. A three-tiered bone china stand sits on a white round table, laden with tempting scones, mini sandwiches, and macarons. The aroma of black tea lingers.

As soon as Yu Ling sat down, Uncle Chen appeared like a ghost, holding a velvet box in his hand.

"Madam, this is a little surprise for afternoon tea that Mr. has prepared for you."

The box opened, revealing a cool-looking car key with a metallic, cold sheen. Hanging from the keychain was a cute-looking Shiba Inu doll wearing a racing driver's uniform.

Yu Ling's eyelids jumped, and she looked at Zhao Chen: "What kind of fixed asset is this?"

"Your new car is provided by the Guild." Zhao Chen picked up a scone and slowly spread a thick layer of clotted cream on it. "It's in the garage downstairs, the matte black one. The performance is okay, and it's low-key, suitable for you to drive to work."

Yu Ling thought of his "low-key" guild chariot, and the corner of her mouth twitched. "I'm going to Genesis Building? Are you sure there's room downstairs in our company?"

"If you can't stop, just buy it." Zhao Chen said as a matter of course, passing the scone with cream to her mouth. "Or ask the 'Guild Logistics Department' to coordinate a dedicated parking space. It's a small matter."

Yu Ling: "..." She numbly took a bite of the scone. Mmm, the cream was fragrant and smooth, the scone was warm and soft. Okay, destroy it.

The golden glow of the setting sun shone across the lake and onto Zhao Chen, casting a soft glow on his hard, cold features. He watched her intently as she ate her snack, the gentleness in his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses drowning in tenderness.

"Are you used to it?" he asked softly.

Yu Ling looked at the beautiful scenery, delicious food, and the handsome man (wearing a silly Shiba Inu pajamas), then looked at Wangcai, who was sleeping on his belly on the carpet at his feet, wearing a "dog tag" worth tens of millions, and sighed deeply:

"Aside from feeling like I'm surrounded by Shiba Inus...it's okay."

Zhao Chen chuckled softly, his chest vibrating. He leaned over, wiping a little cream off the corner of her mouth with his slender fingers, then naturally put it into his mouth and sucked it.

"You'll get used to it." His eyes were deep. "From now on, this will be home. Our home."

Dinner was eaten in a restaurant that was comparable to a banquet hall. She and Zhao Chen sat at opposite ends of the long dining table, with enough space between them for a horse to run.

Dishes, exquisite as works of art, were served in a continuous stream, the silverware gleaming in the candlelight. Uncle Chen and two servants stood by, as quiet as a backdrop.

Yu Ling felt uncomfortable holding the heavy silver fork.

"Zhao Chen," she lowered her voice, "Can we...eat somewhere else? Like, at the kitchen table?"

Zhao Chen was elegantly cutting the white truffle steak on the plate. He paused when he heard this, looked up at her, and then glanced at Uncle Chen and others who were standing solemnly behind him.

"Did you hear that?" His voice was not loud, but it carried an unquestionable command.

"Yes, sir." Uncle Chen bowed slightly and with a gesture, the servants standing by immediately took action silently and quickly.

Two minutes later.

In the bright, spacious kitchen with top-notch equipment that could open a Michelin restaurant, Zhao Chen and Yu Ling sat side by side on high stools next to the large central island.

On the island in front of me were two bowls of steaming hot Yangchun noodles, sprinkled with green onions and golden fried eggs.

Zhao Chen was still wearing his silly Shiba Inu apron, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular forearms. He transferred the fried egg from his bowl to Yu Ling's.

"Eat." He picked up the chopsticks and blew on the noodles. "Uncle Chen's cooking skills are not very good. I'll do it next time."

Yu Ling looked at the golden fried egg in the bowl, then at the man next to her who was wearing a haute couture shirt and a cartoon apron and was slurping noodles seriously, and then looked around the ridiculously large kitchen that was filled with the simple aroma of noodles. The sense of alienation she had felt when she first entered a wealthy family was suddenly soothed by this bowl of hot noodles.

"Yeah!" She nodded heavily, picked up the fried egg, took a big bite, and squinted her eyes happily.
