Chapter 55: The "Birth-Inducing" Incident (Part 1)
That yellowed photo of them taking photos by the Stanford Lake burned Yu Ling's retina like a red-hot iron!
The intimate gesture of Gu Qianqian holding Zhao Chen's arm, and the graceful and affectionate words "To my brilliant Chen, with all my love. Always" on the back of the photo, every detail was like an ice-cold dagger, completely exposing Zhao Chen's lies of "insignificant old classmate" and "clinging to him out of love and hate"!
The immense sense of deception and the anger of being fooled instantly overwhelmed Yu Ling's sanity! She suddenly raised her head, her scarlet eyes fixed on Zhao Chen, who had just walked out of the study. Her hand holding the photo was shaking violently from the force, her knuckles turning white, and she was almost crushing the thin photo paper!
"Zhao Chen!" Her voice was sharp and out of tune due to extreme anger and disappointment, with a strong tone of crying and accusation, and every word was like ice squeezed out from between her teeth, "Is this what you call an 'insignificant old classmate'?! This is 'persistence'?! This photo! This inscription! Tell me! What on earth is this?!" She raised the photo fiercely, almost slapping it on Zhao Chen's face!
The fatigue on Zhao Chen's face was instantly replaced by astonishment and a hint of sudden panic! He obviously didn't expect that this old photo, which had long been forgotten in a corner, would be turned out at this moment.
He stared at the dazzling photo in Yu Ling's hand, and then met the undisguised anger and despair of being completely betrayed in her eyes. Complex emotions surged in his eyes, including embarrassment of being caught, deep regret, but more of a cold anxiety that was pushed to the edge of a cliff!
"Lingling!" He growled, his voice filled with suppressed urgency and undeniable strength, and strode forward! He no longer tried to explain the photo. His goal was clear: to take back the damned evidence!
"Listen to me! It's not what you think!" He reached out to grab the photo and tried to trap Yu Ling with his body. His movements were unprecedentedly rough and flustered, and he had completely lost his usual composure!
"Don't touch me!" Yu Ling backed away like an enraged beast, her body slamming against the cold shelf with a clang! She clutched the photo tightly, her red eyes filled with wariness and icy hatred. "It's not what I thought?! What is it?! Zhao Chen! Is there a single word of truth in your mouth?! How long are you going to lie to me?!"
Her question was sharp and desperate, echoing in the empty living room. She was shaking with grief and anger, and her tears finally burst out uncontrollably!
Zhao Chen's outstretched hand froze in mid-air. Looking at Yu Ling's collapsed appearance, looking at the deep hatred and coldness in her eyes, the last trace of calmness that he tried to conceal in his eyes completely shattered!
A mixture of rage, fear, and unspeakable pain instantly rushed to his head! He no longer tried to snatch the photo, but instead took a step forward and clasped Yu Ling's shoulders with his hands like iron clamps, with such force that she cried out in pain!
"Shut up!" He growled, his voice icy and chilling, with an almost uncontrollable hostility and absolute desire for control. His eyes were bottomless, surging with a heart-pounding cold light. "Don't look at me like that! Don't say that word!" He was obviously referring to the word "lie".
He leaned over, pressing his hot forehead against Yu Ling's cold forehead, their noses touching, his breathing hot and rapid, with a strong sense of oppression: "Lingling! Look at me!" He forced her to look at him, his voice low and hoarse, with an unquestionable command and a hint of almost fragile pleading?
"That's all in the past! It's over long ago! Who is Gu Qianqian? What did she do? She means nothing to me! Now! Here! There's only you! Only Yu Ling! Do you hear me clearly?!"
"His words were like boiling magma, with an unquestionable force and an almost paranoid declaration, trying to forcibly cover up the doubts and hatred churning in her heart.
Yu Ling was trapped between the cold shelf and his scorching body, her shoulders aching from his pinch, forced to endure his scorching gaze and the angry breath on her face. His words were like a hammer, hammering down on the chaotic lake of her heart, stirring up huge waves.
She looked at the strong emotions in his eyes that almost swallowed her up. There was anger and control, but deep down, the almost fragile fear of losing her was like a fine needle, accurately piercing the softest part of her heart.
The immense grievance and the feeling of powerlessness from being forcibly appeased drained her of energy, and her strength to struggle vanished in an instant. She no longer resisted, but simply let him hold her rigidly, tears silently sliding down her pale cheeks, dripping onto the back of his hand that was tightly clasped around her shoulders.
Zhao Chen felt the stiffness of her body and her silent tears. The hostility in her eyes quickly faded like the tide, replaced by deep pity and regret.
His tense body relaxed slightly, and the grip on her shoulders subconsciously loosened a bit, but he still didn't let go. He lowered his head, and with a warm, almost pious pity, he kissed away the tears on her face bit by bit, his movements so gentle that they were completely different from the roughness just now.
"I'm sorry, Lingling. I'm sorry!"
His deep voice rang in her ears, thick with nasal tones and full of regret, repeating his apology over and over again, "It's my fault. I didn't deal with the past well and scared you."
His kisses moved from her cheek to her closed eyelids, and then to her tightly pursed, tear-stained lips. They were no longer domineering and plundering, but carried a cautious comfort and a strong possessiveness that tried to prove something.
Yu Ling closed her eyes, enduring his scorching, chaotic kiss. A desolate, tangled mass of ice and fire mingled within her heart. The shock of the photo and Zhao Chen's sudden, brutal and tender moment were like two immense forces tearing madly apart in her mind. She was exhausted, drained, and wanted nothing more than to escape this suffocating vortex.
Just when she was about to completely sink or collapse in this chaotic comfort, hum-hum-hum-
A sudden and continuous vibration, like a life-saving horn, rang out in the living room! The sound came from the phone that Zhao Chen had thrown on the sofa!
