Chapter 72 Both Sides Suffer Losses

Chapter 72 Both Sides Suffer Losses

Upon hearing this, the three of them smiled and walked over in unison.

Zhou Ma stood up, looked at Ma Long, then at Lin Ma, and finally chose to sit next to Lin Ma and chat with her. Anyway, she had already asked enough questions, so there was no need to ask any more.

"You've really raised a good daughter, giving my family a wonderful daughter-in-law," Zhou's mother said through gritted teeth.

When Lin Ma heard Zhou Ma say this, she assumed that Zhou Ma, like the other aunties downstairs, really liked Lin Yuanshu. She smiled and said, "This is all I should do. As long as you think my daughter is a good daughter-in-law, that's enough. As long as Xiaoshu and Xiangyang are happy, I don't have any other requests."

Aunt Zhou took a deep breath, glanced at Lin Yuanshu, and said with a smile, "This is your first time in Beijing, isn't it? It's such a beautiful day. It would be such a waste of time for you to just stay at home chatting! Why don't you let your second wife take you to visit the Forbidden City and see the Great Wall?"

She didn't understand Lin's mother's personality yet. There were some things she couldn't say, and things she couldn't say in front of Lin Yuanshu. She didn't want Lin Yuanshu to know that she was up to something behind his back again.

Lin's mother hesitated. She originally wanted to see how Xiao Shu was doing at her in-laws' house. How come she hadn't even settled in yet and was already running off to play? Although she was happy to see her, she hadn't forgotten her purpose in coming to Beijing: to see if Xiao Shu was being bullied by the Zhou family.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yuanshu felt it was a good opportunity to let Li Xiaohua and Ma Long spend time alone, which was much better than her and Zhu Huilan's plan to let Ma Long and Li Xiaohua bump into each other by chance. Besides, she didn't want to listen to their conversation in the living room.

She knew that the Forbidden City and the Great Wall were closed for the day, since it was Lunar New Year's Eve and the staff at the scenic spots were on holiday. But that wasn't important. What mattered was giving Li Xiaohua and Ma Long some time alone together.

She wholeheartedly agreed, saying, "I think this is a great idea. I've been married here for so long, but I haven't had a proper chance to explore Beijing properly. Today is a perfect opportunity to take my parents to experience the culture and history of Beijing."

When Zhou Ma saw that Lin Yuanshu agreed, she smiled and said, "That's great! I'll go and call Sister Ahua over right now. Sister Ahua hasn't been in Beijing for long and hasn't gone out to play yet. It'll be perfect for her to come with you."

When Ma Long heard the name "Sister Ahua," he instinctively straightened up, his palms sweating slightly. He was a little afraid that Li Xiaohua would look down on him, because he really didn't have anything outstanding about him. He hadn't even found a job, and he didn't have an urban household registration.

"Okay," Lin Yuanshu readily agreed.

When Lin Yuanshu agreed, Lin's parents didn't object. After all, it was their daughter who wanted to go shopping, so the matter was decided happily.

Zhou Dafu looked on blankly as his mother ran next door. He hadn't even chatted with Ma Long and Lin Yuanshu's parents for long before they were being told to go out and play. Why didn't anyone ask him what he thought?

Zhou Dafu lowered his voice and said to Ma Long, "Let my in-laws go out and have fun, you can stay and chat with me. There's nothing fun outside."

Ma Long looked troubled and said, "This is my first time in Beijing, and I'm quite eager to see some different scenery."

After all, he was there to get closer to Li Xiaohua, not to get closer to Zhou Dafu. What's the point of chatting with Zhou Dafu? Zhou Dafu can't offer him a job.

"Alright! I'll go with you then." Chow Tai Fook chose a compromise.

Upon hearing this, Zhou's mother, who had just returned to the living room, immediately stopped him, saying, "You can't go. You have to stay home with me. You're tired of all the scenery outside. Don't disturb their family reunion. There are so many chores to do at home. Are you just going to pack your bags and leave? Leave everything to me!"

