Chapter 112: The poignant farewell is heartbreaking.

"Oh my god, I completely forgot about that. Did you pass the exam?" The old lady didn't dare to ask directly!

Qian Xiao raised her chin: "Really, who do you think I am? I'm the smartest person in our village."

"Wait for Grandma to wash her hands first," the old lady said, her bound feet moving quickly. That notice was very precious, so she had to make sure her hands were clean.

Upon hearing this, Old Man Qian rushed out of the house: "Erdan, quickly bring out your admission notice and let me see it."

Qian Xiaoxiao opened her schoolbag with a grin and took out her report card. Old Man Qian reached out to take it and look at it, but Grandma Qian shouted, which startled both Old Man Qian and Qian Xiaoxiao.

"You old geezer, try touching that notice without washing your hands!"

Old Qian felt embarrassed after his wife humiliated him and made a fool of himself in front of his granddaughter. He shouted back, but his voice was at least eight octaves lower than his wife's.

"I'll wash my hands, why are you yelling?"

Old Man Qian glared at his granddaughter, who was trying not to laugh: "What are you laughing at? Go inside and wait."

Then he glared at his third son standing next to him: "And you, go wash your hands too, you good-for-nothing, do you need your father to teach you how to wash your hands?"

Qian Xiao's face turned bright red as she tried to suppress her laughter. She ran to the main room, knowing that if she actually laughed out loud, her grandfather would lose face.

Such conversations often happened at home, and the family members were used to it. The second and third aunts also quickly came out, but they all went to the well to wash their hands first. They wanted to touch the university admission notice, hoping that they could absorb some of its academic aura and that their sons could also get into university like their eldest sister.

"Big sister, big sister, we heard from Second Sister that you're back and brought back your admission notice. Could you show it to us?"

Five Eggs and Six Eggs led Seven Eggs and Eight Eggs in. The four boys were tanned dark and shiny, almost reflecting light.

"Go wash up quickly. Aren't you afraid of getting heatstroke in this sweltering heat and still going out to play?"

"Big sister, can you show us the admission notice first?" Wu Dan persisted. He hadn't seen the notice yet, and he wanted to brag about it to his friends. It would make him look good.

"Okay, but you can't touch her," the four boys' hands were incredibly dirty, if they really touched her, how would she keep this notice in the future?

Qian Xiao had just taken out the notices for the four boys to see when the old lady came in: "What are you looking at? Hurry up and find your mother to wash you before you come over. Look at you all, you look like mud monkeys. If you don't behave, I'll have the big monkey carry you away."

Qian Xiao felt embarrassed. When she was little, her grandma used to scare her like this. Whenever she was naughty, her grandma would say that a big monkey would carry her away at night so that she would never see her parents again.

Upon hearing the name "big monkey," the four boys hurriedly ran out to find their mother. Although they had never seen what a big monkey looked like, the adults in the village all said so, so they knew that the big monkey must be the most terrifying creature.

She would laugh heartily as soon as she was given money. She was much bolder than the boys when she was a child. She once asked directly, "When is the big monkey coming? I want to see what it looks like."

She can still remember the expression on her grandmother's face back then, which was somewhat confused and incredulous. How could a child not be afraid of a big monkey?

The old lady probably thought of this too, and chuckled as she slapped Qian Xiao: "You brat, come and let Grandma take a look."

The old lady rubbed her hands against her body repeatedly before carefully taking the notice and squinting at it. Qian Xiao had never known if her grandmother could read, but she felt that the old lady should be able to.

The old lady's wrinkled hands caressed the notice, her expression a mixture of nostalgia and a brightening of her somewhat cloudy eyes, as if she had seen a glimmer of hope.

"Good, good, good. It's really good, my granddaughter is so promising."

Then, Old Man Qian came in and patted his wife on the back, as if to comfort her. The old lady looked up and Qian Xiao thought she saw a glint of tears in her grandmother's eyes, so quick that she thought she was seeing things.

"Old man, look at this! Our family has produced a college student, and a top one at that! Our Qian family has really made something of itself."

Old Man Qian's face was full of joy. His expression was not as complicated as the old lady's. His emotions were all about happiness.

"Good, good, good, hahaha, our Qian family's ancestral graves are emitting auspicious smoke! Tomorrow I'll go to my parents' graves and report the good news to them."

“Go, we must go. Our parents will be so happy if they know,” the old lady said. She had a good relationship with her mother-in-law and always remembered how good her parents-in-law were to her. It’s just that the old couple didn’t get to enjoy their retirement and passed away early.

Qian Xiao looked at her family, each of them carefully examining the admission notice. She couldn't quite describe the feeling in her heart; it was completely different from the feeling she had when she got into university in her previous life.

I was happy then, but that was all I felt; no other emotions came to mind. After all, taking the college entrance exam seemed to be the standard for that era, and it would have been strange if I hadn't passed.

Anyway, at that time, all the peers she knew in the neighborhood got into university, just at different university rankings.

Unlike now, when someone gets into university, it's like the whole family or even the whole village is overjoyed. It seems that getting into university now gives Qian Xiao a greater sense of accomplishment and a slight sense of mission.

"Second brother, third brother, you two should go up the mountain tomorrow and see if you can bring back some meat. This is a big event for our family. We must hold a feast, and we can't afford to have a feast without meat."

Qian Erbao and Qian Sanbao grinned from ear to ear, readily agreeing, "Hey, Dad, we'll go first thing tomorrow morning. We'll make sure Erdan's feast is decent."

This is the first college student in their family's generation. They have six sons to go. With their eldest sister being so capable, how could they possibly be lacking? This is the best possible start.

Old Man Qian looked at his eldest granddaughter with a smile. No matter how he looked at her, he felt that she was different from other children. She looked smarter than other children: "Erdan, have you told your father about this good news?"

Qian Xiao slapped his forehead and said he had forgotten something: "I forgot. How about I call my dad from the commune tomorrow and tell him?"

Her father wrote in his last letter that she should call him as soon as the results came out, how could she have forgotten?

Qian Sanbao was quick on his feet: "No need, I'll ride my bicycle to the commune to make a call right now, there's still time."

"Let's go tomorrow, it's so hot, we just got back." Even someone as active as her doesn't like to go out in this weather.
