Chapter 44 House Arrest
The news that the barbarian had proposed to marry the princess to Prince Wu's palace was spread by someone unknown.
Mo Ruyan was shocked when she learned about this. She couldn't believe that her father, who had always loved her, wanted to marry her to the northern grasslands.
In order to verify the truth of the matter, Mo Ruyan found Lord Mo.
Someone outside heard the father and daughter having a big argument in the study.
Then, the angry Lord Mo ordered his men to confine Mo Ruyan and not let her leave the Prince Wu's Palace.
When the barbarian spies hiding near King Wu's palace heard about this, they immediately left Beijiang City overnight and returned to the grassland.
Lai Yang hadn't seen Mo Ruyan for two days. He was wondering why he hadn't seen Mo Ruyan for the past two days and was wondering what the other person was busy with.
An unexpected guest suddenly came to visit.
Hearing the knock on the door outside the yard, Lai Yang put down the sword in his hand and went forward to open the door.
Then, a noble lady with still some charm stood outside Lai Yang's door, with a hint of sadness between her brows.
"Aunt Yun? What's wrong with you?"
Seeing that Yan Chengyun's expression was not right, Lai Yang asked in confusion.
"Xiao Yang, go and see Ruyan. The girl has been confined to the mansion by her father and has been on a hunger strike for two days. I'm afraid she will starve to death if this continues." Yan Chengyun reached out and grabbed Lai Yang, saying earnestly.
Hearing this, Lai Yang was slightly startled and asked in confusion: "Ruyan was confined by Uncle Mo? Why?"
Yan Chengyun hesitated for a while, sighed, and finally told Lai Yang everything she knew.
After hearing the whole story, Lai Yang remained silent for a long time.
"Xiao Yang, you are the only one who can persuade Ruyan now, so please help Aunt Yun, okay?" Yan Chengyun looked at Lai Yang with pitiful and pleading eyes.
"Aunt Yun, does Uncle Mo really want to marry Ruyan to that barbarian?" Lai Yang looked at Yan Chengyun calmly and asked.
Yan Chengyun's heart trembled, and after a moment's silence, he said seriously, "Xiao Yang, I know you have feelings for Ruyan. Although I don't know what your uncle Mo is planning, he won't push Ruyan into the fire pit. Your uncle Mo must have his reasons for doing this. I hope you don't resent your uncle Mo for this. I know his character. He is not the kind of cold-blooded and heartless person who would push his daughter to the barbarians."
Lai Yang shook his head and said slowly: "You misunderstood, I just asked casually. You are Ruyan's parents and have never treated me badly. How can there be any hatred?"
"It's great that you think so." Yan Chengyun breathed a sigh of relief.
"Auntie Yun, take me to see Ruyan."
"Okay, follow me."
The two left the yard and entered Prince Wu's Palace.
After a while, Yan Chengyun brought Lai Yang to the place where Mo Ruyan was under house arrest.
There were two guards from Prince Wu's palace guarding the door.
Seeing that the people coming were Yan Chengyun and Lai Yang, they did not dare to stop them. Then, under Yan Chengyun's order, they opened the door and let the two in.
Yan Chengyun and Lai Yang came to Mo Ruyan's room. There was cold food on the table, and it looked like it had not been touched at all.
Mo Ruyan sat in front of the window, looking at the sky outside, in a daze, looking absent-minded.
Seeing her like this, Yan Chengyun felt distressed.
It's not that she didn't look for Lord Mo during this period, but Lord Mo told her not to interfere as he had his own plans.
Yan Chengyun was worried about ruining Lord Mo's plan, so he didn't say anything more.
But she couldn't bear to watch Mo Ruyan go on a hunger strike. What if she really got sick from hunger?
She couldn't persuade Mo Ruyan, and was in a dilemma. She suddenly thought of Lai Yang, and took the initiative to ask him for help.
"Ruyan, look who's here?" Yan Chengyun said in a clear voice.
Hearing this, Mo Ruyan looked back, and the moment she saw Lai Yang, her pretty face froze.
In an instant, all the grievances of recent days came to her mind, hot tears rolled down her delicate cheeks, and then she suddenly threw herself into his arms.
Seeing this, Yan Chengyun sighed quietly, turned his head to look at Lai Yang, then silently turned around and left the room, leaving the two of them alone.
Lai Yang raised his hand and gently stroked Mo Ruyan's beautiful long black hair, and said softly to comfort her: "I have heard what Aunt Yun said. It's okay as long as I am here."
"My father wanted to marry me to Kemmerdar. In order to join forces with the northern barbarians and march south, he wanted to give me to the barbarian king as a tool for the marriage. He has changed so much that I almost don't recognize him. I told him that I don't want to marry a barbarian and become a tool for the marriage, so he had me confined. I feel so uncomfortable."
"You don't know how much he has gone too far..."
Mo Ruyan couldn't help but pour out her grievances to Lai Yang.
Lai Yang listened quietly at the side, occasionally responding.
When she got tired of talking and relaxed, she suddenly felt very hungry and her stomach started to growl.
Mo Ruyan's face turned red. She now had the urge to find a place to hide. Her stomach actually started to growl at this time. It was so embarrassing.
"Okay, no matter what, don't be hard on your body. No matter what you want to do, whether you want to continue to fight your father or run away, your body is the foundation of everything. Hurry and eat something."
Lai Yang brought a plate of snacks from the table and handed it to Mo Ruyan.
Mo Ruyan hesitated for a while, then looked up at the young man in front of her. Her pretty face showed a shy look, and she said softly, "I want you to feed me."
"What?" Lai Yang was slightly stunned.
"I want you to feed me." Mo Ruyan said firmly.
Lai Yang hesitated for a moment, then reached out and picked up a piece of cake and handed it to Mo Ruyan's mouth.
Mo Ruyan opened her delicate cherry lips slightly, leaned forward, took a bite of the pastry, chewed it a few times and swallowed it, smiling like a flower: "It's delicious."
"If you like it, eat more." Lai Yang said softly with a hint of tenderness in his expression.
"If, if my father really wants me to marry to the north and marry the barbarian king Kemerdar in exchange for the trust and alliance of the barbarian army, what will you do?" Mo Ruyan asked nervously.
"Do you want to get married?" Lai Yang asked back.
"Of course not." Mo Ruyan shouted subconsciously.
"If you don't want to get married, no one can force you." Lai Yang said lightly, his calm and confident tone as if he was talking about a trivial matter.
"Don't go on a hunger strike anymore. It will make Aunt Yun worry. I'm here. Tell me if there's anything."
Mo Ruyan felt a warm current in her heart and nodded obediently: “Yeah.”
"These dishes are cold. I'll have someone make you some new ones."
After saying that, Lai Yang stood up and walked out of Mo Ruyan's room and told Yan Chengyun.
Yan Chengyun was very happy to hear that Mo Ruyan was willing to eat, and immediately ordered the servants in the mansion to prepare another table of sumptuous food and send it over.
"Xiao Yang, please don't leave yet. Stay and have dinner with us."
Yan Chengyun still needed Lai Yang's help to calm Mo Ruyan's emotions, so naturally he didn't want to let him go so soon.
Lai Yang had no intention of leaving Prince Wu's Mansion so soon, so he did not refuse Yan Chengyun's request to stay and nodded slightly.
"Um."