She didn't want to see Zhou Dafu constantly chatting with Ma Long; Ma Long was supposed to be with her sister Ahua, and she wanted to help Ahua clear away her troubles.

Zhou Dafu smiled awkwardly. In front of so many people, he couldn't very well scold Zhou Ma loudly. He still had to save face for Zhou Ma, so he could only bite the bullet and say, "In that case, I'll stay and help."

Ma Long knew that Zhou Ma was saying those things to help him, and he didn't want Zhou Dafu to be too angry with her, so he quickly said, "Team Leader Zhou, your wife is so lucky to have a husband like you. There aren't many husbands like you who are willing to stay and help."

Lin's parents echoed their sentiments, praising Chow Tai Fook, and the atmosphere became harmonious again.

While everyone was chatting and not paying attention to her, Lin Yuanfeng quietly went to the burlap sack, took out a dead rabbit, and then happily went to find her brother-in-law.

The older brother was nagging Zhou Xiangyang about his complaints, but Zhou Xiangyang ignored him completely, only occasionally replying with an "oh".

Lin Yuanfeng ignored his older brother and walked to Zhou Xiangyang's side. Holding the rabbit by its leg, he said earnestly, "Brother-in-law, I caught a wild rabbit yesterday. Can you cook it into something delicious?"

Hearing Lin Yuanfeng's voice, Zhou Xiangyang turned around, looked at the skinned rabbit in Lin Yuanfeng's hand, and asked with a smile, "Do you want braised rabbit or stewed rabbit?"

I didn't expect my sister-in-law to be so capable; she even managed to catch a rabbit. Now we can have another meat dish for lunch.

Lin Yuanfeng's eyes lit up as he said, "I want to eat them all."

She had never eaten any of these; she had only ever eaten boiled rabbit meat.

“Okay, I’ll make it all for you,” Zhou Xiangyang readily agreed.

Lin Yuanfeng jumped for joy, saying, "You are the best brother-in-law. I only want you as my brother-in-law from now on. I don't want any other brother-in-laws."

Zhou Xiangyang knew that his sister-in-law's personality was like a child's, so he didn't correct her.

The elder brother had long felt that Lin Yuanshu's sister didn't seem like a normal person, and after hearing these words, he was even more convinced that Lin Yuanshu's sister was mentally unstable. He sneered, "Comrade Lin Yuanshu is so smart, how come his sister is like an idiot!"

Zhou Xiangyang raised an eyebrow and said softly, "Brother, I advise you not to say that. My wife will be unhappy if she finds out."

The eldest brother didn't care whether Lin Yuanshu was happy or not. He was almost bursting with resentment. He couldn't bully Lin Yuanshu, but he could bully a fool!

"I'm going to say it, you idiot, you idiot..."

Lin Yuanfeng put his hands on his hips, looking very unhappy, and said angrily, "You called me an idiot, I'm going to tell my mom and dad."

After saying this, Lin Yuanfeng turned and walked towards the living room.

The older brother quickly pulled Lin Yuanfeng back. There were so many people in the living room, and he didn't want to see Lin Yuanfeng go over and complain. He thought Lin Yuanshu's sister was easy to bully like other idiots, only knowing how to cry and not knowing how to fight back. He didn't expect that although this idiot couldn't fight back, she could complain. He really miscalculated.

"You're an adult now, you need to learn to handle these things yourself. You can't always turn to your parents for help; you can talk to your brother-in-law too."

While comforting Lin Yuanfeng, the older brother winked at Zhou Xiangyang, trying to get Zhou Xiangyang to speak on his behalf and persuade Lin Yuanfeng to stay.

Zhou Xiangyang decisively chose Lin Yuanfeng, after all, it was his older brother who had spoken out of turn first, "Xiaofeng, if he brings you pastries as an apology, can you forgive him?"

Lin Yuanfeng thought of the sweet pastries, nodded decisively, and then looked at his older brother with anticipation.

The eldest brother was very unhappy.

