Chapter 320 Sending Money

When everyone from the Si family came out of the Ci Hall, it was already dawn. Along the way, Yan Mo was held by his mother-in-law, while Si Ze supported the old man.

"Grandpa, whose field is the second one at the village entrance?" Si Ze asked, planning to give the money for the pomelo to someone else later.

Mr. Si recalled:

"It seems to be from Geshanpi's family, what's wrong?"

Si Ze smiled and shook his head, answering truthfully: "We picked a few grapefruits to eat on our way back yesterday, and planned to send the money over."

"That's what I should do." Old Master Si nodded, agreeing with his grandson's behavior. Taking things without asking and not paying afterwards is stealing, and his Si family will never allow such a thing to happen.

"Do you know how to get to the Pi family across the mountain?" asked Mr. Si.

"I know." Si Ze nodded. Ge Shanpi is of the same generation as the old man. He used to change light bulbs for them and repair their roof. Since there are only two empty-nest elderly people in the family, it is quite pitiful. Si Ze should have a deep impression of them.

Mr. Si instructed: "Then you can go and deliver it later. It doesn't matter if you give more. It's not easy for the couple."

"Okay, I know." Si Ze responded seriously. Even if the old man didn't tell him, he would do it.

Si Ze sent the old man to the door of his house and prepared to go to Ge Shanpi's house. However, before leaving, he said hello to Yan Mo.

Yan Mo held his hand tightly and smiled at his mother-in-law beside him.

"You two can chat, I'll go see if Grandpa has any plans for the New Year's Eve dinner." Tang Ping walked away tactfully.

Seeing her mother-in-law walk away, Yan Mo tilted his head slightly and whispered in his ear:

"Can I go with you?"

"Okay." Si Ze smiled, took her hand, turned around and was about to walk out.

At this time, an elderly man with a limp, wearing black linen clothes and carrying a sack on his shoulder, walked towards their Si family with a smile on his face.

Yan Mo didn't understand why he stopped again. She followed his gaze and glanced at the old man, then looked at Si Ze: "Why? Is he a relative of ours?"

"Yuzu's owner." Si Ze replied.

Yan Mo was startled, thinking to herself, "Oh no!" Could it be that the old man didn't see the money she left in the fields and came to complain? She leaned closer to him and said nervously,

"What would happen if grandpa and the others knew about this?"

Si Ze gave her a reassuring look: "It's okay, I was originally sending money to Uncle Pi."

Before, he only told her that he was going out for a while, but didn't say what he was going to do, so Yan Mo didn't know that he was going to give her money.

Yan Mo opened her mouth and was about to say that she had already put the money under the tree, but then she changed her mind and thought that if the old man had gotten the money, he would not have come to the Si family. It was possible that the money was taken away by someone else. After all, in such an open place, it made no sense not to pick up the money.

Thinking of this possibility, she swallowed her words and followed Si Ze towards the elderly man.

Afraid that the old man couldn't hear him, Si Ze shouted loudly: "Grandpa Pi, why are you here?" Then he went to take the burden from the old man's shoulder.

Geshanpi slowly raised his head and saw that it was Si Ze. His eyes lit up and he loosened his old and wrinkled hands, allowing Si Ze to take the bag of grapefruits from his shoulder.

When people reach a certain age, their hearing declines. Si Ze was afraid that Ge Shanpi didn't hear it, so he repeated his question again.

Geshanpi patted the sack full of grapefruits on the ground, and a simple smile appeared on his face:

"Heizi, I heard from your people that your wife wants to eat pomelo. We just happened to have some at home, so I sent them over to you."

Si Ze was flattered: "Grandpa Pi, you..."

There was also a mist in Yan Mo's eyes. She was moved for Si Ze. An old man in his eighties or nineties carried a bag of food to you just because your wife wanted to eat it. The simple rural sentiment in the countryside was really heartwarming, which was completely different from the profit-oriented atmosphere in some cities today.

Then, the old man looked at Yan Mo behind Si Ze and smiled even more happily, revealing the row of teeth that were missing:

"The little girl must be Heizi's wife! Well, she's pretty and a good match for Heizi."

"Thank you, Grandpa Pi." Yan Mo lowered his head a little embarrassedly after being praised by the old man in public.

Geshanpi couldn't say anything fancy, so he just laughed and pushed the bag to Si Ze.

"Grandpa Pi." Si Ze hesitated.

"Don't refuse. This is a gift from me and your Grandma Pi." Geshanpi urged.

"good."

After a long time, Si Ze took the bag pushed by the old man and called Guan Dacheng to carry it into the house.

He also took out a stack of hundred-yuan bills from his wallet and said, "Grandpa Pi, consider this bag of grapefruits as my purchase."

"No." The old man waved his hand and refused to retreat.

Si Ze said firmly: "Grandpa Pi, if you don't accept it, then I can't have it." Then he turned around and called back Guan Dacheng who was already carrying the pomelo towards the dean.

The old man was in trouble.

Yan Mo stepped forward, took the money from Si Ze's hand, walked up to Ge Shanpi, decisively stuffed it into his pocket, and said with a smile:

"Grandpa Pi, don't refuse. Take it! You can't buy it for others either."

"But..." Geshanpi didn't know what to say. He wouldn't ask for so much money even if he sold it to others! Thinking of this, he stretched out his hand and wanted to take out the money and return it to Si Ze.

Yan Moyi immediately stopped him: "Grandpa Pi, you really don't want to take the money? Heizi definitely won't want it. Don't you understand his character?"

Hearing this, Geshanpi stopped what he was doing. Yes, he knew Si Ze's character. Even though he had done countless good things and helped them countless times, he would not accept any benefits from the villagers. Finally, Geshanpi finally gave in and agreed to accept it.

Seeing this, Si Ze quickly took out another stack of banknotes from his wallet: "Grandpa Pi, this is the money we paid for the grapefruits we picked from your field yesterday. Please accept it." After saying that, he asked Yan Mo to put it into the old man's pocket without further explanation.

This time the old man was really anxious. He quickly covered his pockets and stepped back, shaking his head: "No, no."

However, the old man's hands and feet were no match for those of the young people. During the struggle, Yan Mo stuffed the money into the old man's pocket again.

"Heizi's wife, you treat others like this." Geshanpi was so anxious that he was about to cry.

Seeing this, Yan Mo's mind raced, and he thought of a way to balance things out, and blurted out:

"Grandpa Pi, we won't take the money back." Yan Mo and Si Ze looked at each other, then turned back to the old man and suggested:

"How about this? I'll buy the pomelo from the tree at the entrance of the village. I'll have someone pick it later, and you can keep the money. How about that?"

In fact, Geshanpi was unwilling in his heart. The money given by Heizi was enough to buy several large cars. But when he saw the determined expressions of Si Ze and Yan Mo, he felt that it would be useless even if he was unwilling. In the end, he nodded and compromised.

However, he added a condition: "I have several bags of them at home from the trees, and you have to take them too."
