Chapter 20 Return to Mocheng

The morning sun shines on the ridges of the fields, colliding with the golden rice to create a colorful display.

A military green Hummer was driving on the road beside the field, gradually moving away with a mixture of attachment and reluctance.

Yan Mo looked at Aunt Wu's slowly disappearing figure behind the car and stopped waving his arms out of the window.

a long time.

Then he looked away.

The sadness of parting welled up in my heart.

The three days in Sixiang Village might have been work for her, but the kindness they showed her was genuine, and Yan Mo could feel it.

"If you don't want to leave, we can come here often in the future." Si Ze, who was driving, comforted him.

Yan Mo exhaled, smiled, and asked, "Mr. Si, do you come back often?"

"When the old man still lived here, he would come here often. Later, when he no longer lived here and I joined the army, I seldom came back." Perhaps because he could sense Yan Mo's depression, Si Ze talked more today and even told Yan Mo about his past.

"When did the old man leave Sixiang Village?"

“When I went to the army.”

Yan Mo: “…”

Answering is the same as not saying anything.

later.

They chatted a lot, but it was rare for Si Ze to talk about his past. Yan Mo was very interested and naturally would not let it go.

A few dozen minutes later.

The car got off the highway and entered Mocheng.

Listening to the hustle and bustle of Mocheng and seeing its prosperity, I feel a different mood, and the sadness of parting is swept away.

Yan Mo opened the tightly closed car window, exhaled, and raised his mouth slightly.

"Ring, ring, ring..." The phone rang in the car.

Yan Mo dug out her phone. It wasn't hers.

"Help me get my phone." Si Ze said.

Yan Mo took out Si Ze's phone from the cup holder, glanced at the caller ID, and said, "It's your grandfather calling."

Si Ze knew that the old man called to talk about his relationship with Yan Mo. In order to avoid him having to repeat it to her again, he ordered: "Turn on Bluetooth and connect to the car."

Yan Mo followed Si Ze's instructions, operated the display screen in the car, connected the phone, and then answered the call.

Mr. Si's loud and clear voice filled the entire car:

"Si Ze, we're here now! Are you planning to go home or back to the company? When will you move my granddaughter-in-law's things home?"

As soon as the old man opened his mouth, he asked a question that made Yan Mo tremble with fear.

Yan Mo blinked his big eyes, waved his hands at Si Ze, and mouthed, "Please, don't agree to it."

The fact that she agreed to go to Sixiang Village to worship her ancestors was really her limit, and that was only for Chairman Mao's sake.

Don’t even think about moving to the Si family’s house. This is not something that money can solve.

Besides, her mother was very strict. The Si family was a big family. What was more terrifying than a wolf's den was a tiger's den.

Forget it! If Si Ze dared to agree to this, she would quit immediately.

"Grandpa, don't worry about these things. I'm driving."

Si Ze looked up and pinched his eyebrows. What is this old man doing? He is getting more and more chaotic as he gets older. Didn’t he agree that he would not care about them after they got married? It hasn’t even been three days and he’s started again. He really doesn’t let people rest in peace.

Mr. Si on the other end of the phone heard the meaning of his grandson's words and made it clear that he didn't want him to care.

How could that be possible? By the time his silly grandson finally came to his senses, he would be buried in the earth and wouldn't even be able to see his great-grandson.

"Hmph, give the phone to Yan Mo, I'll talk to her."

Yan Mo felt as if a knife was on his neck. His face turned pale, and he gritted his teeth and shouted, "Grandpa."

"Yan Mo! What do you say? Do you want to move in and live with grandpa?"

No, don't want it.

Yan Mo shouted hard in his heart.

"Haha, Grandpa, isn't it too fast? My parents don't know about this yet. If I suddenly say I'm moving to your house, they probably won't agree." Yan Mo tried hard to find an excuse.

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while before the old man spoke: "Alright, Yan Mo, how about this! I'll let the brat go to your house to visit your parents first, and then the two families can meet. What do you think?"

"Grandpa, don't." Yan Mo blurted out: "They are busy recently, very busy."

Realizing that his intentions were too obvious, Yan Mo quickly changed his tone: "Wait until they are done and you are free, then we can discuss it. What do you think, Grandpa?"

When Yan Mo said this, the clothes on his back were wet and he was extremely nervous.

"Then we'll go visit them after they're done. Yan Mo, give the phone to that brat."

Si Ze took over Yan Mo's words and shouted, "Grandpa."

"Little brat, let's not talk about anything else for now. I know you are busy. Can you bring Yan Mo back for dinner tonight?" The old man knew that his grandson had not been to the company for three days and the company must have a lot of things to deal with, so he compromised temporarily.

Si Ze: "Not tonight, Santana Francisco will be in Mexico City tonight."

"Okay! Tomorrow then."

"Let's talk about it tomorrow." Without waiting for the old man's response, Si Ze hung up the phone and turned to Yan Mo in the passenger seat and said, "I'll take you back to Jingyang Community."

From Grandpa Si's words, Yan Mo knew that Si Ze would be very busy today.

Yan Mo turned her head to look out the window, and confirmed that they were not far from home, so she politely declined Si Ze's offer to take her home.

"No need. Just go through this path and you will be close to Jingyang Community. It's not far away. You pull over and I will get off here." Yan Mo pointed to an alley on the right.

"That's fine." Si Ze glanced at the alley. It should be safe during the day and he was indeed very busy. Since Yan Mo said so, he didn't insist on taking her there.

The car slowly stopped near the side of the alley. Yan Mo unbuckled his seatbelt, picked up the three boxes of osmanthus cake and osmanthus honey on the back seat, got out of the car, and said, "Thank you!"