Zhou Xiangyang saw through his older brother's thoughts and advised, "You'd better think this through. What will happen to you if my wife finds out that you're bullying her mentally challenged sister? You can forget about having any of the big meals at lunch today."

Upon hearing this, the eldest brother could only reluctantly take out the peach shortbread he had bought earlier from the room; there were still three pieces left.

Lin Yuanfeng took the pastries from her elder brother without any hesitation, giving him no chance to back out. She said magnanimously, "As long as you give me the pastries, you can call me an idiot next time."

The older brother gritted his teeth and said, "I misunderstood. You don't look like a fool at all. You're extremely smart, and you even know how to tattle."

Lin Yuanfeng didn't care what her older brother said; in her eyes, he was just a bad person who would curse.

Lin Yuanfeng had just received his peach shortbread, but before he could even put it in his mouth, Zhou Xiangyang took it away, saying confidently, "I'll leave your peach shortbread with me for now, and I'll give it back to you after you finish eating."

If it were in his sister-in-law's hands, she would definitely not be able to control herself and would finish it all, and then she wouldn't be able to eat lunch, which is not the scene he wants to see.

Lin Yuanfeng wasn't angry that the peach shortbread was taken away. She just pursed her lips, looked at the shortbread with reluctance, and instructed, "Brother-in-law, you mustn't steal any, otherwise you won't be the best brother-in-law to me."

"I know, I won't touch it at all," Zhou Xiangyang said confidently.

Lin Yuanfeng thought for a moment and said with great reluctance, "If you are hungry, you can eat one piece, but you can only eat one piece."

Her parents said that if others are good to her, she should be good to them too, so that they will continue to be good to her.

Zhou Xiangyang chuckled and said, "Thank you so much, Xiao Feng."

Lin Yuanfeng smiled at Zhou Xiangyang, then skipped back to the living room.

The eldest brother couldn't help but roll his eyes. Those were his peach shortbreads. He had really lost both his wife and his army. It was one thing to cook, but he had also lost his pastries. He was sure that nothing good would come of the Lin family. He even suspected that Lin Yuanshu was his nemesis.

Meanwhile, as Li Xiaohua changed her new clothes, she said to Zhu Huilan, "I don't know if Ah Chun has taken the wrong medicine? She insisted on taking me out to the Forbidden City. I can't run away, and I can go anytime. Why did she have to go on New Year's Eve? She even said that if I didn't go, she wouldn't be friends with me anymore. I'm leaving today's New Year's Eve dinner to you. I'll try to come back as early as possible..."

Upon hearing this, Zhu Huilan immediately understood that Lin Yuanshu was behind it all. As expected of Lin Yuanshu, he managed to get his mother-in-law to cooperate with his plan unconsciously. Going out to play was much better than staying at home, since there were so many people watching over them, and Ma Long couldn't do anything out of line.

"Mom, you don't need to worry about things at home. Just go out and have some fun. Aunt Zhou next door is just trying to help you relax," Zhu Huilan said with a smile.

Li Dahua frowned and said, "If you and Achun are reliable and don't make me worry about anything, I won't have any troubles."

Zhu Huilan: "..."

After Lin Yuanshu and his group finished preparing, they left the living room and went to the corridor. Zhou Ma called out loudly, "Sister Hua, are you ready?"

When Li Xiaohua heard Zhou Ma urging her, she answered loudly, "Okay, I'll be right out."

She muttered to herself, "Ah Chun is usually so slow and procrastinating, but today she's so proactive that I'm quite impressed."

Zhu Huilan swallowed nervously and quickly said, "It's probably because her in-laws are there that she has to behave well. You go quickly! Leave the house to me!"

Quanmin, holding the child, chimed in, "Mom, Huilan and I are here at home, nothing will happen. You can take this opportunity to have some fun."

Anyway, his mother was going out with Lin Yuanshu and others from across the street, so she definitely wouldn't encounter any danger, and he felt at ease.

