Chapter 324 The Person Asking for Directions

I haven't encountered any particularly difficult colleagues, and my superiors are fair and just. I've never worried about my achievements or accomplishments being taken by others.

My biggest worry all day is probably what craft to make next, or what to eat for the next meal.

Qian Xiao can be said to be a rare woman in this era who lives a happy life. Even after marriage, the young couple lived separately, sharing the housework, with Sun Kaicheng doing the bulk of it.

Even after becoming a mother, she didn't need to take care of her child, and nothing made her mature; she still looked like a little girl.

"Do you think your son will go back on his word?" This is the third time I've gone to pick him up. Every time he agrees, but when it's time to come back, he makes up an excuse, like a stomachache or a toothache.

“No, our son always keeps his word. He said he would come back with us this time, and he definitely will,” Sun Kaicheng felt that his son was very much like himself in this respect, a good boy who kept his promises.

Qian Xiao curled her lips, thinking that her father's filter was quite thick.

"Okay, by the way, have you asked about the daycare?" The two of them were thinking that the child was getting older and the grandparents were getting old, so it would be better for them to take the child back and educate him themselves, and save the grandparents from getting more tired.

"I've asked, but I don't know if Little Potato will be able to stay put."

Thinking of her son's perpetually stern face, although he loves to go out and play, he is always impeccably clean, and his face never gets tanned no matter how much sun he gets. He has become the most beautiful girl in the village, and everyone who sees him adores him.

"If it doesn't work out, I'll just bring him to work. Anyway, I have my own office, so it won't bother anyone else."

For many years, no new people have joined their office. Qian Xiao has always occupied an office by herself. At first, it was because she was the only woman, and it was more convenient for her to be alone. Later, when she reached a certain level, no one could find fault with her having an office by herself.

“It’s not impossible. Our son can sit still. If you get him a few comic books, he can stay still for a whole day.”

"I forgot to check, did you tie the little seat in front of you?"

The couple converted their old bicycle into a tricycle. This one was bought later and modified as well. It's just right for the three of them.

"It's tied up securely, hold on tight and I'll speed up."

Once outside the county town, Sun Kaicheng modified his bicycle to run on gasoline, which increased its speed.

As the two approached the village entrance, they saw someone seemingly talking to their son. Their son was the only person at the village entrance; there wasn't a single adult in sight.

"Dad, Mom!" Little Potato, with his sharp eyes, immediately spotted his parents riding over on their bikes.

The person who was talking to Little Potato glanced back and quickly left. Qian Xiao happened to jump off his bicycle and saw the person's profile. He seemed somewhat unfamiliar, probably not someone he knew from the village, yet there was a slight sense of familiarity—could he be from another village?

"Son, what are you doing here all alone? Does your family know?"

Little Potato shook his head: "I don't know. I didn't tell Great-Grandma and the others. I came here secretly by myself to wait for you."

Qian Xiao picked up her son: "Have you forgotten what Mom told you?"

Little Potato hugged his mother's neck: "I didn't forget. I was a little anxious, so I thought I'd come and take a look, just for a quick glance before going back."

Sun Kaicheng glanced at the departing man's back and asked, "Little Potato, who were you talking to just now?"

Little Potato shook his head: "I don't know, that old man was asking for directions."

The couple exchanged a glance, feeling that the other person was acting suspiciously. Would a normal adult choose to ask a four or five-year-old toddler for directions? Most children that age can't even speak clearly.

"Whose house was he asking about?"

"Our family, but I didn't say I'm our family's child." Little Potato felt quite clever.

This is even stranger. Wouldn't it have been better if this person had asked them when they saw them? Also, the place that person left earlier wasn't the direction into the village. If they were asking for directions, why didn't they go in when they reached the village entrance? And why did they avoid others?

"From now on, you can't leave your family's sight at will, and you can't go to places where there are no people by yourself. Can you do that, little potato?" Qian Xiao quickly instructed her son. This little rascal could be picked up by an adult, and if he got lost, there would be no way to find him.

"Yes, Little Potato is the most obedient and good child." Little Potato patted his little chest.

Sun Kaicheng... his son is just like his wife in that he boasts about himself.

Qian Xiao chuckled and kissed her son's little face. Sure enough, the little potato quickly wiped it with his little hand, as if his mother had a virus. This annoyed Qian Xiao, so she kissed him again.

After a few kisses, a helpless expression appeared on Little Potato's face, which made Qian Xiao even happier. The little guy was acting like an adult all day long.

"Haha, my goodness! Son, you're so funny."

Little Potato stretched out his two short arms: "Daddy, hug me." His mother had such a mischievous sense of humor, always trying to amuse her child.

Sun Kaicheng took the little potato with one hand and placed it on the new chair on the crossbeam. The little chair had a small backrest and a soft cushion, making it very comfortable to sit on.

Little Potato looked up at his father, his eyes full of joy: "This is Little Potato's."

"Yes, your mom made this for you. What should you say?"

Little Potato said earnestly, "Thank you, Mom."

Qian Xiao leaned over and said, "Then let's give each other a kiss as a thank you."

The little potato frowned and gave me a kiss. Oh, I'm so cute, there's no way I can resist.

The little face made Qian laugh out loud. Her son was so funny. His little brows were furrowed as if he were saying, "Okay, okay, what can I do? You're my mother."

"Oh my, Little Potato, are you going to pick up your parents?"

"Hello, Grandma Tang."

"Alright, alright, our little potato is so adorable, go to your parents' house now."

"Hey, isn't this Little Potato? What are you doing with your parents?"

"Hello, Grandpa Li."

"Okay, okay, we'll go to Grandpa Li's house later, and Grandpa Li will roast sweet potatoes for you."

"Little potato, do you remember who I am?"

"Hello, Aunt Chunhua."

"My goodness, you have such a good memory! I haven't been back for months, and you still remember me?"

"Erdan, it's been a while since I've seen you. Are you back to see the kids?"

"Yes, I just came back from my rest to visit. Are you going out again?"

"That's right, my mom is sick, so I haven't been back for a long time. I was worried about her, so I came back to check on her. I can't tell you anymore, I have to leave now. We can chat again next time."

Along the way, he greeted everyone, and five-year-old Little Potato never called anyone wrong.

As everyone knows, Qianjiatun is a big village. Even Qian Xiao wouldn't dare to say he knows everyone in the village by name. Little Potato is enough; he's never mistaken anyone.