Seeing how eagerly the two of them wanted her to leave, Li Xiaohua couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Outside the door, Ma Long took a deep breath and pretended to come to the door by chance, making sure that Li Xiaohua would see him the moment she opened the door.

After Li Xiaohua opened the door, she saw Ma Long standing there and exclaimed in surprise, "Ah..."

Seeing Li Xiaohua's expression, Zhou Ma knew that Li Xiaohua, like herself, had misunderstood Ma Long's identity. She didn't want Ma Long to have a bad impression of Li Xiaohua because of this.

She quickly went over and covered Li Xiaohua's mouth, then introduced her with a smile: "This is Comrade Ma Long, my second wife's cousin."

Ma Long smiled at Li Xiaohua and said seriously, "I feel like I'm older than all of you. You can just call me Brother Long."

Zhou's mother chimed in, "We've been chatting for so long, and you didn't let me call you Brother Long. But as soon as Sister Hua came out, you made us call you Brother Long."

Malone smiled sheepishly and stammered, "I..."

Li Xiaohua realized she had mistaken someone for someone else and quickly came to Ma Long's rescue, saying, "Don't mind what Ah Chun said, she just likes to tease others."

Ma Long nodded, blushing.

Li Xiaohua was also a little embarrassed to stare at Ma Long, mainly because Ma Long looked too much like her brother A Niu when she was young. Now, A Niu had become unrecognizable due to overwork.

They used to get along like this. Ah Chun would tease her about her relationship with Ah Niu. In the blink of an eye, almost thirty years have passed, and she is almost forty-five years old now.

Seeing this scene, Lin Yuanshu felt that something was missing. If only there were some music, it would be just like the meeting of the male and female protagonists in a novel. Sure enough, the old saying is true: when you meet a man who suits your taste, you should be wary. It's not love that has come, but a liar.

Seeing the two of them, Zhou Ma immediately felt that there was something going on. It seemed that Ma Long was not without feelings for Li Xiaohua. She knew that no one would not like her Sister Ahua, except for Lin Yuanshu.

Ma Long was really at a loss, unsure of how to treat Li Xiaohua. Although Li Xiaohua was his mission target, she was someone he was going to spend his life with, and he still hoped to have a good start with her.

"Now that everyone's here, let's go!" Lin Yuanshu said loudly. Seeing Zhou Ma's expression, she was even more concerned than Lin Yuanshu herself. She didn't need to think of any way to matchmake Ma Long and Li Xiaohua.

Lin's parents walked beside Lin Yuanshu. Because there were a lot of people around, they were too embarrassed to ask about Ma Long, and decided to chat about it privately later.

Lin Yuanfeng, on the other hand, skipped and hopped along; she loved to play everywhere.

Zhou Ma followed Li Xiaohua, trying to get Li Xiaohua to talk to Ma Long.

As the elder brother watched them leave, he gritted his teeth and said, "Comrade Lin Yuanshu has really gone too far."

They leave the cooking to them, while they go out and enjoy themselves, without having to worry about anything.

Standing to the side, Sister-in-law Xue chimed in, "That's right, when else can we go out to play? Why do we have to go out now? There's still snow outside. I'm pregnant, how can I go with you? Can't we wait until I give birth before we go out to play?"

The older brother chuckled coldly and said softly, "I see you're in pretty good health right now, and you still have the mind to think about going out and having fun. Why don't you come and help out in the kitchen?"

Sister-in-law Xue blinked innocently and said with a smile, "Dad asked the two of you to cook, so I won't get involved. My steamed buns aren't as good as yours. Besides, my younger brother is a chef, so I should definitely give him the chance to show off his skills to his father-in-law."

Zhou Xiangyang said earnestly, "Thank you, sister-in-law, for giving me this opportunity."

Sister-in-law Xue said shamelessly, "No need to thank me, it's what I should do."

The older brother snorted coldly and said irritably, "If you're not going to do it, then get out of the kitchen and don't waste our time."

There were already a lot of dishes to cook, and now I also have to deal with rabbits. It's really annoying. If he weren't cooking, he would really look forward to lunch. But if I cook for myself, I'm not so excited about it.

Lin Yuanshu and the others walked to the stairwell and ran into Sun's father and mother.

Lin's mother asked in confusion, "Why haven't you gone to find Yiyi yet?"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Ma realized that the person named Yiyi in the tenement building was someone her in-laws knew. There was no one else but Sun Yiyi. Presumably, these two were Sun Yiyi's parents, the culprits who had pushed her eldest daughter-in-law down.

She was about to lose her temper and kick the two out of the tenement building, but then she thought about it again. Sun Yiyi had ruined her reputation outside, and Aunt Wei had been sarcastic and even hit her. If she kicked the two out, wouldn't that be giving the Wei family a huge advantage? She didn't want to see the two, and she figured the Wei family would want to see them even less.

After all, Sun Yiyi not only didn't go back to her parents' home during this period, but her expression became very unpleasant whenever her parents' home was mentioned.

Aunt Zhou stepped forward and said with great interest, "You must be Sun Yiyi's parents, right? This old Wei's wife is really uncivilized. She didn't even come to greet you when your in-laws came. I'll take you to meet her now. Don't worry, we people in this tenement building aren't arrogant. We won't look down on our poor relatives. Look at me, how good I am to my in-laws. I even specially killed fish and ducks for them."

Mr. and Mrs. Sun looked at Mrs. Zhou with surprise. They never expected that Lin Yuanshu's mother-in-law was such a kind person. Even though they had pushed her daughter-in-law down before, she still helped her without holding a grudge.

Mr. and Mrs. Sun were filled with regret. They should have married their daughter Sun Yiyi into the Zhou family instead of missing out on such a good in-law.

Aunt Sun said very politely, "Then I'll trouble you."

Zhou Ma couldn't help but reveal a triumphant smile. "It was just a small thing."

Upon hearing this, Li Xiaohua frowned and said, "Aren't you planning to come with me to see the Forbidden City?"

Zhou Ma said with a regretful look, "I was planning to go, but now that this has happened, I can't go. I'll deal with Sun Yiyi's parents' matter first, and then I'll go. You go and play with Brother A Long first, I won't bother you anymore."

She hadn't planned to go in the first place, but she hadn't figured out a reason to leave. She happened to run into Sun Yiyi's parents, which would make things difficult for the Wei family and give her a reason to leave Sister Ahua. It was a win-win situation, and she didn't want to disturb Ma Long and Sister Ahua's time together.

Li Xiaohua hesitated, considering whether to stay and keep Zhou Ma company.

Fearing things might change, Zhou Ma quickly gave Lin Yuanshu a wink.

Lin Yuanshu understood Zhou Ma's meaning and said with a smile, "Aunt Li, if my mother doesn't want to go to the Forbidden City, that's fine. We can still accompany you to see the Forbidden City. Our two families have a life-or-death friendship, so don't be polite with me."

Going to the hospital together and eating sick chickens together—how can that not be a life-or-death bond!

Zhou Ma gently pushed Li Xiaohua forward, and Lin Yuanshu took the opportunity to pull Li Xiaohua forward.

Li Xiaohua wanted to spend time with Zhou Ma, but she also wanted to spend some time with Ma Long. It wasn't that she had any feelings for Ma Long, but Ma Long looked so much like Brother A Niu when he was young, which made her want to take a second look at him.

After leaving the dormitory building, Lin Yuanshu let go of Li Xiaohua and took the initiative to chat with her and her mother. Li Xiaohua and her mother had a lot in common, after all, they had always lived in the production team. The more Li Xiaohua chatted, the more relaxed she became, and she was no longer so restrained. Ma Long also joined the chat with a smile.

Gradually, it became a situation where Li Xiaohua and Ma Long walked behind chatting, Lin Yuanshu walked ahead chatting with his mother, and Lin's father was responsible for keeping an eye on Lin Yuanfeng to prevent her from running around aimlessly.

During this process, Li Xiaohua also learned about Ma Long's situation. Like Ma Long, she only had one son. Her husband died early, while Ma Long's wife had a difficult childbirth. They both raised their children alone with great difficulty.

Li Xiaohua couldn't help but sigh, "Fortunately, my son is a bit better than your son. My son wouldn't do such an unfilial thing."

Malone sighed, "Is it because I didn't raise my son well, or did you raise your son well?"

Li Xiaohua asked curiously, "All these years, haven't you ever thought about finding a mother for your son?"

Ma Long gave a bitter smile. "My wife died in childbirth. Her last words before she passed away were that I shouldn't find a new wife and raise the child alone. She lost her life for the child, so how could I bear to let her die with regrets? That's why I agreed to her request."

Li Xiaohua looked at Ma Long with admiration, "It's rare to find a man as loyal and righteous as you. Your son has really let you down."

Ma Long forced a smile and said, "After this incident, I've realized something: I can't rely on my son. I need to start making plans for myself, which is why I came to Beijing to find a job and, incidentally, a wife."

When Li Xiaohua heard Ma Long say that, her heart was pounding. Ma Long was about the same age as her, and he looked so much like Ah Niu, the guy she liked when she was young. He was also loyal and righteous, but unfortunately, he didn't appear when she was even younger.

She's a mother-in-law now, and it would be shameful for her to remarry. She's lived most of her life and is used to this kind of life, so there's no need for her to make any changes.

"Brother Long, you're such a good person, I'll definitely help you find a hardworking and capable wife," Li Xiaohua promised, patting her chest.

Upon hearing this, Malone's heart sank. He instinctively asked, "Don't you have any feelings for me at all?"

Li Xiaohua stared wide-eyed in disbelief, her face flushing instantly. She hadn't expected Ma Long to have such thoughts. She stammered, "I...I'm too old, it's not appropriate."

After saying that, she ran to Lin Yuanshu's side and talked to him, trying to calm herself down. She was afraid that if she continued talking to Ma Long, she might do something irreversible.

Ma Long watched Li Xiaohua's retreating figure and breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, she only said that she was too old to be suitable and did not directly express that she had no feelings for him. It seemed that he still had hope.

Although Lin Yuanshu didn't know how their conversation went, seeing Li Xiaohua's shy expression, he knew that the matter was probably settled.

The plan went surprisingly smoothly. It's true that even heroes can't resist the charms of a beautiful woman. This honey trap works well on both men and women.

At the same time, Zhou's mother, along with Sun's father and mother, arrived at the Wei family's door and then knocked on the door forcefully.

Hearing the commotion outside, Aunt Wei shouted, "Who's knocking on the door? Can't you be a little quieter? You're going to break my door!"

She opened the door and saw the repulsive-looking Zhou Ma. She said irritably, "Who do we have here! It's you. No wonder you were knocking so loudly. What do you want?"

Aunt Zhou said gloatingly, "It's not me looking for you, it's your in-laws."

She stood to the side, revealing the figures of Sun's father and mother.

Mr. Sun smiled politely at Mrs. Zhou and said, "My dear in-laws, it's been a long time. I heard my daughter is pregnant, so I came to see her. I also brought you some things."

He lifted the burlap sack in his hand.

Zhou Ma said loudly, "Old Wei's wife, look how good your in-laws are to you. They came all this way and still remembered to bring you things. You really have a good in-law."

Aunt Wei's face was very ugly. She said without hesitation, "I don't have such in-laws. Don't forget what you said back then."

Before Sun's father could speak, Zhou's mother shouted, "It's better to resolve conflicts than to create them. What kind of fate does it take to become in-laws? What can't be discussed properly? They've come all this way to see you, are you going to drive them away? These are your daughter-in-law's biological parents! I've never heard of anyone being filial only to their parents-in-law and not to their own parents."

Zhou Ma's loud shouting attracted the attention of the neighbors, who watched the scene with curiosity, finding it even more interesting than the movies shown at the factory.

Mr. Sun said pitifully, "We were wrong to do what happened back then. We are country folk, we are ignorant, and when we encountered this kind of thing, we only knew how to hide. Please help us clean up this mess. I don't blame you for stealing my two chickens. Now I just want to see my daughter and clear up the misunderstanding. No matter what, she is still my daughter."

Hearing this, the older women nearby whispered among themselves, "I never thought that Old Wei's wife, who looks so glamorous, would steal her in-laws' chickens."

"Therefore, it is said that you can know a person's face but not their heart."

Aunt Zhou suddenly realized, "No wonder you were so generous to give me a chicken back then. It turns out you stole it from someone else. You're really shameless."

Aunt Wei retorted, "It's not that I wanted to steal chickens, but Sun Yiyi's parents went too far. They pushed your eldest daughter-in-law down but don't want to take responsibility."

Mr. Sun explained in a low voice, "It's not that we don't want to take responsibility, but we really don't have any money. If we had money, we wouldn't have asked you for money to get our son married."

Aunt Zhou laughed and said, "You know perfectly well that your in-laws are from the countryside, so why are you being so petty and making things difficult for a country person? And what about Comrade Sun Yiyi? Is she really so heartless as to just watch her own parents be bullied by you? She really is a 'whoever feeds her will be her mother' type, not even caring about her own parents. Do you expect someone like that to be filial to you in the future? Dream on!"

Aunt Wei was so angry she couldn't speak. She felt that she hadn't slapped Zhou Ma hard enough last time, which was why Zhou Ma was able to talk nonsense here.

Having heard Zhou Ma's words, Sun Yiyi had no choice but to step forward and say, forcing herself to speak, "Mom, let's let my parents come in first. There are more and more people watching, and we can't let Aunt Zhou continue to cause trouble."

Aunt Wei took a deep breath and said with a stern face, "In-law, come in and see your daughter."

Mr. and Mrs. Sun nodded happily, and then said to Mrs. Zhou, "Thank you so much, you are such a good person."

Hearing this, Aunt Wei felt more disgusted than if she had eaten half a fly, and could only watch helplessly as Mr. and Mrs. Sun went into the room.

Just then, Sister-in-law Xue's parents came up to Aunt Zhou and said with a smile, "In-laws, it's been a long time! I heard that my daughter is pregnant, and I was worried, so I came to see her and brought you some things."

Aunt Wei's expression changed immediately. She hated Sun Yiyi's parents just as much as Aunt Zhou hated Sister-in-law Xue's parents. If she was unhappy, Aunt Zhou wouldn't have an easy time either.

She gave him a knowing look and said in a cheeky voice, "Aren't these your eldest daughter-in-law's parents? Why don't you take them back with you? They've come all this way to see you, they must have brought you a lot of cabbages!"

Aunt Wei's gaze fell on the wicker basket in Uncle Xue's hands. They were all so shabby. Compared to being stingy, Aunt Xue's parents were even worse than Sun Yiyi's parents. At least Sun Yiyi's parents brought a bag full of things.

Mr. Xue, unaware of what had happened, explained with a smile, "This isn't filled with cabbages, it's filled with radishes."

Aunt Wei covered her mouth and chuckled, "You guys are really generous! Old Zhou's wife is so happy she can't speak, after all, you didn't come empty-handed."

Zhou Ma was so angry that her liver hurt. She didn't want to bring her eldest daughter-in-law's parents back at all. At least Lin Yuanshu's parents brought a big bag of food when they came to visit, but her eldest daughter-in-law's parents only brought a little bit of radish and wanted to freeload.

The older brother felt extremely embarrassed. He rubbed his temples, thinking about how many trivial matters had happened today and how everything had gone wrong. He went to the living room to call his wife to go out and deal with his parents' issues.

Upon hearing this, Sister-in-law Xue rushed out of the living room. She frowned and came to her parents. Instead of seeing any joy in their eyes, she questioned them, "Dad, Mom, what brings you here?"
